Chapter 24 - Creating Spells

The punch that she had thrown wasn't anything special, she could do it even without the 'key'.

But, if she did that, it would be completely instinctive. And she would barely understand exactly what she had done, and there would be a chance of failure, no matter how insignificant it was.

And that was the problem. This was a very simple technique that barely demanded anything from her. If she tried to cast a drastically more complex spell, the chances of failure were very high.

But now....

[You understand what you should do now?]

Lilith nodded, determination on her face.

[We have different methods to create spells, each with its own drawbacks and advantages. Mine is precise and consistent, but slow and hard. Yours is fast and unique, but inconsistent and random. Lily, use both methods to find the correct encryption key to the spell [Soul Flash]...]

She nodded, a little bit with excitement.

Lilith closed her eyes and focused on her inner world.

Her heavenly essence began flowing through her pathways again, starting with the same pattern as before.

It changed its rhyme, power, speed, and countless other characteristics when it reached certain pathway groups and orbs.

This time, however, she gave each group a certain code. So that she knew what key she was using, not relying on her instincts alone.

Time passed, and her body twitched with every moment.

And then...

Boom!

Lilith hit the wall again, falling on her butt afterwards.

However, she wasn't disheartened as she stood up almost instantly and began recasting the spell.

[Which codes failed?]

Noah asked, almost expecting her failure.

[It was the codes of group FG232, SG65, and D12. Also, I must change the position of S234 and use it after L16...]

Despite her failure, Lilith was excited. The reason being that she didn't need to rely on only instincts this time.

Now, she knows which groups and sequences failed, and what she should avoid next.

Boom!

She failed again, but stood up instantly.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

She failed again and again, until...

Shew!

Her body flickered and flashed in a blur. She disappeared, but instead of hitting the wall again, she appeared ten meters further than her earlier position.

Lilith almost stumbled, but quickly regained her stability. After a moment of shock, she lifted her arms and screamed in joy.

"Fuck yeah!"

Shew! Shew! Shew!

She recast [Soul Flash] over and over again, disappearing and reappearing multiple meters away in an instant each time.

After a while of testing, she stopped and took a deep breath.

[Congratulations, you have just created your first complete Category 1 Spell.]

Noah applauded in her mind which prompted her to smile.

[Now, get your ass back to work. We need more spells.]

Her smile disappeared instantly, and she went back to the book and sat cross-legged.

[Hmph! I was already about to do that, now I feel like not doing it because you said so!]

He scoffed.

[That's the goal.]

She did her best not to lash out and shifted her focus back to the book. She flipped through it, looking for a stealth spell.

The first two Pathways didn't have what she wanted, so she went to the last Pathway.

The Storm Pathway.

Although she thought that the Pathway was more aligned with offense rather than stealth, she was surprised to find a spell that fit her needs.

Unlike the other spell, this one had a rather nice name. With that thought, she read the description.

[Your body shall be the eye of the storm, while the world is where your will spreads destruction. The spell allows the caster to suppress their presence to near perfection within a certain circle, however, their presence would be dispersed in a wider circle relatively further than them.]

Lilith understood the implications. Theoretically, she could almost absolutely suppress her presence within a diameter of 50 meters. However, she would have to automatically disperse it in a second diameter of 250 meters that starts from the edge of the first one.

Just like a storm.

It had obvious disadvantages, but that was to be expected. After all, it was a Rank 1 Spell.

She injected her heavenly essence into the book, and a complex diagram appeared in her mind.

She observed it for a while, then frowned.

It would be hard to modify this spell to be usable...

Nevertheless, she closed her eyes and entered a meditative state.

A day passed like that, and she slept on her back.

She woke up again, and after eating some of the flesh of the eagle, she went back to meditate.

But she barely made any progress, she felt that she could succeed, but the time needed wasn't in her favor.

On the second day of her attempts, her brother said something interesting.

[How about you try to enter the Soul Realm? It should help you.]

Hearing his words, Lilith almost slapped herself on the face. How had she forgotten such an important thing?

Oh, fuck me! I'm also the Soul Calamity, how did I forget about the Soul Realm?!

The material world was built on the foundation of countless other realms. The Space Realm, Time Realm, Fire Realm, Water Realm... And many others.

Among them, there was a unique case, the Soul Realm.

To become a Heavenly Ascender, one must make a far stronger connection between one's soul and the Soul Realm. After succeeding, the Soul Realm becomes open for everyone, regardless of their Rank and Pathway.

And now, Lilith wasn't only connected to it, no... She was the Calamity of the Soul Pathway, meaning that she held supreme authority over everything related to souls.

What would it be like to enter to the Soul Realm now?

With great excitement, she put the book at the side and stood up. She closed her eyes, and let her consciousness drift.

She felt her grip on reality slip, and she felt her being sway and tilt, like the other times that she entered the Soul Realm.

However, this time proved to be different...

Thud.

Lilith fell headfirst, her face buried in the dirt.

She regained her senses and coughed, spitting the dirt that had entered her mouth.

Lilith had failed.
