The beam almost caught up with her numerous times, and to throw it off, she either slid, slowed down and then immediately accelerated, or changed her path to make the angle of the beam awkward.
Nevertheless, it was obvious to her that she would get hit by it eventually if she kept the status quo.
As of now, the terrain was completely changed.
The previous large clearing had now expanded to a radius of 500 meters, filled with broken and fallen trees. The once-tight wooden maze now had a big open area in it.
That put Lilith in more danger, as her chances of abandoning the fight and retreating were down by half.
More and more Rank 1 wolves died, and eventually, all of them did, leaving only the five Rank 2 wolves.
Seeing that, Lilith stopped circling around them and suddenly made an extremely sharp turn.
Her muscles strained, and her pathways protested as she felt them ache.
The constant circling stopped suddenly, and she charged at the formation of the remaining wolves. With her terrifying speed, it would only take a few blinks to reach them.
The wolf leader aimed the beam at her, and Lilith relied on her combined Nightmare Elf and Calamity senses, zigzagging and crouching down in specific moments to avoid getting hit by it just in time. It almost touched her several times, and her skin was forced to endure a terrifying cold.
Seeing that she had fallen for its trap, the alpha turned material, and so did the others.
Lilith felt something bad coming, and she hastily stopped, her momentum carrying her forward as she lifted her spear.
Suddenly, the diameter of the beam widened, and she couldn't escape even with [Soul Flash].
She pointed the head of the spear at the energy and braced for impact.
Lilith's buddy shuddered, and her bones were immediately under the threat of breaking from the powerful attack that she was forced to endure.
The tip of her weapon dispersed the energy beam into many smaller ones that scattered around her, hitting the remaining trees in the distance.
An unbearable cold assaulted her, snd hands started freezing, a foreign influence clinging deep inside them and coating them with ice.
Her feet buried themselves in the ground, legs trembling.
Her arms were shaking so much that she felt as if they were almost coming apart.
It was clear that she wouldn't be able to resist for long.
Lilith grit her teeth, her ghostly-blue eyes reflecting the blinding light and her current predicament. Just some more...
Like a dam breaking, the beam suddenly swallowed her whole and traveled a great distance without obstruction for an instant.
It hit multiple towering trees and broke them, only stopping when it hit a last one an entire kilometer away from the pack leader.
The energy attack persisted for several seconds, then it began dimming. Finally, it stopped, making the world turn a shade darker.
From the other side, a huge block of ice was on a tree, from inside it, a faint silhouette of a spear could be seen.
Although exhausted, the alpha was somewhat visibly relieved to see that its attack had finally hit its target. The hardest battle of its life has finally ended...
Whoosh!
A figure flashed from the side of the wolf, but it was too late to react.
Lilith touched the limb of the wolf since it was unconventionally tall, but that was more than enough. She made direct contact with the inner universe of it, and it shattered in a mere instant upon facing her supreme authority over souls.
The alpha started collapsing, but Lilith's vision blurred and she was already by the side of another wolf. She simply did the same, and it died instantly from her palm.
The one beside it almost formed a thought inside its mind, but it was gone in a similar fashion.
Now, only two remained. Because they weren't under the control of the deceased leader, they immediately started fleeing because of the sudden deaths of their members.
But it was futile.
They chose opposite sides to run for, smart for a beast, but simply not enough of an action.
The one on the right was almost completely exhausted, so she chose to hunt it to make the other one think that it had a chance of escape.
She flashed, and the one on the right died.
The one on the left had covered a hundred meters in a second already, but its fate was sealed.
Unlike the other ones, she flashed behind it and grabbed its tail. The beast dragged her for a few meters, but it was stopped by her. The wolf made a scared cry in pain and terror—the first sound that any of them had made since the encounter.
She growled loudly and pushed her body with her heavenly essence to the limit, and turned around and pulled with all her might.
The beast, too exhausted to retaliate, was lifted in the air and slammed powerfully on the ground like a sack of potatoes.
It was disoriented, and before it could see the light again, a series of countless stabs was launched on its head.
Within a few moments, Lilith turned the head of the wolf into an unrecognizable fleshy mess by using her sharp nails.
She stared at her abominable painting for a few silent moments, then sighed heavily, allowing herself to be at ease and for the exhaustion to seep in.
Lilith felt extremely weak, and she stepped over the dead wolf and made her way to the alpha with unsteady, drunk-like steps.
She reached it, then grumbled under her breath in annoyance.
She stabbed through its side and reached with her arm deep inside its body, shoulder deep.
After getting herself all bloodied and annoyed, she pulled out a crystal from its inside.
The crystal was similar to that of the white eagle, although it had only two lights inside, it was with a much deeper and more powerful aura.
Without hesitation, she put it in her mouth and munched on it.
She was going to heal herself, because, after all, she had won the battle.
