Sengoku quickly pieced things together. From Marine intelligence reports, it had long been suspected that Kaido's Beasts Pirates and Doflamingo's Donquixote Family had shady, secret dealings.
Now, it was all but confirmed.
But in this special period, capturing one of the Beasts Pirates' Three Calamities was giving Sengoku a headache.
The Marines were preparing for war against Whitebeard, and now with Jack in custody, wouldn't this stir up more trouble?
The Marines and the Yonko had always had minor frictions, but never anything on a massive scale—only small skirmishes between their subordinates, which both sides ignored.
Jack, however, was one of Kaido's three strongest men. That was a completely different matter.
This would definitely enrage Kaido and could spark a large-scale conflict between him and the Marines.
If so, would Kaido interfere in the Marine–Whitebeard war?
The answer was obvious—yes.
While Sengoku was lost in thought, Momousagi's surprised voice came through the Den Den Mushi: "Admiral Good, you—!"
Then came Good's loud, casual voice: "Give me the Den Den Mushi, Momousagi! I've got something to tell Sengoku—no, the Fleet Admiral!"
Sengoku felt a twitch of irritation. So this guy didn't even respect him when outside?
Still, it was a small matter. He was curious about what Good wanted to say.
Soon, Good's rough voice boomed through the line: "Fleet Admiral! I'm not bringing Jack back right now!"
Sengoku blinked in surprise.
The ever-reckless, often brainless Good… was choosing not to bring Jack back? Was he thinking ahead, avoiding trouble with two Yonkos at once when the Marines were about to face Whitebeard?
For a moment, Sengoku actually felt pleased.
Could it be Good had matured—finally thinking about consequences before acting? That was a quality a commander needed.
Sengoku chuckled warmly. "Good! Not bad at all! You've finally started to see reason. Those in high positions must—"
But before he could finish, Good interrupted: "Fleet Admiral, I'm planning to hang Jack up at Dressrosa's port—along with the Beasts Pirates' flag!"
"I'll publicly humiliate them. With Kaido's temper, he'll come running—and then I'll fight him!"
The smile froze on Sengoku's face.
He sat in stunned silence, listening to Good's words, utterly speechless.
So he'd been wrong—Good hadn't grown up at all. He wasn't bringing Jack back because he wanted to lure Kaido to Dressrosa for a fight!
Sengoku rubbed his forehead in exasperation.
Nearby, the half-dead Jack, Doflamingo, and the Donquixote Family all stared at Good in disbelief.
Was this guy serious?
Even Momousagi was stunned. This plan was beyond reckless.
Sengoku's voice barked urgently from the Den Den Mushi: "Good!!! Don't you dare—"
"In the field, the commander's word is final," Good replied flatly, cutting him off. Then he hung up before Sengoku could explode further.
Turning to Doflamingo, Good ordered, "Hang Jack up at your port, along with the Beasts Pirates' flag. Write 'Beast Pirate Scum' on it!"
Doflamingo stared blankly. He'd thought Good was joking—turns out he was dead serious.
Knowing Kaido, once this news reached him, he would be furious beyond reason. If he came alone, it was one thing—but if he brought his entire crew, Dressrosa would be reduced to rubble.
And the Marines here were only Good, Momousagi, and ordinary soldiers.
Fight Kaido with that? Was this guy insane?
But insane or not, Doflamingo obeyed. The memory of Good's earlier beating was still fresh—he didn't want to end up like Jack.
He ordered his officers to get it done.
Momousagi knew she couldn't stop Good. Once he decided on something, not even a herd of sea kings could drag him back.
She could only pray Kaido didn't hear about it too quickly—and that Marine HQ sent reinforcements fast.
The Donquixote officers exchanged looks, but didn't argue. Kaido's wrath wasn't their problem—Good would take that head-on.
All they needed to do now was avoid making him angry.
Soon, the crew dragged the barely-breathing Jack toward the port.
Jack wanted to protest, but in his state, he couldn't even speak.
He could only seethe inside—Good was playing with fire. When Kaido came, this reckless admiral would be the one crying.
Jack had absolute faith in his captain's strength.
The title of "Strongest Creature on Land, Sea, and Air" was not for nothing.
He would endure for now—until Kaido arrived to avenge him.
Once Jack was hauled away, Good turned to Doflamingo and boomed, "Doflamingo, when guests come from afar, shouldn't you welcome them?"
"I'm hungry. Be generous and serve me a feast—lots of meat!"
Doflamingo curled his lip in irritation, but forced a smile. "Admiral Good, I failed to greet you properly earlier. Let's have a party to make up for it."
…
…
New World, Second Half—
Kaido sat slouched in a massive throne-like chair, looking bored out of his mind.
"Boring! Boring! Truly boring!" he roared.
Suddenly, he rose to his feet, planning to leave Onigashima and go to Sky Island to commit suicide again.
"Is there nothing in this world that makes me feel alive?!"
At that moment, a Headliner rushed in to report: "Reporting, Kaido-sama—Jack-sama… something has happened!"
