Chapter 19 - Thoughts & confrontations 1

That night , Elaine laid on her bed, staring at the ceiling, she just couldn't seem to get her mind off what was announced.

"He was last seen on Thursday's afternoon, she repeated, that wasn't true" she said talking to herself as she had last seen him on Thursday's night, with Allan.

She let out a long and distressed sigh as her brain worked overtime, she was really brothered about this, was it because she knows something more?.

"Maybe nothing really bad happened to him" she said convincing herself, I should speak to Allan".

Somewhere far away from the dorms, Gwen walked in the midst of the tall trees which were really dense, even the light from the moon was useless as she was one with the darkness.

Her steps were light and composed, with only the sounds of dried leaves and twigs being crushed under her feet, the quietness of the night, the light swaying of the trees, the distant hooting of owls and the chirping of crickets were a total contrast to the inferno burning within her.

She suddenly stopped in her tracks and in sequence, someone jumped down from one of the trees.

"Isn't it a little too late for a walk" a male's voice sounded from behind.

"Where's that b*stard friend if yours?" She asked turning around, but her hood obstructed the top of her face, leaving only her nose and eyes seen.

"Oh!, you mean Allan, he said as if he didn't know who she was referring to, if you want to meet him, you should come tomorrow" he said with a gentle humor unconcerned about the human volcano in front of him, that could erupt anytime.

"Dou you think I'm joking?" She asked, grabbing him from the top of his shirt and slamming his back hard on the tree, but this act only seemed to amuse him more.

"Always the same, he said smiling, he paused as if waiting for her to do something more, his silence was like gasoline fueling the fire that was already burning within her, well, I really don't know where he is" he added, when it seemed as though she was ready to bite his head off.

"Bulls**t, what do you mean you don't know where he is ?" She asked wanting him to be specific.

"I last saw him yesterday's evening, after that he just disappeared as usual" he answered as if not wanting to infuriate her further which wasn't true as he loved that side of her.

She slowly let go of his shirt which had now been crumpled under her tight grip, she gauged his expression for any foul play, but he had the same smile on his face which he always Carried which she also found annoying.

She turned back and began walking away her steps quicker and heavier than before, but Horace followed her.

"Why are you following me?" She asked not turning to look at him

"I thought we were going for a walk?" He replied smiling mischievously.

"I'm heading back to the dorm, she said Coldly, you can go back to hanging on the trees"

"it sounds weird if you put it that way"

"Isn't that how it is?"

"Maybe" he replied lazily still keeping uo with her fast pace.

They walked out of the darkness created by the trees and stepped into the open space where the moon shone brightly on the both of them, making Gwen's white hair shimmer with a silver hue, making her look out of this world.

"I'd be heading back now" Horace informed as he took in her side profile.

"I don't care" she replied.

He had turned to his back when Gwen's question made him halt, and turn to face her.

"What do you want from June?" She asked her eyes dead cold as she stared right back at him.

"I don't understand" he said smiling

"Why are you suddenly interested in her, I know you want something"

He let out a loud laugh as if she had cracked a joke, before his expression changed like the weather, gone was the smile that played on his face.

"What do I want from June, he repeated, can you give me what I want if I tell?, he asked himself, well I just think he's pretty, he said his usual charming smile finding it's way back to his face, I think she's cute too"

"It's not your first time seeing her, why is it now you notice her?!" Gwen half yelled walking closer to him.

"Suddenly being a mother hen are you?" He teased.

"Do you think everything's a joke " she asked getting angry.

" No I don't, I think you should work on that temper of yours, it isn't very ladylike, you should learn a thing or two from June "

Gwen had to clench her fists and grind her teeth against each other to prevent herself from landing a punch on his jaw.

"Do whatever you want, just don't cross the line" she said then disappeared from his sight.

"You know, there's no line I can't cross " he said to himself, still staring as if she was there.
