Lara froze at the sight of the shadowy figure by her window. Goosebumps prickled her skin, and a cold shiver ran down her spine.
She knew at once this person wasn't just anyone, she could feel the weight of his presence. Her heart began to race.
Fear clawed at her chest, but she forced her legs to move, slipping out of bed with a quiet defiance.
Even though it was night, she reminded herself that two guards were always posted at her door. If she made a sound, any sound, help would come.
"Who are you?" she whispered.
"Don't be afraid," the stranger said. His voice was surprisingly calm for someone with such a powerful aura. "If I had wanted to harm you, I would have done so while you slept."
Her throat tightened, but she kept her voice steady. "Alright then. Since you claim to be friendly, tell me who you are and what you are doing in my room."
He tilted his head, studying her. His face remained hidden in the dark, until his eyes began to glow red.
