She wasn't shivering anymore, but her heart continued beating fast, unsure whether to lean closer to him or build walls again.
Nyxmaris stayed on the floor beside her knees, not moving closer without permission.
He kept his hands open on his thighs, he watched her quietly. For the first time since he entered, his energy wasn't desperate. It was calm and stable… Like an anchor thrown into a storm.
"You're safe right now," he began softly. "Breathe, Nadeira."
Her fingers tightened together. She let out a long, shaky breath and whispered, "It doesn't feel safe here. Nothing feels safe."
