Chapter 31 - A Lace Top, Did You Bring a Gun?

On a street in downtown New York.

"It's fine. We'll catch up when you're free." Cassius leaned against his Cayenne, his phone in hand. This was the third beautiful woman who had come up to him and asked to add his number. He couldn't help but marvel at the charm of a nice car.

Ding!

His phone vibrated.

[Wanda]: Cassius, when are you free?

Cassius smiled when he saw the message. She really couldn't wait.

[Cassius]: You're a greedy little kitten. Are you that eager to eat?

[Wanda]: Don't be ridiculous! Just tell me when you're free so I can make a reservation.

In her room, Wanda was looking at all the red clothes in her closet, feeling troubled. When she saw the message, her cheeks flushed, and her legs unconsciously squeezed together.

Cassius hesitated for a moment before typing.

[Cassius]: How about eight tonight?

[Wanda]: Okay, see you tonight at Saint Yvis Restaurant!

[Cassius]: Sounds good.

After replying, Wanda's lips curled up, and she hummed a tune. Looking at all the clothes, she finally settled on a sheer lace top.

"Mr. Cassius!" Just as Cassius was about to put his phone away, someone tapped him on the shoulder. He turned to see the lovely Gwen. When he noticed what she was wearing, he was momentarily stunned.

The fair-skinned Gwen was wearing a fitted, pure white shirt. The slightly open collar revealed her white, slender neck. Her short hair was silky smooth, giving her an elegant yet stunning look and highlighting her fair skin. The thin shirt showed off her curves, and the deep V-neckline made him appreciate her figure. Although her body wasn't as explosive as Wanda's, her youthful charm made him a little restless.

"You're here?" Cassius's heart was racing, but he remained calm on the surface, casually putting his phone in his pocket.

"What were you so busy with just now, Mr. Cassius? You looked really focused." From a distance, Gwen had noticed that Cassius was constantly replying to messages.

"Nothing, just arranging some things for tonight." Cassius said nonchalantly, not even blinking as he spoke. "By the way, your outfit today is very beautiful!" As a man who had been around the block, he was an expert at changing the subject.

"Really?!" Gwen was immediately captivated by his words and excitedly spun around. She slightly bent over, showing off her figure. She had spent over an hour choosing her outfit for the date.

Looking at her, Cassius couldn't help but sigh. She was a walking clothes rack; she could pull off any style.

"How is Mr. Stacy doing?" Cassius cleared his throat and looked away. Good wine is great, but don't drink too much.

"Thanks to you, my dad is back to his old self again, and he can go back to work at the police station!" Gwen's face lit up with a huge smile as she talked about it. Yesterday, after confirming that there were no issues, her father couldn't wait to go back and test his gun. The police station also agreed to let him return to his position. For her father, it was the best news he could have ever received.

"By the way, where are we going for dinner?" Since Gwen was treating, Cassius hadn't made a reservation.

"Can we walk around for a bit first?" For some reason, Gwen didn't answer Cassius's question. Instead, she asked with wide, blinking eyes, her hands behind her back.

Cassius glanced at his watch and nodded slightly. "Whatever you want." It was only six in the evening, so there was still plenty of time.

"Follow me!" Gwen smiled happily, took Cassius's hand, and walked quickly forward. When she did this, her cheeks flushed, but she didn't let go. She led Cassius through a few streets to a forest park.

It was autumn, and the park was filled with maple trees. The setting sun shone through the leaves, creating a Tyndall effect, and beams of light shone on the ground covered in maple leaves.

The yellow leaves formed a forest, and the two walked on the fallen leaves, making a rustling sound as the afterglow of the sunset shone down. They sat on a wooden bench in the park, watching the sun slowly set on the horizon.

"This is a really nice view," Cassius said, looking up at the falling leaves. He rarely came to Queens and had never known that there was such a beautiful view here. The view was pleasant, but the beauty next to him was even more so. In the afterglow of the sunset, Gwen looked even more adorable.

"Yeah." Gwen looked deeply at Cassius. "I love it here. I come almost every day." It was only in the park that she could temporarily escape the sadness in her heart.

"I thought people in Queens would have gotten tired of this view a long time ago." Cassius turned to look at Gwen and teased her.

"When my dad was in a coma, I would always come here alone to clear my head whenever I was feeling down." Their eyes met, and Gwen spoke softly. "But my mood now is completely different. Everything is finally getting better!"

Back then, she had to work part-time to help support her family and also fight crime to uphold her sense of justice. She barely had any time for herself, so she would only come here for a few minutes to watch the sunset. Now that things were finally getting better, it felt like a dream.

"As long as you stay positive, a lot of things will get better," Cassius said with a smile, ruffling Gwen's head. He knew that she had been through enough already. After all, she was still just a student.

At that moment, with a gust of fragrance, a soft body suddenly fell into his arms. The fresh scent of oranges filled his lungs. He was stunned to have this warm, soft body in his arms. He had no idea that Gwen would just pounce on him at that moment.

The air was still, and neither of them said anything. Cassius hugged Gwen and savored the peaceful moment.

"Um, did you bring a gun with you?" Gwen said with an awkward tone after a while.

"Huh?" Cassius's expression became a little awkward. "It's fine. It's normal to carry a gun with you when you go out!"

"Oh." Gwen didn't move away. Instead, she hugged Cassius tighter, her ears red.

"Let's go get something to eat!" Cassius said awkwardly, checking the time.

"Okay." Gwen nodded slightly and took Cassius's hand.

"By the way, where is the restaurant you booked?" Cassius asked.

"It's nearby. We'll be there soon." Gwen led Cassius out of the park. She felt a mix of emotions as she felt the warmth of his hand in hers.

"By the way, Cassius, are you and Wanda close? Have you known each other for a long time?" She had thought about it yesterday. Otherwise, Wanda wouldn't have gone out alone with him.

"Very close, but we've only known each other for a week." After saying this, Cassius couldn't help but think to himself that they were so close he knew her in and out. But he was also being truthful, as they had only known each other for a week. However, because of the Phoenix Force and Chaos Magic, they had become very familiar with each other.

"So you've only known each other for a week?" Gwen's heart soared. This was much better than she had imagined. She didn't even know what their relationship was. Her gut feeling at the time was that they seemed very close.

"Where is the restaurant you were talking about?" Cassius stopped and looked around.

"It's over there." Gwen pointed to a fancy restaurant in the corner. The sign said "Saint Yvis Restaurant."

"Saint Yvis?!" Cassius's mouth twitched, and he raised an eyebrow. Wait a minute... if I'm not mistaken, Wanda also booked this restaurant!
