Chapter 29 - Overlord: Lord of Dawn/Лорд Рассвета Lasombra Chapter 30

— Gangway, — as soon as the invisible scale of collecting dots filled up, a purple beam shot out of my helmet. In flight, the clot of neon light broke into a thousand small lines that surrounded the chimera, taking it into a cage. Following this, a hail of attacks fell on the victim. It turned out even better than expected. The first move froze all the enemy's tentacles, which posed the greatest danger.

At that very moment, a huge bolt of lightning descended from the heavens to the earth.

No, calling it a regular lightning bolt is at least disrespectful. It's a whole sea, only instead of water it's filled with electric discharges. And the entire storm wave crashed down on the motionless chimera in an instant. Great, Kurumi has connected to what's happening, now it's time to move on to the next combination of cards.

"Blood Blades Cemetery"

Dropping my hand to the ground, I cast a rather powerful spell for my class. It creates bloody swords that emerge from the ground, attacking the selected target in an area. For our enemy, such an attack is like stepping on a pile of needles. Unpleasant, no doubt, but nothing fatal.

"Maximum increase in size"

The blades grew in size dramatically, draining my mana by ten percent. The area of effect was too large, coupled with the enlarged blades, the height of which exceeded eight meters.

"Zafkiel," Kurumi's clear voice echoed through the space around us. Saying something strange while activating her abilities is typical of my ward.

She does it, but I, as her creator, am ashamed.

Shouting pompous words before an attack is the same as catching an illness. I suffer from this, and it so happened that I accidentally infected my creation with it. It turns out that the disease was inherited.

As soon as the stasis from Gangway passed, the creature immediately received the ultimate slowdown of time. Pretentious screams are bad, but they work, there is no reason to complain. However, Kurumi did not interrupt her attack, activating the magic of the tenth rank. The city was doused with a stunning winter blizzard. Hundreds of thousands of snowflakes formed by magic began to form ice tornadoes, cutting the flesh of the burning chimera like a knife through paper.

"Interestingly, based on the hunter's assessment, we only took out twenty percent of the creature's life force," my lips admiringly uttered the results of our first attacks.

- Well, this is a creation...

- No need, extra information is harmful to other people's ears - in addition to the observers closest to us, there may be distant ones. Fortunately, the ward came to her senses in time. Praising me for creating a chimera is a questionable decision.

- Well, Extermination is Extermination, - there was no point in leveling this class without ever really using it. I extended my palm forward and used "Zaanger" - one of the good cards in the deck.

The spell releases a concentrated dark green beam of flame that destroys everything in its path. This is according to the game description, but in the game it simply applied a booster, like cumulative damage. The closer the target, and the more time has passed since the start of the spell, the better the end result. This was the case before, but now the spell has changed a little, adapting to the description.

The fire of death swept across the creature's three-hundred-meter body, evaporating organic matter, turning it into nothing. Simply put, "the scourge of death for all motionless targets." And to my surprise, my creation took on a competitive streak.

Using levitation, Kurumi rose up and used the skill for mass shadow cloning. The combat potential of clones is limited to spells of the eighth tier, and they are also fragile, like porcelain. The main problem for enemies is their quantity, not their quality. When a hundred strong creatures release a hail of eighth-tier spells, and even from all sides, life loses its bright colors.

"The road is clear," I slowly moved forward, deactivating the peculiar death ray. The chimera's fleshy barriers were now absent, having fallen under the pressure of one of my skills, which allowed me to better advance deeper into the city.

Oh, these bosses that require a systematic clearing of the location.

But that's okay, the main thing is not to get caught in friendly fire, since the magic core is located in the center of the city. Right inside the main body of the monster. You still have to get to it. And... as far as I remember, the core is well guarded. In theory, by a couple of mini-bosses created by the main body of the chimera.

True, my worries about the long journey were clearly unnecessary.

Everything turned out to be much simpler.

While my ally was massively shooting at the monster from above, I was calmly moving forward. But then, quite unexpectedly, one of the tentacles grabbed my leg, carrying me to the main body to replenish the chimera's mana and health.

A weak attack, but it allows you to bypass the entire location with traps and get to its center. The express delivery procedure did not take much time, only the high rise of the tentacle surprised me. I was lifted up with force, about fifteen meters above the ground, to send an improvised catapult into the mouth of the monster.

Not a bad view, even before my eyes the disgruntled face of the chimera became clearly visible. Just when they tried to throw me into the giant mouth, I moved one meter away from the tentacle that grabbed me. As a result, the monster threw only air into its mouth, but I felt a little sorry for it. It wouldn't hurt a good delivery man to leave a good tip. Therefore, a powerful bomb was sent to the "receiver of funds". Such consumables are extremely expensive, but explode better than the Atomic Explosion.

As I landed, my feet found a good enough footing, pressing several of the chimera's tendrils to the ground, crushing them like a truck crushing a fragile ball.

- Three... two... one...

Blood is hard to wipe off even with special chemicals. That's why the chimera's exploded face could have given me a headache, which is extremely annoying. Taking the barrier scroll out of my inventory, I activated it just at the moment of the explosion. It felt like a bucket of slop had been poured on the barrier.

The smell was distinctive.

Message: "Shroud the city in mana-devouring mist" - Part of Kurumi's build is built around quickly absorbing magical energy, so I chose an ally suitable for today's raid. Ainnash has already begun to regenerate, and this process brings great difficulties, pushing the end result further and further away.

Fortunately, the order reached the addressee, and a dark blue fog rose up from the ground covered with chimera shoots across the city. While the monster is in the darkness, its regeneration will be reduced by an additional third. But the spell only lasts a couple of minutes, I should hurry.

However, after a few steps I met an interesting opponent. Yggdrasil bosses, even the weakest ones, always had their guards. Here one of the guards came out of the hole formed by the monster's recent explosion.

It looked like a three-meter troll, covered in green skin. On its head were horns, somewhat resembling a pointed crown. In fact, the natural crown is all its "clothing", but since the creature is asexual, the enemy's appearance did not cause disgust. As a weapon, it, no, it used a huge hammer, woven from tendons and other biological tissues.

— Glad to meet a biped on this rainy day, — I greeted him politely, clearly feeling the raindrops hitting my helmet. — But I have too little time to get to know him better, — it would be interesting to dissect the wondrous little animal, but Kurumi's spell doesn't last forever. — Sparagmos, — as soon as I raised my elbow, a deadly beam of light flew out of the artifact. The attack lasts for a while, so nothing prevents me from drawing a vertical cut with a golden line.

The beam easily cut the little animal into two equal parts, which, surprisingly, peeled off well from each other. They also fell in opposite directions. I walked between the two parts, as if through a gate, entering a dungeon made of human flesh.

The fleshy walls of the monster would evoke a feeling of horror in a normal person. For me, such an environment was natural and did not cause discomfort to my perception of the world. It seemed that the psychological stability of the avatar completely merged with my own: a person who had once experienced death.

- Indeed, the individual has not yet matured.

Strict censorship was widespread in Yggdrasil, so the monsters were distinguished by more humanity. And the peculiar dungeon... less horror component. Nevertheless, such a creature had more than enough defenders in the game.

Here, only one, it turns out, the individual sent all resources to its own development, and not to strengthening the defense. An uncharacteristic action for it. Is it really its own will, contradicting the initial settings? Possibly.

After passing through several corridors that were unguarded, I reached the core.

Taking into account the creature's supernatural regeneration, the red sphere in front of me must be destroyed as soon as possible. Otherwise, the consequences are hard to imagine.

"As far as I know, remote observation of the area in the dungeons is limited," I activated the scroll, taking it out to hide the events from any unwanted witnesses. "But I have no desire to use my true form without a backup."

The transformation did not cause any pain.

The tail has grown back and is sharper, but not as much as the spikes protruding from the back. The palms have also curled, sharpening the fingers, like some vampire subspecies. White fur has sprouted all over the body, like the Yeti, which is more of a defensive function than a strengthening one.

The face also distorted and changed to something else.

It felt like a swarm of raging worms were crawling towards my eyes, pumping them with mana to enhance my perception. The rest of my body had undergone drastic changes, but my heteromorphic figure still resembled a two-legged man, or rather, a two-legged monster. Now, the creatures I met, even the crazy ones, would never classify me as human.

"Triple Ultimate Acceleration" - my natural speed increased threefold, causing my body to almost teleport to the red core ten meters away from me.

"Shadow Blade Creation" - red-dark swords, shining with otherworldly power, formed in my palms. They were without handles, and were practically a direct extension of my own body.

"Aspect of Extermination: Damage Exchange" - I was extremely curious to use this ability, even though it is considered a masochist's dream. It sums up the damage dealt to the target, and then duplicates half of it to the user and the enemy. In simple terms, the player's health is sacrificed in exchange for increased damage.

"Soul Slash," the body released energy for a deafening explosion. Following this, hundreds of bloody tentacles formed on my body, the greedy ends of which dug into the chimera, like a flock of bloodsuckers into an innocent maiden. Any sacrifice of health must be compensated.

Howl!

A loud howl that hits through the helmet's protection, causing natural stunning. Too loud sounds cause discomfort. The same one that prevents you from concentrating on mass damage. The main advantage of the Nightblades is that if they enter into close combat, and the enemy's defense fails, then the enemy is almost guaranteed to be a corpse.

The blades struck out with lightning speed, like a wasp's sting.

Even enhanced perception didn't help me track my own attacks.

The red aura of the creature from the boundless ocean turned into a sea. And the sea into a river, until the river became a small stream. And when only a couple of red spots remained, my pointed tail delivered the finishing blow to the red sphere, destroying the source of the chimera's magic.

But we are not in a cute fairy tale where the villain stops living after destroying his heart. Pumped-up chimeras have many more vital organs than trivial Demon Kings with several hearts. Nevertheless, Kurumi and I managed to destroy the main organ responsible for mana circulation with our combined efforts. In other words, the creature's regenerative functions are at zero, and its health is below fifty percent.
