Chapter 23 - A Place to Call Ours

Vixen Sature gently sat beside Kin Ouren, his tone soft but firm as he spoke.

"You should stay with me, Kin. I truly believe you'll be safer that way. I can't bear the thought of you being alone anymore... especially in a place like this."

Kin looked down, heart pounding quietly.

Vixen reached out, brushing his fingers through Kin's hair as he whispered, "For years, I've lived away from you… watching you from afar, holding back. But now that you're finally by my side, I don't want us to be apart anymore. Let's live together, Kin. Just the two of us."

Kin's chest swelled with a warm ache. He looked into Vixen's eyes, voice trembling with emotion.

"I've missed you too, my dear husband. More than you'll ever know."

After that, the decision was made.

The two began packing Kin's belongings, laughing softly, stealing small glances, hearts quietly rejoicing in each other's presence.

That afternoon, Kin bid farewell to Kenny and her family. They hugged, exchanged promises to meet again, and Kin left with Vixen, holding tightly to his hand.

At first, they arrived at the military camp where Vixen asked Kin to wait a little. He needed to find a suitable place nearby for them to live—somewhere safe, quiet, and just theirs.

By sheer luck—or fate—Vixen found a small but cozy rented house not too far from the base.

By the time they moved in, it was already night.

A chilling wind whispered across the hills, and the eerie silence of ZEMURA returned to wrap the village in its cold grasp. But inside that house, everything was different. The warmth between them softened the darkness.

After a simple dinner, Kin and Vixen lay down together, arms wrapped around each other, hearts finally at peace.

They fell asleep like that—close, protected, and loved.

The next morning, Kin awoke to find the house already transformed.

Vixen had arranged everything—furniture placed neatly, curtains drawn to let the light in, even fresh tea brewing.

Kin looked around in amazement.

"This feels like home," he murmured.

And in that quiet moment, he glanced at Vixen—standing by the window, light pouring over his figure—and felt his heart flutter.

He truly was falling in love again.
