The walk to the chapel was awkward as June did all the talking and Elaine had chop in words to indicate she was following, Gwendolyn just walked ahead without caring about June's retailed stories.
"The architecture is wonderful" Elaine replied to something June said.
"Right?, when I first came here, I was in awe, i felt as though I was living a fantasy, I also got lost multiple times, that was how I met Gwen" June kept on rambling.
"Really?"
"Yeah, I think I walked into a restricted building and got lost, Gwen helped me find my way back, and we just became friends"
"Which building wa that?"
"I don't remember " June answered nonchalantly.
"If Gwen was already in the school with you, how did the both of you become roommates?" Elaine asked curiously
"Oh about that, Gwen's former room ma-
" Aren't you getting to comfortable with someone you just met this morning? Gwen cut her off, don't go about tailing all your life experiences to her".
"I just got a little too excited " June said smiling.
"Don't mind her" June mouthed to Elaine, which made her smile.
Soon enough, they were standing at the front of two large doors which were made with wood and colorful glasses, from outside, one could hear the soft tunes of the piano.
As they stepped in, Elaine looked around surveying the chapel as this washer first time attending church, there were six long rows of wooden benches, which were almost all filled with students, there were multiple chandeliers hanging from the ceiling giving the chapel a golden hue, it was a little dark as it was just five in the morning, at the far front was a higher platform which had the cruxifix on the wall, there were other objects around the platform which Elaine didn't know.
They quietly walked and took their seats, when Elaine eyes caught sight of someone familiar sitting behind the piano, playing graciously, it was him, the curly hair and freckle kissed face, he was just sitting there playing the piano, without the care of the world, as if it were just him and the instrument.
"How could he be here?" She asked herself, since the last time she saw him at the beach, she never saw him again despite her going there everyday, no sign of him nor the pretty black cat.
"That's Allan" June whispered leaning closee to her ear which made Elaine yelp as she wasn't expecting such.
"What?" She asked June
"Isn't he handsome?" June asked staring at him.
"Who?"
"Who else?, the one you were gawking at"
"I wasn't gawking at anyone "
"Lies, you were staring at Allan with stars in your eyes", June said dramatically.
"No, I wasn't "
"No need to be embarrassed, it's completely normal in HERBERT WILBUR, he's literally the best part of the school, he's the reason why some of us even bother attending the mass prayer " she said this time around gesturing at Gwen with her head.
"Really?, Elaine asked with wide eyes, and June nodded her head as confirmation.
"They're in the same class"
"Both of them?"
"Yes, Allan, Gwen and I"
"Ok"
"What class are you in?" June asked
"13A"
"Really!?" June half yelled as he covered her mouth with her palm.
"What?" Elaine asked concerned
"You won't believe, that's also our class "
"13A?" Elaine asked for clarity sake
"Yes".
Like Elaine, June wasn't very interested in the mass pray as they talked about other things and sometimes Elaine eyes kept involuntarily glancing at Allan behind the piano.
"You don't like the mass do you "Elaine asked June.
"No, not at all" she answered nonchalantly
"Oh"
"I just come because Gwen never misses it, and you know why, and I don't like staying alone at the dorm sometimes, especially Sunday mornings"
"I don't understand " Elaine said
" Like sometimes, especially Sunday mornings, there's this weird feeling I begin to feel"
"Like fear?" Elaine asked looking at june without missing a beat
"I don't know " june answered.
When the mass service was over, the chapel became noisy as students began leaving, while some just stayed back talking with their friends.
"Let's leave now " June said
"Sure"
"Gwen! June called out, we want to leave now"
"You go ahead,I'll come later" she said turning and Walking away.
"Do you mind if I stay at your room" June asked
"Uh.., um, sure "
"Great, June said before turning to call June again, Gwen!, I'd be at Elaine's room, June yelled loudly bringing attention to herself which includes Allan's.
