Chapter 41 - Chapter 41: Subjugation Completed

Noah pressed his palms together, then slowly pulled them apart. Between his hands, a sphere of golden light stretched and elongated, reshaping itself into the form of a blade.

When his arms were fully extended, a radiant sword shimmered in his grasp. Noah tightened his right hand around the hilt, raised the weapon upright, and steadied it with his left hand bracing the pommel.

"The Murakumo Sword… no," he murmured with a faint smile, "let's call it the Sword of Promised Victory for now."

Golden motes of magic drifted from the air itself, converging onto the blade. The lightsaber grew brighter with every heartbeat, until it burned like a miniature sun in Noah's hands.

Deliora's massive form shuddered violently. It strained against the suppressive field of the Swords of Light, but the demon could manage only a faint twitch of its fingers, a half-opened maw. Its immortal arrogance was shackled by golden chains it could not break.

Then the blade's brilliance shifted. Its radiance softened, no longer scorching but warm, as if suffused with life itself.

Noah inhaled deeply, his voice carrying the rhythm of an incantation.

"Gathering breath of stars… shining stream of life… take it! Ex calibur!"

He stepped forward. Magic flared, pressing outward in a suffocating wave, and the wind howled as if driven by fear. With a decisive swing, Noah brought the blade down, and from its tip burst an overwhelming torrent of golden energy.

The stream of light cleaved the battlefield itself. Air cracked like shattered glass. The ground split open in jagged fissures. Everything in its path was drowned by blinding brilliance.

Deliora's massive body was engulfed, golden energy eating away at its flesh and spirit alike. It roared, thrashing against invisible chains, but the sealing blades held it fast. The more it struggled, the more the light consumed it.

The torrent raged until the gathered energy within the blade was spent. As the sword dimmed, Noah let the spell fade, lowering his arms with a faint sigh.

"This was just raw magical release, without refinement," he muttered, analyzing his own handiwork even in battle. "The power is decent, but still lacking. I'll need to improve it later… After all, a move that flashy deserves perfection."

The dust cleared. Deliora's body steamed under the lingering heat, its flesh charred and fissured. The wounds no longer closed. Its vaunted recovery was crippled. Blind eyes glared in Noah's direction, and the once-unstoppable demon let out a feeble, resentful roar.

Noah approached cautiously. From the remains, he collected fragments of tissue and sealed them away with precision. This was no ordinary monster it was one of Zeref's creations. Researching its structure might unlock secrets worth knowing.

After retreating to a safe distance, he reinforced the Sword of Light around Deliora's body, preventing even the faintest hope of escape.

He exhaled and lifted his gaze. "Now, it's time to end this. Thank you for the fight, Deliora… but this is farewell."

Golden light surged through his body once more. Noah raised his right arm to the heavens, clenching his fist.

"Gather river of light guided by fairies!"

The magic burst forth in a colossal beam that pierced the sky. Above, daylight shifted unnaturally. Stars shimmered into existence, and even the blazing sun seemed to bow before the call of magic.

"Shine brightly! To destroy the minions of evil!"

The heavens dimmed in unison. Light from every star and the sun itself converged, weaving together into a single radiant halo that hovered in the sky. Its brilliance eclipsed the world, blinding in its purity.

Noah steadied his stance, his left hand bracing his right elbow as he aimed his fist at the bound demon.

"Fairy Glory!"

The halo descended, collapsing like a judgment from the heavens. It enveloped Deliora completely, pressing down with divine brilliance. The demon's howl echoed, a sound of rage and despair as its so-called immortality was unraveled, its body dissolving under the relentless flood of fairy light.

"Roooaaarrrr!"

The cry of the great demon reverberated across the land then faded, swallowed by the radiance of Noah's final spell.

Noah shook his head lightly.

"There's no need for thanks. This battle wasn't just for you it was something I had to do as well. Deliora was a calamity. Now that it's gone, the world has one less nightmare to fear."

Ulu's expression softened. She looked at Gray, whose cheeks were still streaked with tears, then at Lyon, who silently clenched his fists. Both of her disciples seemed more mature in that moment, as though a heavy chain binding their hearts had finally broken.

Gildarts chuckled and patted Noah's shoulder.

"Hah, you really outdid yourself, Noah. Even I was shocked by that magic of yours. Looks like Fairy Tail's younger generation is something else entirely."

Noah smiled faintly, his face still pale from the drain of power.

"It was reckless, honestly. I forced techniques I haven't perfected yet. If Deliora had resisted even a little longer, I might have been the one lying in that pit."

Gray shook his head firmly.

"Even so, you did it. My family… they can finally rest in peace. I'll never forget this."

The air around them felt lighter now. The oppressive presence of Deliora, which had once shrouded the land like a curse, was gone. Birds began to chirp again in the distance, as though nature itself was celebrating the demon's end.

Ulu crossed her arms, but there was relief in her eyes.

"Gray. Lyon. From today, the shadow of Deliora no longer binds you. Live properly. Grow strong. Don't waste the second chance life has given you."

"Yes, Master," Gray answered, his voice steadier than before. Lyon gave a quiet nod, though his pride wouldn't allow him to say more.

Gildarts let out a hearty laugh.

"Well, that's settled then! The big demon's gone, the kids are safe, and Noah nearly blew up half the continent sounds like a job well done to me!"

Everyone smiled faintly at his joke, the heavy tension finally breaking.

Noah turned his gaze toward the sky, where faint traces of golden light still lingered like falling stars.

"Deliora is gone. But demons like it, and the darkness that created them… that won't disappear so easily. We'll have to be ready for what's to come."

Ulu gave him a long look, sensing the weight in his words, but said nothing. The group began making their way down the ruined valley together, each carrying their own thoughts but united by the shared memory of the day Deliora finally fell.
