"You're saying this toxin was created from two non-toxic substances?"
After a day of studying, Anya was completely exhausted, sprawled ungracefully on the ground. Meanwhile, Lady Tsunade took out the small transparent vial they had previously acquired and began examining it.
"Yeah, I got it from Sunagakure. It's an extract from two types of flower buds. They're harmless on their own, but when combined, they become extremely toxic—and very hard to detect," Anya quickly revealed the toxin's origin.
Out of curiosity, Tsunade used her fingertip to collect a drop and swallowed it.
Seeing this, Anya exclaimed in shock: "Hey, I don't have an antidote for that."
Tsunade, unfazed, tasted it for a moment before savoring the flavor. "It really has no taste," she remarked, "though there's a lingering fragrance. This aroma must be from redbud and touch-me-not flowers [the latter being a Mimosa pudica, known for its reactive leaves]. Not bad—the toxicity is quite effective too."
Seeing Tsunade ingest a dose of toxin, not only surviving but instantly analyzing its components, Anya couldn't help giving her a thumbs-up and shamelessly showering her with praise: "No wonder you're Lady Tsunade! Truly amazing! Shows how inexperienced I am."
This kind of flattery was nothing new to Tsunade—it went in one ear and out the other. She immediately held up another vial containing red liquid and asked, "What's inside this toxin bottle then?"
Seeing this particular toxin, Anya quickly warned, "You definitely can't eat this one. It combines five deadly poisons—rattlesnake venom, scorpion toxin, carnivorous ant secretions, spider poison, and deathworm extract. It's fast-acting and lethal."
Upon hearing these powerful toxins, Tsunade's expression shifted slightly, and she wisely chose not to ingest it. Instead, she fetched several reagents for research, pouring portions of the red toxin into different test tubes. After some time, each test tube changed color—black, purple, blue, green—forming a rainbow of hues.
Based on the differing colors, Tsunade began analyzing this deadly toxin. About half an hour later, a new clear liquid formed in one test tube, signaling that once again, Tsunade had cracked another lethal red toxin.
From this point on, whether Tsunade's toxin-crafting skills were formidable remained unknown, but certainly, her antidote expertise was unmatched. Keep in mind, even Sunagakure had no cures for these two toxic concoctions.
Having neutralized both toxins, Tsunade seemed genuinely intrigued as she eagerly asked Anya, "Kid, got more toxins? Bring them all out."
"None left," Anya gave a wry smile. "I'm not actually from Sunagakure. Being an outsider already makes things tough—getting just these two vials was hard enough."
Although slightly disappointed, Tsunade understood Anya's reasoning and changed the subject. "How would you rate Sunagakure's overall toxin-making capabilities?"
Anya thought for a moment before replying, "Only average at best. Mostly made from locally available materials, they've never systematically studied or deeply researched toxin-making. Their toxins are mainly meant to complement Puppet Techniques, limiting their broader battlefield utility. Though only a few, their potency actually exceeds even that of Hanzo's legendary toxins."
"You're absolutely right," Tsunade said. "Looks like I'll need to develop specific antidotes to counter their methods." With that, Tsunade threw herself back into intense research, clearly trying to distract herself from the grief of losing her younger brother.
Anya couldn't really relate. He'd always been alone, and the only thing he could do was stay by her side silently.
After one night had passed, Tsunade was fast asleep, slumped over her desk, while Anya had already fully respawned with boundless energy.
He casually fetched a blanket to cover Tsunade and was tiptoeing toward the door when a voice cut in, "Where are you going?"
Anya's body stiffened slightly, but he put on a bright smile and said, "The sun's already up, and I'm afraid you might be hungry. I was just going to get some breakfast for us."
Hearing this, Tsunade immediately realized how hungry she actually was. Ever since learning about her brother's passing, she hadn't eaten anything. Despite her strong physique, at this moment, she couldn't help feeling weak.
Seeing her wobble slightly, Anya quickly stepped forward to support her, saying anxiously, "Look how weak you've become. Just wait here for me. Tell me what you'd like to eat."
Tsunade slapped away Anya's supporting hands, forcing herself upright as she said firmly, "I don't need help from a pipsqueak like you. Come on, let's go eat breakfast first, then continue studying today."
When they arrived at the breakfast shop, Anya enthusiastically ordered an entire table of food. The pair's table quickly became filled with various steaming hot dishes that looked extremely tempting.
Tsunade didn't hold back either and began eating heartily in a very unladylike manner. Soon enough, both were patting their full stomachs and leaning back comfortably against their chairs.
After a while, Tsunade looked strangely at Anya and asked, "Why are you still sitting here? Go pay the bill."
"Come on, I don't have any money. Didn't I lose everything to you just two days ago?" Anya lazily refused to move.
Suddenly remembering her incredible luck from the past couple of days and how much money she had indeed won from this kid, Tsunade responded unkindly, "Then why did you order so much if you have no money? Wasn't it you who said you'd treat me to breakfast?"
"Exactly. I'll treat, you pay." Seeing Tsunade preparing to hit him again, Anya quickly added, "I'll consider this meal owed to you. As soon as I have money, I'll pay you back immediately."
"Whatever." Tsunade decided not to argue further and paid the bill herself.
Grinning ear to ear, Anya trotted right behind her on their way back to the hospital.
After another busy day, Anya once again sprawled lazily across a chair, instinctively exclaiming, "Tsunade-sama, I think you're absolutely right—without a proper medical system, relying solely on the current hospital ninjas won't be enough; they'll burn out before they can handle it."
Anya's words stirred a deep sorrow in Tsunade's heart. If there had been even one Medical Ninja within her younger brother's squad who could have provided emergency treatment and kept him alive until she could arrive, perhaps he wouldn't have passed away.
Seeing Tsunade fall silent, Anya continued analyzing, "Actually, the Third Hokage clearly understood your point all along, but as he mentioned himself, he simply cannot spare any ninja to train in Medical Ninjutsu. And after organizing all the four-man squads, squads containing a Medical Ninja inevitably face combat disadvantages compared to other squads. Tsunade hadn't expected this young fellow to consider the issue so thoroughly. She couldn't help but ask, "Then what do you think is the solution to this problem?"
Anya already had an idea when Tsunade asked, and immediately replied, "Develop a unique combat system specifically for Medical Ninja. Actually, this Scalpel can be used not only to save lives but also to kill."
Anya lightly sliced her left arm with the Scalpel. The entire arm hung limply, as if it had lost support, clearly having its meridians severed by the Scalpel.
Wincing, Anya activated her Chakra to heal, speaking through the pain, "Hiss... Damn sharp edge."
"Hahaha..." Tsunade couldn't help laughing out loud, the gloom finally easing from her face.
