A knock on the door pulled me from my thoughts, and Kyle stepped inside again. He hesitated, clearly unsure if it was the right time to speak.
"What is it now?" I asked, my patience wearing thin.
"Alpha... should we speak to Frank?" he asked cautiously, referring to the elder who had opposed my decisions earlier. "Perhaps... an apology might smooth things over?"
I scoffed. "Frank will get over it," I replied dismissively. "I don't need to apologize to anyone."
Kyle nodded, though I could tell he was still wary. But I didn't care. I had more important things to think about. Like Zara, lying in the infirmary, recovering, but still plotting her next escape.
As I stared out the window again, I knew one thing for certain. Zara wasn't leaving. Not until I had her completely under my control. And no matter how much she fought, I would win in the end.
