Sōsuke Aizen believed he had already seen through Yuta Hideki, but he hadn't expected Yuta's Hakuda skills to reach a level where he could create his own techniques. Each time Aizen thought he had grasped the extent of Yuta's power, Yuta demonstrated new abilities that made him reconsider. Yuta's form and fighting style were hidden beneath layers of mystery-perhaps even the Great Spirit Library Hall wouldn't have recorded them fully.
Creating original Hakuda techniques was no small feat. While hand-to-hand combat appeared straightforward to learn, achieving true mastery or developing entirely new forms required rigorous and repeated practice over long periods. Most people would spend their entire lives without ever creating one technique from scratch. In contrast, fields like kenjutsu seemed flashier and easier to innovate upon-but whether those new sword styles were actually effective was another matter entirely.
Chōjirō Sasakibe was even further astonished. Having served under Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto for centuries, he knew just how vast the gap was between Yamamoto and any other warrior. Though he hadn't inherited much from Yamamoto directly, that alone made the disparity even clearer to him. No matter how hard he trained, Yamamoto remained unwavering and unreachable-like the summit of a mountain he could not climb. Yet now, Yuta Hideki-who had only practiced for days-was performing techniques powerful enough to shock Yamamoto himself.
Was it possible for someone to accomplish that with so little time?
After their brief exchange, Yuta had struck Yamamoto several times in the abdomen. The blows tore apart the fabric of his uniform and revealed his hardened body, forged through centuries of combat and spiritual discipline. Yet there was no serious damage-though Yuta hadn't struck with full force.
Yamamoto spoke in response, with unhidden surprise, "Yuta's understanding is exceptional... but does this meaningless barrage not stray from the purpose of the kido test?"
He hadn't expected the trial to become so aimless, its original intent seemingly lost.
"If Old Man Yama wants to see Kidō... that's fine," Yuta responded evenly.
Now the question was which Kidō to demonstrate. The ones ranked 90 and above were too destructive-if he miscalculated even slightly, he might break Yamamoto's bones. That was not his goal, and he didn't intend for others to mistake his intentions as disrespect toward someone so senior.
Those ranked in the 80s lacked the power or uniqueness required to leave any impression, so Yuta turned instead to the "Swallowing Heaven and Devouring Earth" spiritual pressure cultivation method he had experimented with earlier.
It was technically formulated for spiritual pressure development-but it could integrate with Kidō as well.
[You attempt to create your own Kidō and succeed in realizing the "Limitless" technique.]
[You have successfully comprehended the Limitless technique.]
Limitless was built around the concept of attraction and space manipulation. At its core, it interfered with matter at both the physical and spiritual particle level, allowing the user to control space itself with immense precision-even down to individual spirit particles. The technique's foundation relied on applying the theory behind Zeno's paradox: that distance could be infinitely divided but not entirely closed. In practice, it created space-time compression that manifested in reality.
Its reverse function became "absolute attraction," generating powerful suction centered on the casting point-the result could approach negative infinity in magnitude, comparable to the pull of a small black hole.
Yuta raised his hand and gently rubbed the space between two spiritual pressures on the ground. Instantly, that space collapsed inward-its distance reaching below zero in the metaphysical sense.
In the next breath, massive suction erupted around the two Reiatsu points, drawing material toward them violently.
Crack. Crack. Crack-
Ground fissured open under the strain of the unseen gravitational pull.
Chōjirō flinched, unnerved even in his veteran experience. "What's happening…? The ground is shaking?"
His gaze fell upon the space in front of Yuta-a black dot forming in mid-air. Though minuscule in form, it radiated terrifying force. Light around it distorted and bent toward the center, devoured as if caught inside its inescapable grasp. Even the spiritual light itself failed to escape, casting the area into unexpected darkness in the middle of day.
"What kind of Kidō is this…?" he asked, his tone edged with disbelief and fear.
Shigekuni Yamamoto's own thoughts mirrored that fear, though unspoken: the destructive potential of this Kidō was overwhelming. He watched the earth itself fragment and converge toward that singularity-like point.
Even Aizen Sōsuke stepped backward involuntarily-for the first time in his battles, he had physically retreated from just observing the effect of someone else's power. When Yamamoto wielded his flames, Aizen hadn't moved. Yet the energy radiating from this single dark point forced even him to reconsider the situation with new caution.
It was clear to Aizen that the technique Yuta demonstrated was not even fully unleashed-he sensed that there was far greater potential untapped. If Yuta were to bring the Limitless technique to its maximum application, perhaps even the entirety of Soul Society could be compromised under its force.
What kind of being was Yuta Hideki?
…
Meanwhile, in Western Rukongai-
In her black cat form, Shihoin Yoruichi was speaking with Urahara Kisuke through the projection of spiritual energy between them. The image that appeared showed Kisuke dressed in his usual attire: wooden sandals, striped hat tilted over his eyes, cane resting lightly in his grip. Though eccentric in appearance, Kisuke had once served as the captain of Squad Twelve and was known not for his gadgets, but for his deep understanding of the fundamental laws that governed both spirit and physical worlds.
Unlike Kurotsuchi Mayuri, who thrived on invention and experimentation, Urahara's strength lay in theoretical comprehension and manipulation of universal principles. He wasn't the man with the most toys-but likely the one with the most contingencies and insight.
"…How's the situation in Soul Society?" Kisuke asked gravely. "I assume Aizen Sōsuke has already acquired the complete Hōgyoku. According to the expected trajectory, he should no longer be hiding. He should have cast off his false identity by now and acted openly against Soul Society. Do we know where he is?"
There was little humor in his tone. Even after being betrayed by Aizen over a century ago, Kisuke hadn't forgotten the threat he posed-nor the arrogance hidden behind his calm demeanor. Opponents with strength were dangerous-but those who combined strength and intellect could turn into catastrophes.
