Generally speaking, people who have power are often mentally weak.
People who have intelligence are usually not proficient in strength.
Those who possess both are the rare monsters of the world.
Sōsuke Aizen was one of them.
Moreover, Aizen was not lacking in initiative-he had both the wit and the will to reshape the world. That made him extraordinarily dangerous, and Urahara Kisuke could afford no carelessness.
What Kisuke didn't expect was Yoruichi Shihōin's next words.
"Yuta didn't take me into Central 46, so I don't know exactly what happened. The only thing I know is that Sōsuke Aizen doesn't seem to have made any major moves..."
Kisuke began to speculate.
It was unexpected-Sōsuke Aizen had remained passive.
There were several possible reasons.
One: the Hōgyoku fragment he created was likely now in Yuta's hands.
In that case, it would be favorable. A figure like Yuta, whose strength was immeasurable even by specialized sensing techniques, might not defeat Aizen outright, but he could certainly weaken him.
Two: Aizen had already secured the completed Hōgyoku, but for some reason had reached some form of understanding with Yuta-making him delay his usual plans.
Kisuke narrowed his eyes.
"If it's only Sōsuke Aizen, we might be able to stop him. If it's Aizen and Yuta together... those two alone could alter the course of history."
"Yuta's power is already immense. Aizen's is unparalleled as well."
"If they remain separate opponents, there's hope. We might be able to deal with them one by one."
"If they ally... then our chances of victory are almost nonexistent."
"No one stops the flow of history."
"Perhaps our only option at that point would be to join them."
"But that must be the last resort. If it's avoidable, we cannot allow the Soul King to be killed."
"No one knows whether the collapse of the Three Realms could be reversed afterward. This isn't the sort of gamble we should take lightly. It's not trial-and-error-it's termination."
Yoruichi looked startled. "How dangerous is Yuta? He and Aizen are just two individuals-how could they affect the entire history of the world?"
Kisuke nodded. "You don't understand because you haven't seen what Yuta is truly capable of."
"That person-and those two blades-cannot be evaluated with common logic."
Yoruichi quickly corrected him. "Wait-after Yuta came out of Central 46, he had what looked like a third Zanpakutō... and he used multiple different Shikai in succession."
"What?" Kisuke froze.
"He has... a third blade?"
"And he wields multiple Shikai?"
"Together with... Central 46..."
His thoughts raced.
An idea-one he hoped was wrong-surfaced.
What if Yuta and Aizen had entered the Great Spirit Book Corridor?
What if Yuta's Zanpakutō wasn't just his-but held the abilities found within the entire archive?
Kisuke drew in a long breath.
"If that's true... if Yuta's sword is imitating or granting access to the abilities recorded in the Great Spirit Book Corridor…"
"His strength isn't just dangerous... it's overwhelming."
"But for now, that's just speculation. We don't truly know what his Zanpakutō is capable of."
Kisuke exhaled slowly, lowering his head slightly as he continued.
"There's also another possibility. Originally, Aizen's plan was to rebel after obtaining the Hōgyoku."
"But-due to Yuta's presence-or perhaps because of him-Sōsuke Aizen changed his mind... adjusted his plan."
"If that's the case, then Yuta is someone even Aizen must account for."
Yoruichi had accepted that Yuta was powerful-but Kisuke's assessment exceeded even her expectations.
Before she could respond, she felt the disturbance-spiritual pressure surged from the distance, so intense it passed even through barriers.
"What is that?"
In the far distance, what looked like a pitch-black sphere began to rise. Although the distance was considerable, the sheer gravitational pull began to draw in huge volumes of air. The distortion it caused tore even the communication screen into fragments.
Yoruichi's face tightened with confusion. Kisuke, seeing the same through his device, removed his hat. The black circles in his eyes were stark now-not with fatigue or weariness, but with alert focus.
He watched carefully, attempting to perceive what was happening in Soul Society.
In the very next second, the communication screen shattered entirely from the pressure.
…
Back in the present world-
Urahara Kisuke stood frozen in place, deeply shaken by what he had just seen.
What kind of force could erase visual transmission entirely?
Some form of dark energy-but he couldn't determine the spiritual pressure through the screen. There was far too little information for proper assessment.
Regardless-Yuta's appearance had derailed every prediction Kisuke made.
…
Shinō Academy.
Behind Kenpachi Zaraki stood Yachiru-small, bright-eyed, and smiling as always.
Students nearby instinctively stepped away-even if they didn't recognize the face, the spiritual pressure was undeniable. Their instincts screamed danger.
Even after he left, several students noticed they were drenched with sweat.
"Who was that?"
"His pressure felt like... blades ready to kill us if we moved."
"You haven't seen him before? That's the Eleventh Division Captain-Kenpachi Zaraki."
"What?! That madman from the combat division? Why would he be here?"
"Didn't two captains show up before looking for someone named Yuta? Is he doing that too?"
"You think Yuta did that much to call out three captains...?"
…
Kenpachi approached Kiyota Kuranosuke directly.
"You had a transfer student, right? Where is he now?"
He'd already torn through Rukongai's 80th district and found nothing. Word eventually led him here-to the academy that had recently accepted transfer students.
Who else could they be talking about except someone who had bypassed spiritual pressure testing entirely?
Seeing Kenpachi's scarred face and intense presence, Kuranosuke was briefly stunned.
"What do you want with Yuta?"
As much as he was afraid, Kuranosuke felt the responsibility of guarding his students. Someone like Yuta-who held so much potential-shouldn't be thrown to the wolves.
Kenpachi sneered. "Since you won't say-how about we fight instead? I'll test how long you last."
Kuranosuke resisted flinching. Kenpachi was terrifying-a killer born of battle-but he held his ground. "I won't tell you. Even if you put your blade to my throat, I won't change my answer."
Kenpachi raised his chipped sword and placed it flat on Kuranosuke's neck. A grin with rows of terrifying teeth spread across his face.
"Want to die? I don't mind."
Before anything else could happen, Yachiru leaned forward on Kenpachi's shoulder, her tone cheerful:
"Hi there. I'm Yachiru, Eleventh Division Vice-Captain."
"Kenpachi's here to find Yuta-the transfer student."
"You might not know him personally, but you should know he didn't pass any spiritual pressure test to enter the Academy. Wonder why?"
Kuranosuke shook his head slowly, hesitant.
Yachiru's tone softened. "I shouldn't be telling you this-but I will."
"Yuta already had captain-class spiritual pressure when he arrived. He's from Rukongai's 80th district-just like Kenpachi. So don't worry-Kenpachi only wants to fight him."
Kuranosuke froze after hearing that.
Captain-level pressure-from the beginning?
He had assumed Yuta was only deputy-captain level-per the letter from Yamamoto. Captain-level pressure was incredibly rare. He hadn't imagined that Yuta had carried that from the start.
Quietly, glancing at the blade near his throat, he said-
"But... I really don't know where Yuta went. He just graduated, took his supplies, and left."
"Also... doesn't your division have that swordsmanship competition coming up?"
"I have a feeling he might show up there to watch."
Kuranosuke doubted it-Yuta's classmates had their own exams coming up-but it was the best he could offer to mislead Kenpachi without endangering the boy directly.
Even with captain-level power, hardly anyone could match someone like Zaraki-a man who lived solely for battle.
Kenpachi said nothing further. After hearing the information, he lowered his weapon and turned away-departing without another word.
Only after Kenpachi vanished did Kuranosuke exhale sharply. Sweat clung to his back. He hadn't realized how close he'd been to dying.
Kenpachi Zaraki-
There was no one else quite like him.
…
When Limitless exploded into motion-
Yamamoto Genryūsai's expression darkened immediately.
He had asked for Kidō-not the destruction of Rukongai itself.
In the next instant, Yuta generated a sphere of tightly packed gravel-nearly six meters wide-and launched it toward Yamamoto without hesitation.
"Everything to ashes-Ryūjin Jakka."
An ocean of flames erupted in answer. The heat seared everything nearby, fire melting stone into glowing magma.
Even after the rubble dissipated-
There was only silence.
Wind passed through the area in harsh gusts-the fire crackled and the ground smoked.
Though the wooden practice sword remained in place-
Yamamoto knew Yuta could have cut it apart the moment he struck.
Yuta spoke clearly. "Captain Yamamoto-as one Kidō practitioner to another, I would say I qualify as master-level now, wouldn't you?"
Yamamoto had not expected this display of strength from Yuta.
"What was the name of that technique?"
"Limitless," Yuta replied evenly.
Yamamoto nodded once. It was clearly Yuta's creation.
Beyond him-the next generation was rising quickly.
"With someone like you maintaining the spirit of the Gotei... the Soul Society may remain stable for the next thousand years."
Even Chōjirō was surprised by the evaluation.
Genryūsai had rarely given praise-and almost none of it so grand.
Could this boy truly stabilize Soul Society for millennia to come?
Chōjirō reflected on Limitless-such force from ordinary gravel. What had Yamamoto seen that they had not?
There was clearly far greater depth behind Yuta's strength than appearances suggested...
