[Serious Punch]: Saitama's Serious Punch. Splits the Earth with a single blow, ignores all physical and magical defenses. Cooldown: three hundred and sixty-five days!
In the comfort of his large white bed in his mansion, Cassius opened his arms and read the description of his new reward.
"Saitama's Serious Punch?" He nodded slightly at the new reward. He knew that this was Saitama's signature move, but he never expected to get such an overpowered reward. With a single punch, there was probably nothing on the surface of the Earth that could withstand it.
"Too bad it's practically a one-time thing," Cassius let out a long sigh. Even with a cooldown, three hundred and sixty-five days was a bit too long. He shook his head and pushed the thought out of his mind. He had the system, so getting stronger was only a matter of time.
Ding!
The phone on his brown nightstand vibrated. Cassius picked it up and smiled when he saw the message. It was from Wanda!
[Wanda]: Are you asleep?
In the Avengers Compound, in the Scarlet Witch's room, Wanda lay on the bed in a sheer red nightgown. The crimson fabric couldn't completely hide her fair skin. Her chest was pressed against the bed as she tossed and turned.
Every time she closed her eyes, the one person she had been thinking about appeared in her mind. She couldn't help but search for information about Cassius online. She couldn't help but giggle at the photos she saw, and her longing for him grew stronger. They hadn't been apart for long, but it felt like a lifetime.
After a long hesitation, she finally picked up her phone and sent a message to Cassius. At this moment, she was like a young girl, afraid that he wouldn't reply.
[Cassius]: What's up? Do you miss me?
The moment the message popped up, Wanda's body tensed, and a smile appeared on her lips. It was the first time she had ever been so happy to receive a message.
[Wanda]: Do I have to miss you to send you a message?
Wanda stared at the screen, her fair feet swaying back and forth. Cassius chuckled at the message. He could tell that the little witch was already head over heels for him!
[Cassius]: My cute little witch, are you hungry for some breakfast?
"Breakfast?" Wanda was stunned for a moment, then remembered what Cassius had said that morning. Her face immediately turned red.
[Can you be serious?!]
She typed furiously. Although she replied that way, she wasn't against it. It was at times like these that she felt a true connection with him. She knew that she had already started to depend on Cassius.
To be honest, she couldn't believe that she had fallen in love with someone so quickly. She knew it was wrong, but she still wanted to get closer to him.
[Cassius]: When are you free? We should go out and celebrate you finally being free from that damn public opinion.
Wanda couldn't hold back her joy, and her feet swayed even more. At this moment, she wasn't the invincible Scarlet Witch, but a young girl.
[Wanda]: The night after tomorrow. We should go out for dinner?
Wanda quickly typed the message and sent it. The reason she chose the night after tomorrow was because she had a press conference to attend tomorrow. Otherwise, she wouldn't have wanted to wait another second.
[Cassius]: No problem. See you the day after tomorrow, my little witch.
"Yes!" Wanda clenched her fists and shouted in joy. She would be able to see Cassius again the day after tomorrow.
She looked at a photo of Cassius once more before reluctantly putting her phone aside. But unlike before, she fell asleep content.
Should I be honest with Cassius... and tell him how I feel...
This was Wanda's last thought before she fell asleep.
On the other side, Cassius also put down his phone. He had a busy day today, so it was time to get some rest. He promised to go with Gwen to visit her father tomorrow.
The next morning.
Ding-ding~
The brass bell on the oak door of an English-style cafe in New York City jingled. A familiar figure appeared inside.
"Cassius, my dear old friend, I missed you!" Kru, who was wiping the tables, greeted Cassius happily.
"Uncle Kru, I don't think you missed me. I think you missed the money in my pocket!" Cassius sat down in his usual chair and chuckled.
"How can you say that? I think you're a very interesting person." Kru laughed, waving his hand dismissively even though Cassius was right. "What can I get for you today?"
"The usual." Cassius said casually.
A few moments later, Kru placed a cup of Blue Mountain coffee in front of Cassius.
Ding!
[You have tasted a special grade Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee!]
[Reward: One hundred thousand dollars!]
A news report was playing on the television mounted on the wall.
[Last night, rumors spread that the king of the underworld, Wilson Fisk, was severely beaten and injured!]
[Our station is still following this case!]
"The media today is so bold. They actually dare to make up rumors about Wilson Fisk. Is there anyone in all of New York who can take on Wilson Fisk?" Uncle Kru muttered, stroking his thick beard.
"The king of the underworld..." Cassius glanced at the news and then at his swirling coffee.
"You think it's ridiculous, too, right?" Kru returned to the counter and said with a loud laugh.
Cassius just smiled and didn't say anything, occasionally looking out the door. He stopped stirring his silver spoon when a beautiful figure appeared outside the window.
Ding-ding!
As the oak door opened, the sunlight filled the cafe, and a vibrant figure walked in. It was Gwen. She was wearing a light-colored plaid coat and walked quickly toward Cassius. The wind she brought with her was mixed with the scent of oranges.
"Mr. Cassius." Gwen smiled and greeted him.
"You look beautiful today!" Cassius was stunned by her outfit and didn't hold back his praise.
"Thank you." Gwen's hands went behind her back, flustered by Cassius's direct gaze. All she could think about was what had happened yesterday. She had been impulsive and bold.
"Uncle Kru, a cafe au lait, please!" Cassius called out to Uncle Kru, then turned to Gwen. "Sit down. This cafe has great coffee."
As a seasoned flirt, he knew that sometimes it was better not to ask but to just decide. It could increase a man's charm.
"Okay." Gwen sat down carefully across from Cassius.
"You weren't so shy yesterday. You were a lot more courageous then." Cassius couldn't help but tease her a little.
"I..." Gwen's face instantly turned red. She quickly picked up her coffee and took a sip, but it was so hot that she sucked in a sharp breath. She lowered her head, knowing she had been too impulsive. Although Cassius was handsome, what she did was too presumptuous.
"I'm not going to tease you anymore. After we finish our coffee, we'll go to the hospital to see Mr. Stacy." Cassius stopped teasing her and got to the point.
"What about... the equipment and stuff..." Gwen had noticed that Cassius hadn't brought any equipment.
"No equipment needed. We'll just go and see him." Cassius shook his head.
"Just to see him?" Gwen was a little disappointed. She had hoped that Cassius had a way to treat her father, because Cassius had brought her so many surprises...
.....
Queen's Saint John's Hospital.
This was the best hospital in Queens, and it was crowded with people every day.
"Gwen! Over here!" As soon as they entered the hospital corridor, Gwen's mother, Helen, called out to her. She had been waiting there since early in the morning.
"Mom!" Gwen quickened her pace and brought Cassius to Helen. Helen looked at the young man next to Gwen and asked, "Who is this?"
"Mom, this is Mr. Cassius!" Gwen quickly introduced him. She had told Helen yesterday that she would bring someone to help her father.
"He?" Helen looked Cassius up and down, her expression a little strange. He didn't look like a doctor; he was too young and seemed very wealthy.
"Mom, I'm going to take Mr. Cassius inside to take a look first." Gwen quickly pulled Cassius inside and explained, "Don't mind her. My mom is very worried about my dad."
"It's fine." Cassius didn't mind and looked at the person on the bed. George Stacy's face was pale, and it seemed he had been unconscious for a long time.
"He's been in a coma for over half a year now," Gwen said, her eyes welling up. Helen, who had followed them in, put her arm around Gwen and asked, "Can you see if he'll ever wake up?"
"Uncle Stacy's condition is very bad. Normally, he might not ever wake up again." Cassius's judgment was made after just two glances. His words made both the mother and daughter's faces turn pale and their hearts fill with grief.
He changed his tone. "But..."
BZZT!!!
Cassius's palm glowed, but the two women didn't notice the subtle movement. In the next second...
"Cough, cough, cough!!!"
George suddenly started coughing violently. His eyes shot open, and he gasped for air, looking confused. Seeing this sudden turn of events, the mother and daughter were stunned for a moment, and then tears streamed down their faces!
"Dad!"
"My dear!" Gwen and Helen sobbed as they rushed to hug George.
Cassius stood behind them with a smile, watching the family reunite. The Horse Talisman's rune was glowing in his palm.
