After laughing cruelly, Tsunade said, "Don't tell anyone I taught you this. I've never seen someone so stupid that they actually ruined their own arms using Medical Ninjutsu."
While treating his wounds, Anya replied, "Wasn't this to show you a possibility for the future of Medical Ninjas?"
Tsunade couldn't help but nod in agreement. "Indeed, it's a direction, but it'll need long-term experiments to verify its feasibility before promotion."
Anya volunteered, "Then use me as the test subject."
"Use *you*?" Tsunade said somewhat disdainfully. "With those skinny arms and legs? You're not valuable enough for experimentation."
Well, who'd dare claim to have thick legs in front of you? Naturally, Anya didn't dare argue back and quickly finished healing his own arm.
After thinking for a moment, Tsunade said, "Try it on me then."
"You're serious?"
Tsunade urged, "Come on."
"All right."
Without declining, Anya used the Scalpel to make a cut on Tsunade's arm artery.
Tsunade tried lifting her arm, only to find she couldn't exert any strength at all—moving her arm was difficult too. It seemed that the injury Anya had inflicted upon himself earlier wasn't light at all.
Using her other hand, Tsunade began treating the wound on her arm. Soon, the severed artery was repaired, and her arm returned to normal. It was only because she herself was also a Medical Ninja who knew how to treat such injuries—if it were an ordinary ninja, that single strike would've been enough to cost him his ability to perform Hand Seals.
It really works, Tsunade felt delighted inwardly. She'd never thought Medical Ninjutsu could be applied in combat too, and with surprisingly good results.
Tsunade was just starting to feel happy when Anya suddenly looked serious, lost in thought. The Scalpel indeed worked well in close combat, but required certain proficiency in Taijutsu. Most crucially, it demanded physical engagement. Once encountering enemy ninjas on the battlefield, they'd bombard you with long-range jutsu from hundreds of meters away before you could ever get close.
Seeing Anya's expression turn grave, Tsunade asked, "What's wrong? Do you feel something's off?"
"It still lacks practicality a bit," Anya thought for a while, suddenly having an idea. "But there isn't no way to solve this either."
"Oh? Really? Tell me about it." Having experienced war, Tsunade had already considered this limitation of being effective only in close combat. Now hearing that Anya had a solution surprised her greatly.
"Think about Hanzo," Anya gave Hanzo as a hint.
Instantly understanding, Tsunade said, "You mean… using poison?"
[Precisely], Anya confirmed with a nod. "Medical Ninjas naturally have an advantage in applying poison. If we can turn the poison into gas form, it could be launched from afar while consuming very little chakra (the life energy unique to ninja). The only weakness is it's ineffective against ninjas skilled in Wind Release techniques."
"That's already quite good. Wind Release specialists are extremely rare," Tsunade agreed. "Your logic makes sense. But we need to consider which kind of poison is stable enough to be produced massively as gas, plus think about storage methods."
Stretching lazily, Anya said, "That's your problem to figure out. I've already thought as much as I could."
Tsunade said irritably, "Don't even think about slacking off. Since you studied poison usage in Sunagakure Village, you should help with the research too."
Anya got dragged into this unwillingly. The entire room's test tubes were filled with all sorts of colorful poisons.
As Tsunade continued her research, poisonous gases occasionally wafted out from the test tubes. Anya accidentally inhaled some strange toxin and immediately turned pale, experiencing difficulty breathing, dizziness, and drowsiness.
Seeing Tsunade completely absorbed in her poison research and ignoring him entirely, Anya nearly cried as he pleaded desperately, "[*Help!*]"
After noticing what happened, Tsunade smirked slightly, "It's just some poison gas. You won't die from it. Figure it out yourself."
What? Anya felt half his heart sink. Secretly cursing Tsunade thoroughly in his mind, he realized continuing like this wouldn't work—he might actually get killed by her someday. His mind raced rapidly until finally, he came up with a last-resort solution.
Carefully approaching, Anya sweetened his face and said, "Tsunade-sama, I heard your [summoning jutsu] can heal people."
"Yeah, so what?" Tsunade looked at Anya with disdain.
"Well," Anya said with apparent embarrassment, "I don't have my own summoned creature yet."
When Tsunade heard this, her eyes widened in shock as she laughed angrily, "You want to take my summoned creature? You've got guts!"
Anya argued reasonably, "Toxin research doesn't get solved overnight, you know. I want to contribute, but constantly having you rescue me would affect progress too much, right?"
That did sound somewhat reasonable. Tsunade gave a warning, "Are you sure about choosing my summoned creature? Its attacking power is pretty ordinary."
"It doesn't need any special attacking power. Being able to save lives is already more than enough. When facing enemies, I'll cut them down in one go with [Single Blade Strike]." As Tsunade was starting to give in, Anya earnestly guaranteed his commitment.
For someone from the Uchiha Clan, choosing Katsuyu as a summoned creature just feels…off. Tsunade asked uncertainly again, "You're still young now. Once you choose a summoned creature, you cannot change it, especially since mine is rather special. Are you really sure?"
Anya nodded vigorously with firm determination, "I'm absolutely certain. No changes whatsoever."
Though young, if he didn't choose Katsuyu, he might not even have a future at all.
"Fine then," Tsunade reluctantly agreed and fetched an enormous summoning scroll from the cabinet. After unfolding it, she explained, "Just write your name using your blood."
Anya quickly bit his finger. The moment Tsunade finished speaking, the name had already been written—it was so fast it looked like a blur.
"Done?"
Tsunade couldn't help but feel speechless, "Next, I'll teach you the [summoning jutsu]."
"I've got this. I'll do it myself," Anya said. He felt dizzy badly—probably the poison had already permeated his vital organs. If he let Tsunade teach him slowly, he might die before she finished.
He'd already run through the hand seals for the [summoning jutsu] in his head. Impatiently completing the sequence, he slammed his palm down hard. A white puff of smoke appeared, revealing a slug the size of a frog before Anya.
As soon as Katsuyu appeared, Anya hurriedly spoke up, "Sorry to bother you—"
Before she could finish speaking, darkness swept over her eyes. She slumped forward, unconscious.
Just as Anya fell, Tsunade seemed prepared. She reached out and caught him, then mused silently, "About five minutes... It seems this poison's effect still needs improvement—it still takes too long. Can't achieve an instant knockout."
"Tsunade-sama," Katsuyu clearly sensed this time was different—"this is a completely new chakra summoning me."
As she treated Anya with Medical Ninjutsu, Tsunade explained, "Today I took on a new student. From now on, my new student will also be able to summon you."
"Oh really?" Curious, Katsuyu crawled onto Anya's body, carefully examining this new [summoner].
