But there was one thing.
Didn't the diary say before that Loki was forced to work for the TVA, hunting down the female Loki?
And now, it suddenly says Loki and the female Loki teamed up and saw through the "Time Keepers'" deception?Tony Stark didn't know exactly what happened in between, but he could more or less guess.
It must have been during the mission to capture her that Loki quietly reached an agreement with the female Loki! Then the two of them pretended to serve the TVA while secretly plotting together behind its back.
And not only that—they actually succeeded! It was like some high-stakes espionage thriller — all brains and nerve.
So, the title God of Mischief wasn't undeserved after all.
But…
What did "the true face of the Time Keepers" mean? The real Time Keepers? From the vague description, Tony couldn't piece together the full picture —but clearly, there was something very deep and murky inside the TVA.
Even the Time Keepers themselves — there were real and fake ones?
If Loki exposed them, did that mean the Time Keepers that everyone inside the TVA believed in were actually impostors? What kind of "story" lay behind that… Tony Stark couldn't begin to imagine.
The same went for how Loki broke free from the TVA's control.
The diary didn't give any clues, so there was no way for Tony to deduce it.
But considering Loki had been captured by the TVA, forced to work for them as a prisoner, then somehow outwitted them and turned the tables — even thinking about it made Tony's scalp tingle.
Loki really was worthy of being called the God of Mischief. The guy had skills.
[Of course, Loki probably wouldn't get caught by the TVA in this timeline.]
[After all, Thor's still happily hanging out on Earth. The Battle of New York might not even happen.]
[Even if the future Avengers do travel back through time again, they probably wouldn't run into Loki, right?]
[Wait—if the Battle of New York never happens, then the future Avengers would travel to a different timeline instead.]
[No, that's not right either. Who says that just because Thor and Loki didn't fight, the Battle of New York wouldn't happen?]
[The brothers' fight wasn't actually the root cause of the New York invasion.]
[The real cause was S.H.I.E.L.D.'s secret research on the Cosmic Cube — which sent out a signal into space.]
[That signal made other cosmic powers believe that Earth was ready for higher-level warfare!]
[And that, in turn, attracted the Mad Titan's attention.]
[Otherwise, how else would he even know the Cube was on Earth?]
So — Loki getting captured by the TVA was connected to the Battle of New York!
The diary was clear: if the Battle of New York didn't happen, Loki wouldn't have been taken by the TVA.
And everyone already knew Loki was the one who started that war.
Connecting the dots — Loki was caught by the Avengers after the Battle of New York. And the diary had also revealed before that Black Widow was the one who shut the portal, ending the invasion once and for all.
The government even launched a nuclear missile. No matter the circumstances of that launch, the Chitauri army must have been wiped out.
So overall, Earth had won the Battle of New York.Though the cost was likely devastating — New York was probably leveled by that nuke.
Such was the cruelty of interstellar war.
After all, their enemy wasn't human — it was an alien army.
Besides…
The diary also mentioned that Loki escaped while the future Avengers were time-traveling.
That could only mean one thing:
The future Avengers had traveled back to the time of the Battle of New York!
That was even confirmed by the diary's earlier spoilers.
Although — that group of Avengers probably didn't include Captain America.
The others' motives were unclear, but as for Steve Rogers — everyone knew he stayed behind to be with Peggy Carter.
So Captain America must have traveled even further back in time, stayed quietly in the past with Peggy, and only reappeared around the time of the Battle of New York.
And since the rest of the Avengers also went back to that period, they must have regrouped there somehow.
But what exactly was their purpose in revisiting the Battle of New York?
It couldn't have been to change history, right?
From other diary fragments, Tony inferred that the Avengers traveled during Endgame, handled some mission during the Battle of New York, and then all returned to their original time — except for Captain America.
He was the only one who didn't.He "stood everyone up," choosing instead to live the life Tony had always told him to.
So, that must be the general outline of their time-travel escapade.
Of course, Tony had no idea that his reasoning — without a god's-eye view — had gone completely off track.
He didn't know the diary's "time travel" actually referred to two separate events.
After sorting through his thoughts, Tony refocused on the diary —and his face darkened immediately.
The real reason behind the Battle of New York wasn't the Thor–Loki conflict? It was Nick Fury's research on the Cosmic Cube?!
Damn it!
Tony's lips twitched. This wasn't good news at all.
In fact, it felt like a slap in the face.
He'd just been celebrating that maybe this time the Battle of New York could be avoided —and now, bam! The diary slapped him hard with the truth.
It was S.H.I.E.L.D. that triggered the whole thing?!
Those fools — always messing things up!If they didn't have the ability, why did they have to tamper with something as dangerous as the Cosmic Cube? And now, look — they'd doomed Earth itself!
For a moment, Tony had the impulse to storm over and stop Fury immediately —to tell him never to mess with the Cube.
But that thought lasted barely a second before Tony dismissed it.
It was already too late.Fury was definitely already experimenting with it — and had probably been doing so for quite some time.
Damn it.This whole thing was a total mess.
"So that's how the Mad Titan noticed Earth?"
On the other end, Nick Fury — reading his own copy of the diary — froze in shock.
He had been obsessing over the coming "Battle of New York" for ages, pouring everything into preparing for it —the Whiplash Task Force, the early Avengers Initiative, every possible defense plan.
He'd even hoped to find a way to prevent the battle altogether.
And when the diary hinted that the war might be avoided, he'd felt genuine relief.
But now, to learn that the one who caused it…was himself?
That it was his order to study the Cosmic Cube that started it all?
Tony's guess was right.S.H.I.E.L.D. had been secretly researching the Cube all along.
They hadn't managed to recruit Tony Stark or Dr. Selvig yet,but Fury's plans had continued nonetheless.
The research never stopped — even if progress was minimal.
Especially after learning about that grim future from the diary,Fury had only intensified his study of the Cube.
And now, he was staring at the bitter fruit of his own actions.
Even someone as composed as Fury couldn't stop his eye from twitching. His head was pounding.
Should he stop the research now?
That was the question weighing on his mind.It was a major decision — one that needed careful thought.
[The Mad Titan has always been obsessed with gathering the Infinity Stones. Once he learned the Cosmic Cube was on Earth, there's no way he'd ignore it.][He'd definitely try to seize it — after all, the Cube contains the Space Stone!][So even if Loki hadn't fallen into the Titan's clutches, he still would've found another way to invade Earth.][But Earth is Odin's territory, and the Ancient One watches over it — the Titan wouldn't dare attack openly.][He'd use proxies — cannon fodder — to test the waters first.][So in the end, maybe the Battle of New York was inevitable.]
Confirmed!
Tony Stark's eyes narrowed.
He had long suspected that the Mad Titan's power was growing — that he was collecting the Infinity Stones. Now, the diary confirmed it beyond doubt.
The Mad Titan was gathering the Stones.
But why?
What did he intend to do once he had them all?Once complete, the Infinity Stones would give him power equal to Odin or the Ancient One.
What would he use that power for?To rule the universe?Or something even darker?
Whatever his goal, it was undeniable —the Titan's crusade had drowned the universe in endless wars and massacres.
He'd wiped out half of all life.
Of course, the Avengers themselves would also gather the Stones one day —Black Widow even sacrificed her life for that cause.
Tony didn't yet know their reasons, but when he compared the Avengers' actions to the Titan's,he sensed there was a connection.
Undeniably — it all revolved around the Titan.
"What?! The Cosmic Cube contains the Space Stone?"
When he read that part, Tony was stunned.
Everyone knew from the diary that the Infinity Stones were insanely powerful —enough to let the Titan challenge gods.
But such godlike objects had always seemed out of reach — far above their level.
Even knowing that the future Avengers would collect them someday, none of them imagined they'd come so close to one now.
And yet… the Infinity Stone was right here.In S.H.I.E.L.D.'s hands!
The Cosmic Cube — was actually an Infinity Stone!
That was beyond shocking.
Tony had always known the Cube wasn't some ordinary artifact —but to think it was the Space Stone itself!
With the Power Stone, the Time Stone, and now the Space Stone revealed, the diary had exposed three of the six.
And Tony also knew that somewhere out in space — on Vormir — there was another one.Though which Stone that was, he couldn't say.
Wait a second—Space Stone?
Portals?
Tony's eyes lit up.
The name "Space Stone" was practically self-explanatory —it had to be capable of space transportation.
And during the Battle of New York — there was a portal!
That massive rift through which the Chitauri army poured. It must've been opened by Loki.
And before that?Loki had just stolen the Cosmic Cube from S.H.I.E.L.D.!
The timing fit perfectly — every piece lined up.
So, could it be that Loki used the Cosmic Cube to open the portal and summon the Chitauri fleet?
That had to be it!
If so, even if Fury's research on the Cube had drawn the Titan's attention and led to the invasion, there was still a way to fix it.
Simple: don't let Loki steal the Cube.
If they could keep the Cosmic Cube safe,Loki wouldn't be able to open the portal —and the Chitauri wouldn't be able to invade Earth.
That would be the best outcome possible!
Would the Titan then send an army directly instead?
Tony thought about it — unlikely. Not while Odin and the Ancient One were still around.
If the Titan really had the guts,he'd have sent his fleets long ago —he wouldn't need Loki or portals at all.
No — he used the Space Stone precisely to avoid Odin's notice.
Which meant…The Battle of New York might still be prevented!
