Yichen lay asleep on the hospital bed, his face pale, an IV drip connected to his hand. The soft hum of the air conditioner filled the quiet room. Lu Nian sat beside him, watching with tired eyes, waiting for him to wake up.
A nurse entered quietly, checking the drip. Lu Nian immediately stood up. She gave him a reassuring smile.
"He'll be fine. Just a fever and some weakness," she said gently. Removing the IV from Yichen's hand, she added, "You can take him home once he wakes up."
Lu Nian nodded, his shoulders relaxing. After the nurse left, he sank back into the chair. He placed his hand on Yichen's temple, brushing lightly as if to confirm the fever had really gone. A sigh of relief escaped his lips. "Thank God," he whispered.
Slowly, Yichen's eyes fluttered open. He stared at the ceiling for a moment before shifting his gaze.
"Yichen…" Lu Nian leaned forward.
Yichen's lips parted. "Lu Nian…" His voice was soft and weak.
