Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Demon race Persuit

Frieren in the elden ring by Fat Orange Meow

Hundreds of years before the Shinshi Era.

Frieren unexpectedly acquired the "Full Immersion Gaming Magic" and visited different Soulslike worlds.

While researching magic, she discovered that some special abilities could be brought into reality, thus beginning her journey of full collection, until one day a brand new game appeared, set in The Lands Between illuminated by the Golden Tree.

"Even if the guidance is shattered, please become the Elden Lord."

All the past accumulations bloomed here, and the destinies of two worlds would be rewritten separately, walking different paths.

Radically modified Flower Field Magic: Sea of Scarlet Aeonia Flower.

Radically modified attack magic: Mobile Comet Azur.

Radically modified Magic Annihilation Ray magic: Complete Placidusax's Ruin.

And Mimic Tear combined with Water Mirror Demon, Spell Reversal Magic combined with Hard Dewdrop Rebound…

Years later, at the Demon Lord's gate, Frieren, widely recognized as the strongest mage in the world, spent five minutes performing monkey tricks before entering the final battleground.

"Great, Carian."

The Elf Village, filled with birdsong and fragrant flowers, basked in the bright spring light.

Frieren leaned against a tree, enjoying the shade, with only a sparse few of her kin around, some even having been sound asleep in hammocks for days.

It was said that this leisure was thanks to a "magic that reduces consumption by sleeping."

A sense of relaxation.

This was the greatest characteristic of the Elf Village; day after day, year after year of boring life, everyone had long forgotten time in the erosion of years, having given up on keeping track of years long ago.

Their usual entertainment was at most playing with magic, which she happened to be quite good at.

And it was a secret, something different from all known magic, which Frieren named — Game Magic.

About a few decades ago, a strange page appeared in her mind:

The background was pitch black, with words like "Start New Game," "Load Game," "Load MOD," and so on, which she didn't understand at all.

After research, the essence was revealed: it literally allowed the user to immerse themselves in a game world and experience different identities, such as a Hunter or an Undead, going through different stories.

They all had one thing in common: decay.

Most belonged to worlds on the brink of apocalypse, vastly different from Frieren's beautiful world in reality, with only death, decay, and mutation.

Fortunately, she occasionally met some online teammates and could even communicate.

Although her teammates liked to say strange things like "My elden ring will never lose" or "Miyazaki's storytelling," even she was unconsciously influenced, but it ultimately became a touch of warmth in the apocalypse.

Those worlds were too real, and death was perfectly reproduced, leading to side effects from playing too much.

I'm starting to lose track of what's game and what's reality.

Getting back to the point, at first Frieren entered games randomly and irregularly, but later, through research, she discovered she could use saves and multiple playthroughs, becoming increasingly proficient.

Over the years, she had successively completed full collections and cleared various endings, which, by the standards of "gaming magic," could be considered complete.

It was truly exhilarating.

Apocalypse aside, that unparalleled sense of immersion allowed her to experience rich adventures different from those in the Elf Village; otherwise, she would probably be as emotionally detached and perpetually listless as her ordinary kin.

It was strange, but it was the Game Magic that truly gave Frieren a colorful legend.

Of course, she hoped the epic adventures would remain in the game; if something big happened in reality, it would be troublesome.

It was already changing, though. For some reason, the magic she experienced in the game could also be used here, and the accumulated stats also changed her physical qualities…

Could it be that the Game Magic I comprehended is actually a form of cultivation? That would indeed be rare.

"Have you heard? The Demon Race has been rampaging lately."

"Whatever, it happens every year, nothing new."

"No, they're searching for elves everywhere."

The conversation among a few of her kin caught Frieren's attention, bringing an unbidden sense of crisis that made her restless.

As everyone was talking, three or two stretchers were carried into the village entrance, bearing dead and critically wounded individuals.

The residual magical energy on their wounds clearly belonged to the Demon Race, further confirming the alarming rumor: were they targeting elves?

"There are casualties!"

"I told you not to wander out casually! Can't you just stay in the village?"

"Stop arguing, the priority is to save them—"

Amidst the clamor of arguments, the Silver-haired girl with long silver hair and green eyes stood up.

Everyone fell silent, watching her silently walk to the wounded and cast healing magic, their wounds regenerating at a visible rate.

The wounded, who had been barely breathing moments ago, gradually stabilized their breathing, while the light in Frieren's hand grew increasingly brilliant, giving off a dazzling radiance even in broad daylight.

Miracle: Sunlight Healing.

In the world called "Dark Souls 3," it was the healing ability with the highest healing output, slow but consumed a lot of stamina, making it very suitable for the current situation.

After a burst of illuminating light, the wounded were out of danger and in perfect condition, healthier than ever.

The villagers who witnessed this were not surprised; they had forgotten when Frieren began to display magical prowess far beyond her age.

Though only a few hundred years old, she was far ahead in magic manipulation and output, always training herself. What are you rushing for?

Even more impressive were her endless new spells, such as the healing ability she just demonstrated, which was nothing short of a miracle.

The greatest characteristic of the Elf Village is its sense of relaxation, so how did you become such a workaholic?

It's fine.

Thanks to Frieren, they had repelled several monster attacks and even killed a demon before.

Besides combat, she was also skilled in healing, just as she was now.

After a long sigh, she patted the dust off her clothes.

Her magic power had already recovered.

Neither the game world nor reality could achieve such efficient mana regeneration, but what if they each belonged to independent multipliers? Stacked together, the effect was remarkable; this level of consumption was nothing.

As an Ashen One at max level 802, combined with the power of a powerful elf, using Sunlight Healing once was not difficult.

One of the wounded murmured, "Azart, a general under the Demon Lord, is slaughtering elves.

This place is not safe to stay; we must leave."

"The wounded are fine; as for the dead, let's bury them properly.

Everyone, be on guard; this area should not be peaceful."

Hearing this, the villagers began to act.

Even though Frieren was not the village chief, her prestige was enough to command people, and with previous incidents as a lesson, everyone understood they should strengthen their defenses, with some even discussing evacuation plans…

Unfortunately, the vast majority were more laid-back, completely unconcerned even if the sky fell.

They had given up.

Frieren did not urge them; this was one of the prices of being a long-lived species.

Few, like her, had the conditions to play games and maintain enthusiasm; she could not force others.

She gazed at the village entrance, slightly lost in thought.

"Even if elves are unwilling to travel far, the era is changing drastically, and eventually, they will face the rush of the tide."

Her experiences in numerous decaying worlds made Frieren understand that history would change regardless; many were unwilling to change, but did it matter?

It couldn't be stopped, just as kindling the flame when the world-sustaining fire was about to extinguish was essentially futile, unable to escape disaster.

As an elf, she was actually quite open-minded; reality had also experienced eras of gods and continuous wars, and strong individuals still survived, such as the legendary Serie.

The Demon Race was about to launch a large-scale massacre, so she needed to become stronger.

With this thought, Frieren returned to her room and lay on the bed.

To greet cultivation in the best state was to learn the knowledge from the game to the greatest extent, and she would also have more means to protect herself and her kin.

Activating the Game Magic, this time the opening page seemed to have changed, becoming several golden rings, something she had never seen before.

Whoosh!

Before she could observe the scene carefully, it rapidly changed, followed by a solemn, ancient voice:

"The fallen leaves bring tidings…"

That's not right, is it? Is this still Firelink Shrine? Where did it take me?

Chapter 2 Even if the Guidance is Shattered

Frieren watched as the screen cut through several extraordinary individuals, the narration in her ears continuing:

"That lost grace, once again returns to the humble Tarnished.

Advance beyond the mist, reach The Lands Between, and stand before the elden ring."

"—Become the Elden Lord."

Who are you?

And who are you?

Then who should I be?

The familiar taste of guidance returned, and Frieren, recalling the opening animation full of riddles, breathed a sigh of relief.

It was a standard narrative technique where important figures made an appearance; they must be her important enemies or friends in the future.

In any case, she secretly memorized their names and guessed that the mission was related to the shattered elden ring.

Before the Silver-haired girl was a gloomy church; her first reaction was to crouch down, hug the wall, and then observe the ceiling and corners.

Caution was necessary, otherwise, who knew which nook or cranny an enemy would pop out of.

Although dying in the game meant resurrection, it was painful and resulted in item loss.

After confirming it was safe, Frieren took a deep breath.

The air smelled of decay, and she tapped the floor tiles, which felt mottled and seemed older than her.

It was as real as ever, so real that she constantly suspected "Gaming Magic" was a spatial type, teleporting her somewhere, rather than a mental illusion.

But there was other evidence negating this suspicion:

The operation page.

With a thought, she could open a page visible only to her; other games were grayed out and unusable, perhaps because she had completed full collections and cleared them, so old ones made way for new ones.

This one displayed her general status, divided into two panels.

One was the basic panel for "Elf Race Frieren," which was her real-world status reflected in the game.

The second was the default character in the elden ring, the Astrologer, which is a mage class.

At the same time, she felt that the game characters from her previous worlds were in a sealed state, temporarily unusable.

Forcibly activating them might pose a risk, so it was better to be obedient.

Well, her own strength combined with the Astrologer would be enough.

Her goal was to graduate as a mage.

Frieren had a requirement for herself: in every new game, she would try to train the corresponding character to the extreme, so she could benefit the most upon returning to reality.

Aside from the staff she already had in reality, the starting items were no different from the game, and she seemed to have thoroughly checked her own status.
