Chapter 135 - The Corrupted Doctor Strange — Destroying an Entire Universe Alone

After carefully pondering over the name "Time Variance Authority," and combining it with the spoilers from the diary,Tony Stark gained a clearer and deeper understanding of this seemingly almighty organization.

Obviously, although he didn't yet know the exact standard by which the "Sacred Timeline" was determined, it was apparent that the TVA treated any event not in line with that Sacred Timeline as a "time variant event."

And the so-called Time Variance Authority — was the organization that handled such "time variant" incidents.

Just like Loki's escape!

As for the Avengers, who also disrupted the timeline, they were deemed to be acting within the Sacred Timeline — meaning nothing happened to them!

At this point, the playboy had figured it out.Whether something was a "time variant" or not… really had nothing to do with time at all.

It was entirely up to the TVA.

If the TVA thought you were fine, then even if you did something that completely disrupted the timeline, nothing would happen. But if the TVA decided you were a problem — then even if you didn't disrupt a thing?

They'd still come for you.

In an instant, Tony Stark felt an overwhelming sense of disgust toward this so-called TVA.

Even though, according to the diary's spoilers, the TVA seemed rather friendly toward the Avengers in the future, Tony Stark still found them utterly detestable.

Did the Avengers really need the TVA's approval for their actions?Did they need the TVA's permission?

Who the hell did the TVA think they were?

If this "Sacred Timeline" truly existed, didn't that mean the lives of all Avengers — himself included — had already been written out in advance by the TVA?

Everyone, including Tony Stark himself, would have to live according to a pre-written script?Otherwise, they'd be deemed a "variant" and dragged off by the TVA — just like Loki?

The very thought of it made every nerve in his body itch with unease.

If he could, he'd put on his Iron Man armor and blast that so-called Time Variance Authority to smithereens.

Of course, that was just a fleeting thought.

Although the diary didn't specify the TVA's power structure, the fact that they could capture Loki, toy with him, and even force him to work for them — spoke volumes.

After all, Loki was still a god.

And not just any god — he was Odin's adopted son, the prince of Jotunheim, the infamous God of Mischief.

If even a god like that was powerless before the TVA, Tony could easily imagine what kind of monstrous organization it was.

As for the female Loki? That immediately caught the playboy's attention.

Since the TVA, with all its power, had taken interest in her, there was no doubt this female Loki must also be an extraordinary figure.

Tony wasn't exactly sure what relationship existed between her and the Loki he knew, but he doubted it was merely a coincidence of names.

There must be some deeper connection between the two — though it wasn't something he could figure out just by sitting and thinking.

[The Avengers are one thing. Although they did travel through time, they carefully followed the "time-travel rules."][They didn't deliberately alter history or mess around in the past timeline, so the TVA allowing it kind of makes sense.][But the universe of the corrupted Doctor Strange — that's completely different!][To save his lover, he traveled back in time over and over again, repeatedly trying to change history.][He even went as far as to absorb energy from the Dark Dimension, utterly corrupting himself!][Yet, from beginning to end, the TVA never showed up. Even when Doctor Strange destroyed his entire universe, they were nowhere to be seen.][They ignore that, but go after Loki? Really? What a joke.]

???

A few question marks popped up in Tony Stark's mind.

The Avengers didn't change history when they time-traveled?Fine, now that he knew about the TVA and the Sacred Timeline, he understood that altering history wasn't allowed.

There was a high chance the TVA would come for you if you did.

But that made him even more confused.

If you can't change history, then what's the point of time travel at all?In all those movies, people traveled through time to change the past — to fix regrets, to right wrongs.

If not for that, why go back?Just to sightsee?

To go back, do absolutely nothing, then return? What would even be the point?

It was worth noting that Tony hadn't yet deeply studied the grand concept of time travel. He didn't yet grasp the Marvel logic that changing the past doesn't change the future.

So naturally, he couldn't help but question it.

But as expected, without more context, he couldn't figure out what exactly the Avengers' time travel had accomplished — and decided to stop overthinking it.

Instead, he turned his attention to the corrupted Doctor Strange.

His brows furrowed.

Another corrupted superhero!

Wasn't one Scarlet Witch enough? Now a Doctor Strange too? Both steeped in magic — one a witch, the other a sorcerer. The resemblance was uncanny.

The Scarlet Witch went berserk and rampaged across the multiverse — so what about Doctor Strange?

Good lord!

Tony nearly said it out loud.

If the corrupted Scarlet Witch was terrifying, the corrupted Doctor Strange was no less —He didn't just kill across the multiverse, he destroyed an entire universe.

Not a planet — a universe.

The vastness of the universe was beyond comprehension. Even with all his scientific knowledge, Tony couldn't define it precisely.

Science estimated the observable universe to be 46.5 billion light-years — but that was just a calculation, not observation.

In truth, it was unknowable.

So how large was the real universe?

Tony couldn't give a definite answer.

If he had to sum it up in one word, it would be — infinite.

Infinite time and space.

And yet... someone destroyed all of it.

Just thinking about it made Tony's scalp tingle.

Was that even power a human — or anyone — could possess?

To him, the fact that a corrupted Doctor Strange could destroy the universe was even more shocking than Thanos erasing half of all life.

They weren't even on the same level.

"Doctor Strange!"

In front of another diary, Nick Fury's expression turned extremely grim.

From the wording, it seemed to have happened in another parallel universe — not in Universe-199999.

But the problem was… Nick Fury wasn't even sure that his own universe was 199999.

Given how eerily similar parallel universes tended to be, there was no way he could ignore it.

If that corrupted Doctor Strange really was from their universe… they'd be screwed.

He had to find Doctor Strange — immediately!

Fury silently made that decision in his heart.

And Strange's lover — she too had to be closely monitored.

The diary made it clear: Doctor Strange had fallen into darkness to save his lover. In other words — something terrible would happen to her.

Which meant S.H.I.E.L.D. needed to make sure it never did.

They had to eliminate this threat from the source.

There was nothing more to discuss.

[Though honestly, being caught by the TVA might've been a good thing for Loki.][At least he avoided being strangled to death by the purple potato in the end.][Come to think of it, Loki's fate was pretty tragic — just like Thor's. The two brothers truly shared their misfortunes.][Whether the TVA intervened or not, Loki's ending was never good.][In fact, not just in one universe — in every universe across the multiverse, his fate was the same.][In the TVA alone, there are countless Lokis locked up. Who knows how many?]

Well, damn.

Tony Stark didn't even know what to say.

The diary wasn't wrong — Loki really was pitiful.

Being caught by the TVA and forced to work for them was humiliating enough for a god.But the alternative? Being strangled to death by Thanos?

That was worse.

Which meant the timeline was clear: if Loki hadn't been caught by the TVA, he'd have ended up dead at Thanos's hands.

So that's why the TVA considered that the "Sacred Timeline"?

Because it was what was "supposed" to happen?

So according to the TVA — Loki was meant to die?

What nonsense!

Even though Tony had no love for Loki — the instigator of the New York invasion — he couldn't help but feel indignant.

What kind of joke was that? Why should Loki die?

Who gave the TVA the right to decide that?

If they could decide Loki's fate, didn't that mean they could decide anyone's?Including his?

Absurd!

And yet... Loki had been manipulated by Thanos during the New York invasion.Strictly speaking, they were allies back then.

But in the end, Loki still died by Thanos's hand — strangled, no less.An utterly humiliating death that also underscored Thanos's overwhelming strength.

To kill Loki bare-handed — Thanos truly stood at the pinnacle of the cosmos.

"Multiverse?"

When Tony's gaze fell on that word, he couldn't help but click his tongue in disbelief.

So the TVA wasn't just an organization governing time — it was one that stood above the multiverse?

That was insane.

Gulp.

Even Tony Stark couldn't help swallowing hard.

He'd known about the multiverse since the first day he read the diary. But even after all this time, he'd never imagined there could be an organization above it.

That was on a whole different level — far beyond merely "observing" or "cataloging" the multiverse.

So who was behind the TVA?What kind of being could create such an organization?

One of the five cosmic entities, like Eternity?

Hard to even imagine.

But one thing suddenly clicked for Tony.

The "female Loki" mentioned earlier — she was probably just another version of Loki from a different universe. He'd been thinking too narrowly before, assuming it was all in the same reality.

Now it all made sense.

Across the countless multiverses, there existed a multitude of Lokis — and they'd all been captured by the TVA.Tony couldn't help but sigh.

How tragic.Utterly tragic.

Poor Loki — what did he ever do to deserve this?

[And among that countless number of Lokis, only the Loki of this universe — no, the Loki of Universe-199999 — and the female Loki managed to truly rise up.][The two of them worked together, unmasking the fake Time Keepers, and met the real ones.][They even broke free from the TVA's control.][Whatever else you say, that was one hell of an achievement.][But the rest of the Lokis were left trapped forever in that dangerous place.]

Time Keepers?

Tony Stark's eyes narrowed, and he let out a cold snort.

What a grand title.Did time really need to be "kept"?

These so-called Time Keepers weren't protecting time — they were protecting the Sacred Timeline.Or, to put it plainly — the events on that Sacred Timeline.

Based on all the diary's spoilers, the TVA's purpose was to keep every universe's events following that one pre-approved script.

So what was the point? Were these Time Keepers just bored, or did they have some deeper motive?Or maybe there were higher rules governing the multiverse that he simply couldn't comprehend yet?

Whatever the case, Tony Stark knew one thing —At his current level, this was far beyond his reach.
