Yichen and Lu Nian arrived back home. As always, Zhaoyan was waiting at the door with that gentle smile.
"Welcome home," he said softly, opening his arms.
Yichen couldn't help but smile back. Zhaoyan pulled him into a warm embrace, whispering against his ear.
"I missed you when you weren't home."
Before Yichen could answer, Lu Nian gave a deliberate cough. Zhaoyan's sharp gaze shifted toward him, making Lu Nian instantly straighten.
"Ah—I, I'm going to my room to pack the rest of my things," Lu Nian said nervously.
Zhaoyan and Yichen stayed locked in their embrace, as if the world around them didn't matter.
"Zhaoyan… leave me," Yichen said, flustered.
"Nope," Zhaoyan replied firmly.
Yichen's cheeks flushed as he tried another excuse. "I'm hungry."
"The dinner is ready," Zhaoyan said with a teasing smile.
Yichen's lips curved upward despite himself.
"Go take a shower. I'll prepare the dinner table," Zhaoyan added.
