Elaine had gone back to the dorm to change her clothes and to continue solving Mr Steven's punishment which was to be submitted tomorrow at his office.
"Uhhh, there's no way I'm finishing this" sh said to herself when she heard a knock on the door, already knowing who it was she asked the person to come in, but surprisingly, June wasn't alone, Gwen was also with her and they both settled themselves in the room.
"How was field work?" June asked
"Terrible" Elaine answered which made June laugh.
"I'm sure you're so greatful for the rainfall which had cut today's work short"
Honestly, Elaine didn't know if she was, as June mentioned it, her mind went back to what happened before it began raining, but weirdly, everything felt blurred, as though it was a long long memory and not something that happened few hours ago, all she could remember was her speaking with Kyle, then there was a beautiful flower, surprisingly, se couldn't remember what it looked like, or where she saw it, then it began raining.
"Why does that feel incomplete?" She asked herself in her head. It felt as though something was missing.
"What's that?" Gwen asked breaking her train of thoughts
"What?" Elaine asked
" What you were writing before we came"
"Oh that, it's j-
"Mr Steven gave it to her as a form of punishment for disturbing the class with Kyle" June answered.
"When?" Gwen asked.
"On Monday, during the morning classes before break, you weren't in class". June answered.
"Oh, Gwen said as if losing interest, let me see it".
"Um..., sure" Elaine said getting up from the bed and handing it to her who was seated on the study chair
"You haven't even gone halfway" she commented going through the printed sheets.
"I-
"When are you submitting it?" She asked cutting Elaine short.
"Friday "
"What a nice view", June suddenly said standing in front of the opened windows, stopping Gwen from what she was about to say,
"Well I don't like it very much" Elaine said as a matter of fact.
"Are u kidding, you should feel lucky to have this view"
"Why" Gwen asked
"I don't like trees"
"That's weird, there are many trees around the school" Gwen said
"No, not that I don't like trees, I don't like the Sound they produce, especially at night"
"Well I wish it was our own room that had this view, from here you can see really far, almost half of this side of the school" June commented.
"Hmm," was all Elaine said.
"Look from here, you can see a clock tower at the distant, it's really pretty" June said staring keenly.
"What clock tower?" Elaine had to ask as she she had looked through the window multiple times and had never for once seen any clock tower.
"There" June said pointing, that was when Elaine and Gwen had to walk to the window to see where she was pointing to.
"What?" Gwen asked this time.
"Look at the clock tower, just look at the distant, it's looks as if it wants to be behind the horizon"
"There's nothing there" Elaine said this time, cause all she could see were trees.
"It's really old, June said before turning to face Elaine and Gwen, noticing their expressions, she asked you guys can't see it?"
"I ca-
"Sorry, we have to leave now" Gwen cut in.
"But-
"Didn't Horace say you should meet him after sanitation" Gwen said cutting June short.
"Oh my gosh!, I almost forgot, June exclaimed, I should change my clothes" she said leaving the window and heading towards the door.
They were alread leaving, when Gwen turned back and said
"Just tick any answers, he isn't going to mark them" and she left.
"What answeres?" Elaine asked herself before it dawned on her what Gwen was talking about, it was the Math questions.
"It isn't going to be Marked?!, so I have been wasting my time" she said shaking her head as if in disbelief.
She turned her direction if sight away from the door to the window and looked out, but there was no clock tower.
"What did June actually see, a clock tower?".
She closed the windows before picking up the printed sheets Gwen had left on the table, she began ticking random answers without even reading the questions.
*******
"Do I look nice?" June asjed facing Gwen who wore a tired expression.
"You looke the same" Gwen answered rolling her eyes.
"Please, just tell me, how do I look?"
"Uhhh, fine, you look pretty "
"I know, thank you"
"Why are you making a big deal out of this?, it's just a walk and not a date".
"I know, June answered with a smile, straightening the hem of her dress"
"So why are you stressing yourself on looking nice" Gwen asked not understanding
"So that one day we would be going for more than a walk" June answered with a dreamy face and a weird smile.
"Uhhh" Gwen let out a long sigh as if giving up on her.
"Bye" June said leaving, but Gwen only answered with the lazy wave of her hand as if shooing her away.
