Chapter 5 - Lord of Dawn/Лорд Рассвета Lasombra Chapter 5

In the vast storage room of the laboratory, the slender and charming figure of a girl, who in the past caused surprised sighs from all members of our guild, stood quietly. Every player of the Ainz Ooal Gown guild who encountered her at least once noted the meticulous approach to creating her appearance.

But it is not only feminine beauty that makes a lady charming.

Clothes play an important role, and everything is in order with them. She is wearing an outfit that, to put it in romantic terms, was "most likely stolen from a fashion show," or, to be honest, from the corpse of a sorceress. Of course, I was a little confused by the difference between her dress and the original one, previously equipped. It seems like a small thing, but it says a lot if the brain is able to catch and process all the details.

One of the little things is that NPCs can change their appearance on their own. I used to enjoy "shopping" for my beloved Kurumi. I dressed her in a variety of outfits, and since she decided to change it without my participation, she had something like "it would be nice to please my creator" on her mind.

Most likely, the memories of the intelligent inhabitants of Nazarick were transferred to this world along with them. Hence the strange behavior of my ward.

Instead of the standard dark red dress, she is now wearing a black Gothic Lolita outfit, dark stockings and gloves. Also under the dark dress there is another one - white, smaller in size, but making the contrast with the black simply fantastic. And the scarlet rose as the top button is more beautiful than those that princes give to their chosen ones. The white patch on her left eye was alarming, but this is how her personality was intended - a girl who sometimes hides an eye in the form of a golden watch behind a patch.

Well, I had only to pause my gaze on her for a wave of excitement to wash over me. This was good, certainly better than the desire to experiment on such a rare representative of the "Living Spirit" class.

I'm sure if you make an incision on...

Okay, stop!

As soon as you relax, a thousand and one associations immediately appear on how to properly cut and examine the almost living representatives of her race. Ah... exactly, the skills of Yggdrasil. I think they work in this world not as numbers, but as real experience, clearly imprinted in the mind.

If I had known in advance, I wouldn't have pumped some of them, especially the abilities responsible for understanding the anatomy of monsters. Yes, for now the versions about the influence of skills, karma and worldview on personality are the main ones for me. Following them is the fact that my Alter Ego was also transferred, very roughly fused to the main consciousness.

This matter needs to be investigated.

It's breathtaking...

No, no, examining your own brain is ethically wrong.

Just a little bit.

"I'm glad to see you, I hope you weren't bored," the caring address to the personally created being made me sigh with relief. There seemed to be no evil intentions, good, I hope there won't be any in the near future.

- Oh-oh. You won't get bored in this place, - the answer with a bit of sarcasm turned out to be wonderful, considering the meeting place in the sinister laboratory. If my memory serves me right, I added a bit of bitchiness to her character, believing that this trait has never hurt anyone, making any girl more beautiful and desirable. - But yes, it's true. How do I look? - abruptly changing the topic and not hiding a defiant smile, the dark-haired girl cutely lifted the edges of her dress, and then with a shining, even dazzling smile turned to me.

"This outfit suits you. It emphasizes the breadth of your character, as well as your freedom in choosing your decisions," the compliment was painfully simple.

I am not a romantic to invent something unnatural or quote Shakespeare.

In a relationship with a girl who has a thing about perverted love for the creator, it is better to behave as humanly as possible. The behavior of a ruler or a superior person who demands respect and veneration will cause rejection if the conversation takes place in a completely private setting.

We are not strangers, one could say that we have a purely trusting relationship. Although her manic trait is capable of breaking out at any moment towards me, for some reason this fact does not cause any fear. On the contrary, it overwhelms me with the expectation of any non-standard reaction that makes the interlocutor more alive.

- Hee-hee, - the girl laughed almost sweetly, but if there was an ordinary person here, his heart might have trembled. Let's say - from fear. - Well, well, too dry, but I like it, - the girl clarified more cheerfully, and then used intangibility and levitation, which caused her to first fly into the wall at medium speed, after which she flew out of the floor, ending up to my right.

While she was fooling around, I was looking at the contents of the warehouse.

It contained a lot of different stuff, but mostly personal equipment for effectively confronting players was "lying around".

Each game character can be thought of as an ordinary person, and people are different. By nature, most of them are chaotic and unpredictable, especially true for people from the year 2138. In it, girls and boys went to Yggdrasil to let off steam after a tiring day, playing psychos more often than noble heroes.

To believe that we can all coexist peacefully is stupid.

The obstacle must be grabbed by the throat, forcibly taken to the laboratory and tied to the research table for experiments in order to obtain all the necessary information.

A good plan, although it is not clear what makes one think in this direction: the transferred Alter Ego, the skills or the race of the chimera lord.

"Are we preparing for a sortie?" Kurumi pressed herself unnecessarily close to me, her head bowed, and her only eye not covered by the bandage looked straight into the slit of my helmet.

— Something amazing happened — in fact, many amazing things happened. It seems that the NPCs do not suspect that they have only recently gained intelligence, and before that they played the role of extras. Since they are alive and believe in it, I will not refute this belief in any way.

- So what? - frowning, the cutie was not satisfied with the omission.

If you said "A", then say "B".

"Be more patient, you will soon find out for yourself, as soon as the Demiurge collects more information," during a simple conversation from the category "soon everything secret will become clear", I approached the metal box.

Inside it are collected combat artifacts for battles with players. Some of them were scattered around the warehouse, but Kurumi did a great job of cleaning, more or less sorting everything into "shelves".

— This stylist? — I think that at the moment of Kurumi's disdainful attitude towards Demiurge, somewhere in Nazarick a stylish sadist must have sneezed.

The Guardian of the Seventh Floor enjoys the suffering of other beings, but Demiurge is a great, stylish, and exemplary Archdevil. Also, his personality has a couple of additions from me, since at the time of his creation, his creator approached me for advice.

Ulbert wanted to make the guardian a complete evil, with a bias towards magic and experiments on people. And if the magic system is not for me, then as for experiments - always welcome. I am from another world, where censorship was not elevated to absolute. I can both reveal the details of the human centipede and list all the main research experiments conducted in the past world closer to the middle of the twentieth century.

"Nobody forbids you to dress well," I shrugged and began searching for the three most valuable combat artifacts.

Using them all at once is stupid, but this statement is true for the past Yggdrasil, without the possible addition of "death in the game is death in reality." In a game with the ability to reincarnate, once you lose a precious item after death, the dissatisfaction with the situation will tear your nervous system to pieces. My style of playing a ganker has always been accompanied by balancing on the edge of death, so there are no risks.

The reason is simple, many of my artifacts are presented in the form of additional weapons - Amazing usefulness for battles.

I have never equipped more than two useful items before.

Also, for the sake of more roleplaying, I used the "Rename" function purchased for real money on all items. Even on those items that I never used, but kept like the last miser in the far corner of the safe storage.

"I don't like fashionistas, I like down-to-earth people more," having confidently expressed her preferences, Kurumi walked up to one of the closed boxes with expendable bombs and simply sat on top, crossing her legs and waiting for me with a smile.

Sitting on a powder keg...

It sounds dangerous, even worried about her well-being. After all, each tennis ball-shaped bomb has a powerful and extremely dangerous enchantment.

"Amazing fastidiousness to someone else's desire to look better," I said with an internal smirk, finishing taking out and installing additional weapons on myself. Some equipment can be equipped by only a few of the game classes. It also has lower power than the main one, so the name "combat artifact" is more suitable for it.

A "Sparagmos" was installed on the right elbow.

The artifact will be better than many tenth rank spells aimed at destroying a fat target. After all, it can generate enough heat so that the golden beam it releases is equal in temperature to the sun. As a bonus, it completely ignores the physical and magical resistance of the target. The weapon deals enough damage to it to kill a medium tank at once, having invested all the points from the levels into health and defense. The only drawback is the cooldown of use: no more than once every five hours. This is approximately how long it will take to accumulate the required charge, which has a small radius of destruction due to the increased concentration of light particles released in the form of a spear or cutting arc.

The next weapon is an elbow pad for launching cursed darts.

I gave the name straight from the original source: "Shaker", also known as "Cursed Needle". In Yggdrasil, such an additional weapon had a rare rank, so it took an inordinate amount of resources to upgrade it into something useful. It was even possible to put the necessary curse on the darts, and if they hit the target, only an experienced healer of the hundredth level will save it. Moreover, the victim will not be able to save himself, one of the curses reduces the effectiveness of self-healing to five percent, while another effect reduces the level of the health bar by ten percent every second. The artifact is used according to the situation, since it is necessary to penetrate corporeal creatures without strong resistance to poisons. Most often it is used to induce panic in a healer of the human race.

The last artifact bears the proud name "Touch of the Moon" and is attached to the back of the left wrist.

The artifact allows the release and manipulation of an infinite number of biological tentacles. A dream come true for any climber who wants to scale any height in the blink of an eye. But, of course, it is most useful for capturing and destroying a large group of agile opponents, forming deadly fly swatters. In addition, the black color of the tentacles matches my suit perfectly, and the additional weapon itself has no obvious weaknesses.
