Yichen and Lu Nian sat in class, the low hum of chatter filling the room.
Lu Nian leaned closer, lowering his voice. "Yichen… are you really sure you're okay with this? I mean—loving a ghost?"
Yichen's pen paused above his notebook. "Lu Nian…"
"I'm just saying," Lu Nian continued, his brows knitting with concern, "I'm worried about you. What if, later on, you regret your decision?"
"I'm not regretting," Yichen replied firmly, though his tone carried a quiet finality.
Lu Nian sighed, leaning back in his seat. His gaze wandered around the classroom—until it landed on Tian Tian walking toward them. His eyes widened. "Hey… why is she coming here?"
Yichen's face drained of color. He quickly lifted his book, trying to hide. "Nian… I don't want to face her."
But Tian Tian stopped right in front of him. Slowly, reluctantly, Yichen lowered the book and met her eyes.
"Yichen," she said softly, "can we talk?"
Yichen hesitated before nodding. "Okay."
