Chapter 33 - Overlord: Lord of Dawn/Лорд Рассвета Lasombra Chapter 34

In Yggdrasil, there were often event or filler events.

The first activities could develop into an interesting chain of quests, leading the player to the most unexpected endings. Usually, at the end of the chain, a reward awaited them: secret information or a powerful artifact. However, sometimes there were incidents, like in the famous quest with a frying pan from the adventures of a monster hunter; in that quest, the developers mercilessly cut out further events due to lack of time.

The second activities simply didn't mean anything, their utility factor proudly stood at zero. But it's worth noting that random events like collecting herbs for the garlic farmer are important, they help make the game world more alive, and not leave it a dead desert. The setting of Mad Max is intriguing, but it quickly becomes boring. Gamers are not interested in exploring an empty world where nothing happens except the main plot.

This world is very similar to the game due to the abundance of game mechanics, and it is difficult for me to say now what type of events have begun. I will hope for the first option, perhaps it will be possible to come across a dangerous and powerful necromancer during the course of the plot, capable of commanding an army of the dead with the Scourge. Ha... Now it is too late for him to ask for mercy.

- Quickly, build a barricade, they must not get into residential areas!

— An army of undead has broken through the cemetery!

- Skeletons are vulnerable to blunt weapons! Don't use swords against them!

- No, no, don't come any closer. A-a-a-a!

- Don't stand there like a pillar, help him!

- Archers on the wall, damn you, you have to hold them back!

- Impossible! The skeletons began to merge into a single monster!

- We are corpses...

- Evileye, prepare your spells! Gagaran, push back their people... Tia, Tina - help kill all the skeletons that broke out of the cemetery.

- As you say, evil boss.

- As you say, evil boss.

- Hey! You two! Don't call me that!

The closer to the cemetery, the more intense the chaos of the battle became.

The revived skeletons attacked the guards, who tried to fight back in a desperate attempt to protect their loved ones. Meanwhile, the team of adamantite adventurers tried their best to help the suffering. Mercenaries and other adventurers did not stand aside, but collectively, like on a clean-up day, put their efforts into the common cause.

My new companions were good representatives of the light side of the force, so I had no aggression towards them. On the contrary, the fighting spirit of the fearless adventurers delighted me. It was a pity that my ward was purely depressed. Kurumi yawned every now and then, watching their low-level skills.

"Enhanced Ultimate Magic: Crystal Dagger!" A large crystal dagger materialized in the air, and Evileye sent it flying into the huge mess of bones.

When hundreds of low-ranking skeletons gather together, they can assemble into a larger monster like construction set pieces. The danger level will not increase, so weaker, larger skeletons are not dangerous to players. Take the low-ranking spell Evileye cast as an example, it easily disassembled the resulting Lego skeleton into pieces.

— Crystal Wall — a rather useful defensive ability that allows hundreds of thousands of small crystals to form from the ground. The magic quickly sealed the cemetery gates that had been broken by the undead. Judging by the fact that the main fight was taking place right in front of the broken gates, and no one was rushing to other places to help…

It turns out that there is only one exit from the cemetery.

— Ninjutsu technique: dark transition, — the girl with the broom-shaped hairdo moved from one shadow to another, after which she instantly struck the weak skeleton's head. The most ordinary kick was enough to defeat the enemy. The twin repeated a similar procedure, only instead of striking, she cut the skeleton into small pieces with a knife, ignoring the enemy's resistance to the piercing weapon.

The tall female tank let out a battle cry and rushed into the crowd of enemies, throwing the bony dead around with her war hammer, like a capricious child throwing toys. The leader of the adventurers laid waste to the crowd with a swing of her black sword, and Ivileye mercilessly destroyed everyone with magic.

Initially, I jokingly assumed that some player tried to cover his tracks with Plan B, but using such pathetic creatures for this is clearly not the best solution. Another option - creating weak creatures to reduce the vigilance of strong opponents - is possible, but not a reasonable one.

Any Yggdrasil player, on the contrary, will increase attention to detail to the limit if the situation seems strange to him. The resonance of strangeness is formed more than others by weak skeletons of the first level. Such weak enemies are impossible to find even in the farming zone for beginners.

"Floating swords," using the floating blades behind her, Lakyus mercilessly ground up the fragile bones of the poor skeletons, who didn't even have any equipment.

I wonder if I'm fighting for the wrong side? I'm sure the Nazarick resident thinks that the skeletons here are so weak that they urgently need a bony hero of justice to protect them from the evil adventurers who oppress the defenseless creatures with their power.

A stupid joke, but reflecting the essence of the world order here, taking into account the collected information. There is something wrong with this world: too weak creatures live here. The sweetest wine is will, and the most intoxicating wine is power. With so many insignificant opponents in the area, any more or less strong creature will feel like the master of the universe. Playing with dolls in the form of weak people or skeletons, a child with a god's remote control can face impunity, and where there is no law, the train of sanity quickly goes off the rails.

Just in case, I should expand our base's intelligence network. For example, using advanced chimeras that can move quickly and adapt to society. If players or similar creatures appear in the world, they should be immediately captured and placed under close supervision. In essence, give them the right to choose: to come over to my side, agreeing to an invisible leash, or go on a tour of the third underground floor of Nazarick.

The existence of strong creatures that revel in strength and crush ants is highly undesirable. Even if there are no players, the previous hitmen died of old age or killed each other, then problems still remain after them. The history of this world remembers a creature that brought a world-class item with it. It could have had descendants. Where there are children of players, there are potentially uncontrollable variables. They can break all the clearly structured processes of society, the creation of which will require a lot of effort. Since the entire world consists of weak creatures, it does not need many strongmen. It is important to maintain balance.

"Mr. Bondrewd, do you know what's going on?" The blonde's question followed the execution of good teamwork. Almost all of the skeletons that had emerged from the cemetery had been destroyed by the adamantite-ranked adventurer team. The rest were participating indirectly.

"I dare to assume that a couple of novice necromancer students decided to conduct a simple ritual to resurrect the dead," I continued after thinking for a bit. "It's possible that my assumption is false."

- Ah, yes... the students... Such an army of the undead, it was definitely raised by the ma...

"Yes," I interrupted Lakyus deliberately, knowing exactly where she was going with this. "Considering the mass weakness of the raised undead, calling summoners the necromancer's apprentices is a complete disrespect on my part to all the apprentices. This was done by ordinary practitioners who found a couple of books on raising the undead for dummies. They probably headed to the nearest cemetery to try out the first pages of the manual," for some reason, the blonde's expression changed to a more gloomy one after my words. Was it really necessary to limit it not to a group of practitioners, but to just one necromancer's apprentice?

"My leader is definitely never wrong," Kurumi, who was standing next to her, nodded contentedly, supporting our game perfectly. She was even able to disrupt the course of Ivileye's spell with simple words, as she was finishing off the last skeletons that had gotten out of the graveyard but hadn't managed to get far with a hail of crystal shards. The twins and the female tank actively helped her with this.

As the players in Yggdrasil said: GG - Good Game.

Kurumi and I also have great teamwork: embarrassing and stunning cute girls with our carelessness. Amazing entertainment. Responsibility does not allow us to do something like this with the inhabitants of Nazarick, and here I have not yet taken responsibility for anyone. But it is worth helping the locals, so to speak, we join the team.

"I'll try to look around," I calmly informed everyone and walked slowly towards the stone staircase formed by the successive laying of slabs. Previously, it was used by the garrison soldiers to quickly climb the four-meter wall that encircled the cemetery.

Now archers with arrows were climbing up it.

They chose a great spot to knock down their opponents with a hail of arrows. Regular sharpened arrowheads cannot kill the undead with infinite stamina and zero flesh, even the weakest. But the guys were not discouraged, they had something to protect, so they did their job properly: delay the enemy until reinforcements arrived at any cost.
