Chapter 11 - Overlord: Lord of Dawn/Лорд Рассвета Lasombra Chapter 11

After a day of travel, I began to be overcome by various doubts. Everything is very, very strange. I would even say that the situation went beyond my expectations. The problem is simple, but at the same time disturbing - Shalltear and I did not find anything suspicious.

There was no monk who had recently emerged from a glacier and could wield magic from all four elements, no heroes of justice who could divide the world in half with the power of faith. No demon lords were awakening, no Japanese schoolchildren were being summoned, and no world wars were looming. Even the traveling merchants and local aborigines had heard nothing of threats on a continental scale, or titans threatening the civilian population with total annihilation.

Every gossip has its audience.

All living beings have an inherent desire for communication. We subconsciously strive for socialization. To be one with the herd and so on. In essence, intelligent beings thoughtlessly create the perfect environment for rumors to fly faster than the fastest hound in the world. But not a single rumor indicated the appearance of someone from Yggdrasil in this world.

I know the habits of players well, there are few cautious ones among them. Someone would definitely start massacring villages to raise undead or chimeras, and the champions of the light would perform feats, earning themselves a noble reputation. It's just that all players cannot be cautious. It is impossible for them to hide so well, giving no signs of life.

That's right, there are hickey nerds!

Perhaps only those who were in the guild hall were transported to the new world. Recluses are afraid of everything new and unknown more than others, so they try not to leave safe havens. If so, then these players are weak-willed - they are easy to crush when meeting, as well as simply deceive or mislead. No, considering them as rivals is a waste of time. So-so-so ... maybe more powerful players are hiding nearby, sharpened for stealth assassinations? For example, I myself built a build on reconnaissance and counterintelligence for the systematic clearing of players on the battlefield.

"Sir, we will soon arrive at the city that those worthless ones spoke of." Shalltear's silver locks fluttered in the wind and looked mesmerizing. The night time itself beautified the already pretty vampire, the darkness especially highlighted her shining scarlet eyes. Amazingly, they attracted my gaze like the precious rubies of a thief.

"That's great news," I patted her head, trying to ignore the cold night wind blowing under my helmet. It's best to explore the area at high altitude, but the higher you get above ground, the more treacherous the wind becomes.

The story of how we broke the rule - born to crawl cannot fly - is quite funny. We were exploring the territory outside the circle cordoned off by chimeras, when suddenly a gang of small-time bandits came at us. A standard fantasy situation, but alas and alack. I did not have a blade at hand to nobly fight off the misfortune, protecting my companion from the "threat".

Instead, I decided to test the creation of mid-level chimeras on lab mice. I'm not a Fairy Godmother, and the vampire Cinderella, so we rewrote the tale a little. In our own way, so to speak. There was no pumpkin on hand, but there were several mice to compensate for this omission. By transforming them into a living carriage and a flying headless pegasus, everything was almost like in a fairy tale. Even better, our carriage could float freely, as if by magic, to attract less attention from the ground worms.

"If you want to do it right here…" the girl provocatively climbed onto my lap, after which she began to run her finger over my helmet without asking, greedily looking for a hint of my consent.

"No need to rush in windy weather, let's rent a hotel room first," I calmly delayed the inevitable for a few hours. The last thing I needed was to miss our stop.

Things are hard for me.

Another sex-hungry member of the fair sex has appeared in my new life, and I still have to deal with the problems of "my devoted fan". It seems that I accidentally made a serious bug in Albedo's program. This became especially noticeable after reading the results of the Nazarick census. Yes, the succubus included herself in the census, and her sheet stood out among the pile of waste paper with its bright aroma, the quality and size of the paper, and its position in the front row.

The Floor Guardians are extremely devoted beings who piously adore the higher beings. I, on the other hand, inadvertently concentrated the adoration of the 42 beings on myself alone, thereby becoming for her something like a god, only elevated to the absolute among other deities. A being "the only one worthy of standing above all", and who "darkens everyone around with his radiance". And a being because of whom she is no longer able to desire anyone else...

In a small part of her dossier on herself, more like a declaration of love, it is written: "The Overseer of the Floor Guardians of the Great Tomb of Nazarick is your most devoted and loyal follower. It is my duty to preserve my virginity for the beloved Lord. You can rest assured of my competence as a servant and your concubine. And I dare not ask for anything, only hoping for as frequent, personal audience with you in your private chambers as possible. Oh, and what kind of underwear do you like the most, Master? Or do you not like it and want to go without it? Or perhaps…"

Catching myself thinking that I feel awkward reading anything further, especially from this girl, I decided to take a short break. It seems that God ordered fire not to burn people. I want to, but there is no way. As a result, I have a super-greedy girl for sex who only wants me. Shalltear is easier with this, she can always spend a pleasant night in the company of vampire brides. And Albedo is really short-circuited. I want, but only one thing, only here and now, plus many more times.

The minimum goal is to survive the night with the guard general, who is a tank by nature, and the girl, who has the highest stamina in Nazarick.

The ultimate goal is to not focus on other people's cockroaches in my head; I have enough of my own.

Message: "Albedo, request the Fallen Ascension statue from Kurumi in the lab's storage. Once you receive it, imagine your most hated vices that you want to get rid of once and for all, then activate the item."

Reply message: "As you command, I'll be right there…"

Message: "Kurumi, come to you..."

Reply message: "Yes, yes, I already know…"

What an amazing efficiency, but I won't be surprised if my honestly stolen thing can work really well in this world. Previously, I managed to knock out only four such items due to their rarity. Not many priests carried this item in their inventory, because it allowed the user to cleanse their karma, raising it almost from the bottom to the top. For priests of the light gods - points of justice, as for me my inventions - one cannot exist without the other.

Usually, players named the sin of murder before activation, since "Player Killer" reduced karma the most. But sometimes it was theft and so on. After the sin was presented, it was automatically atoned for by erasing it from the system. The item description said that the eraser goes through the "chronicles of history" and other Dark Souls-style crap, but it doesn't matter. As far as I know, being a nymphomaniac is also considered a crime, judging by religious legends, so the item should work.

We'll just check if it's possible to influence the personalities of NPCs, as well as their personal growth above themselves, with rare items from Yggdrasil. I don't want to have a virgin-sufferer-nymphomaniac at my side for my status and peace of mind. There are enough problems just from her personal trait of my most devoted fan.

"Get ready to teleport," I warned my companion about my actions as I flew over the city.

"Decomposition"

It would be best to destroy the flying carriage and the living chimera to cover up any traces. Before the body of our transport turned to dust, I took out a scroll of hidden teleportation from my inventory to safely transport Shalltear and me to the alley of the city we were flying over.

Entering a medieval city through the main gate, especially at night, is simply not safe, there is a lot of red tape and work during inspection. Using teleportation magic is also not an option due to the unknown defense system of this settlement. It is best to use a donation scroll for safe transfer, and it is better to do this from the air, in order to choose an excellent place to start. A good plan, in my opinion. Many things bought for real money are extremely useful. Thanks to them, our hidden penetration cannot be tracked by standard magic from Yggdrasil.

- Amazing, sir, your treasures are incredible! - I had a suspicion that sincere praise was far-fetched. I simply used consumables, of which I have too many, since I bought them during the Christmas promotion.

"Your praise warms my heart. But remember, you can act carefully or roughly; now we are playing the first option. With such penetration, we will not be discovered, even if a meeting of those equal to me in strength is held here," I did not engage in empty moralizing, but simply tried to give practical advice. After all, for me, almost all the inhabitants of Nazarick are children with amazing talents, but their cheating compensated for the meager amount of practical experience. "And yes, always remain on guard. Previously, we encountered mainly insects, but tigers may live in this city," during my explanation, my gaze caught on a couple passing by the alley.

A sorceress with bright purple hair and a guy in a fully enclosed helmet.

"Shadow Stealing"

Using my class ability, I quickly captured the shadows of the couple. They flowed towards us like small streams, hiding under the dim moon. A few seconds later, the alien shadows enveloped me and my companion. The ability is not very useful, and simply creates an accurate illusion of the appearance of any creature casting a shadow. Usually, I disguised myself as a tree like this, waiting for adventurers at the exit of dungeons in red zones.

"Is this… is this… is this… the appearance of lower beings?" the vampire asked me in a slight panic, with undisguised disgust for her illusory appearance. Her panic was also caused by the twitching and fidgeting of her body, as if she had been put into a cocoon from which she could not escape.

However, it is worth noting that she now looked like a completely different person to low-level people, even noticeably increased in body height and chest. Unfortunately for her, her chest is still intangible. I could see through the illusion created by the shadow, just as she could easily see through the fake, seeing my original appearance.

"A mirage that confuses the thoughts of insects. Try to analyze all the glances they cast at you. If you see suspicion, or someone looks into your real eyes," I slightly tilted my chin so that the slit in my helmet pointed to the location of the eyes of Shalltear's true form. It was funny that her head was located in the place where the chest of the shadow illusion was. "Let me know," I politely asked the girl, to which she happily nodded.

But, after leaving the alley and walking along the streets, we again didn't notice anything strange. "Predator Rating" showed the average level of the creatures around me. Small fry, which was at such a low level that the city could theoretically be cleared by a level 35 noob player.

The first part of the mission is complete, and the second can only be started at dawn. It is connected with finances and fishing, only instead of worms as bait we will use precious metals. The key to success is gold. Players must show it off, spending their wealth left and right. Gold is very valuable in this world, and the game coinage is unique, as is the composition of gold coins.

I destroyed the identification marks on some of the coins in my inventory with the corrosive darkness, and since they are made of pure gold, there are almost no problems with exchanging and accepting them. But I was still curious if there were any idiots who started actively paying with this money without first working on their privacy. If so, there are players in this city, which means we can begin a full-scale transformation of this zone into a slaughterhouse.

- Lord of Dawn, there is a hotel there, - my companion knew absolutely nothing about conspiracy, so she kept calling me by my nickname. Fortunately, there were few people wandering around the city in the late evening. However, they kept paying attention to my hyperactive companion, waving her hands in the direction of any place where there was a potential bed. - Oh, and you can rent a room there. Let's rent one?

I wonder if there's a quick walkthrough for building a harem? I guess I could win the "Any%" category. Technically, I had a harem of beautiful girls before I realized it or could even imagine it.

Okay, having and not using is not my thing.

There's not much to do in the city before dawn anyway.
