Chapter 37 - The Heatwave and the Sweet Mess

It started with a subtle shift in Kin's body.

His heat cycle—a phase he had long dreaded—had begun once again. The air around him grew thick, and the uncomfortable warmth spread through his core, leaving him dazed, aching, and desperately needy.

But this time… Vixen wasn't home.

The Alpha was away on duty at the military camp, tangled in important operations. At home, Kin had only one person by his side—his best friend, Shen Seizan.

---

Kin writhed on the bed, clutching the sheets, his breath ragged. He tried to fight it… but the tremors wouldn't stop. His body was calling out—no, begging—for relief.

> "Shen… Shen, please…"

The soft whimpers from the other room alarmed Shen.

Rushing to Kin's side, he saw his friend drenched in sweat, skin flushed, lips trembling. His eyes were cloudy, his scent was… intense. Alarmingly intense.

"Kin?! What's going on—"

And then it hit him.

> "Oh no. His heat cycle. It's started."

Panic rising, Shen reached for the emergency suppressant meds, but Kin, in his delirious state, grabbed Shen's arm.

> "Banja… please… I need you…"

Shen froze.

Banja?! That name again.

He had heard it before… the name Kin kept whispering in his sleep during tough nights. Shen's eyes widened.

> "Wait a second—Banja is... Vixen?!"

Shen didn't wait another moment. He immediately pulled out his phone and called Vixen.

> "Vixen! It's urgent—come home right now! Kin's heat has started. He's not okay!"

On the other end, Vixen's voice turned serious in an instant.

> "I'm on my way."

---

Minutes later, the front door flew open, and Vixen rushed inside, scenting the charged air of Kin's pheromones.

Kin was still whispering, lost in a fevered haze.

> "Banja… help me… please…"

His eyes finally locked onto Vixen's—glassy, vulnerable, aching. And the moment he recognized his Alpha…

He reached out.

Vixen was by his side in a heartbeat. His own alpha instincts were spiraling—the intoxicating pull of Kin's scent wrapping around him like wildfire.

He turned to Shen. "Brother, I got this. Please step outside."

Shen nodded and left in a rush, shutting the door behind him.

---

Inside the room… the air changed.

Vixen released his magical alpha pheromones, enveloping Kin in a warm, calming aura—but Kin's body craved more than comfort.

They fell into each other—hungry kisses, clothes falling in trails to the floor. The room grew hazy with passion as Kin wrapped around Vixen like he belonged there—because he did.

They made love again and again, their connection deeper each time.

It wasn't just lust.

It was longing.

Relief.

Reunion.

Hours later, the storm inside Kin settled. The two lay tangled, breathless but satisfied.

---

Later that evening, they took a shower together—playful, teasing, full of giggles and lingering touches. And like always, intimacy found them even under the stream of water.

---

Meanwhile, poor Shen was outside, anxiously pacing the living room.

> "I hope Kin's okay…"

Just then, the bedroom door creaked open, and Kin stepped out—refreshed, glowing, with a sleepy smile on his face and a slight wobble in his step.

Shen rushed over, worry written all over his face.

> "Are you okay now?! How's your body—"

But before he could finish, he spotted it—a very prominent love bite on Kin's neck.

> "Ah… I see," Shen said, raising an eyebrow. "You're doing just fine, huh?"

Kin blushed furiously and looked away.

A moment later, Vixen strolled out—shirtless, towel in hand, looking very, very pleased with himself.

He spotted Shen and grinned. "Brother," he said cheekily, "Looks like it's time we find you a life partner too."

Shen didn't miss a beat.

He threw on a confident smirk and crossed his arms. "I'm a tough guy. I don't get trapped in all this lovey-dovey romance."

Vixen raised an eyebrow. "We'll see about that."

---

The night ended with laughter, light teasing, and an unmistakable warmth in the air.

But neither Shen nor Vixen knew…

Something darker still lurked just outside the walls of their laughter.

But for now—they were together. And that was enough.
