Chapter 11 - Battle

Seeings the blood pour out of Alrin's body Alara did not hold back in her attack. With a swipe of her hand a giant blade of lotus petals formed slashing across not just the room but the entire house pushing the man back.

Taking this chance Alara quickly moved to Alrin's side and began trying to heal him. Using her abilities of the Life Path she poured her Sencia into him in order to try to heal him but it was too no avail no matter how much Sencia went into him it simply vanished. All she had done in her attempt was get her robes covered in his blood.

"Alrin you can't die you made me a promise!" She shouted through tears.

Alrin was still barely alive at this point but his last bits of consciousness began to fade at this moment as one last thought appeared in his head. "So your care was genuine…"

"A wasted endeavor he's already dead." The fiend said suddenly appearing. He had black hair, brown soulless eyes, and was wearing dark purples robes.

"Vera take care of him." She quietly spoke as she stood up to face the man with her disguise fading away. It was unfortunate but Alara could not even mourn for Alrin in this moment.

"Alara… ok." She was wanted to say more but now was not the time.

"Now now don't think it will be that easy. Unfortunately I have to complete the ritual today before anyone else in your sect intervenes." The man said snapping his fingers as chaos began to reign within the town.

Within multiple homes in the town people began transforming into grotesque beasts one of which was a little girl who had thought she had been living happily with her father for the past few months.

"He's created nightmare beasts around the town."At this moment a faint white aura enveloped Alara causing her to be extremely sensitive to the Sencia around her and was able to quickly see what he did. "I will deal with him save as many people as you can."

Seeing the man everything began to click for Rex as he figured out the purpose of the ritual, "The ritual is for his immortal ascension as a fiend the foundation of his cores are probably weak so all these lives are for him to deal with the tribulation so he can effortlessly ascend to immortality."

"You've only just realized? It seems I overestimated the capabilities of your Star Sect." The man said truly disappointed if he had known they were still so ignorant he would have taken a different approach.

"It doesn't matter today I'm your tribulation." Alara calmly spoke before attacking him.

While Alara was pushing the man back Vera issued out orders to the other two,"Take the two on the outskirts I'll deal with the three at the center. If you finish your battle first help who you feel needs it most and don't forget to save any lives you can." She said the last part looking at Edward.

"Of course I would love to do nothing more than to save lives." Edward spoke sarcastically.

"Now is not the time lets go." Rex said to Edward as he jumped out of the building to which Edward did the same but in a different direction.

Before Vera left she had one last thing to do as she worked over to the mayor who had been caught up in Alara's attack and was slowly dying. She picked up him up by the neck and forcefully fed him a couple of pills.

After a few seconds the mayor woke up and felt a fear he had never felt before as Vera looked him in the eyes.

"Today you set us up and my friend died cause of it. For that you've lost the right to choose your own death." Saying that Vera snapped her fingers and the man felt excruciating pain as if his soul was trying to tear itself out of his body but it only lasted a moment. "Now that you understand what I can do ensure no further harm comes to his body. Storing bodies inside of rings is extremely disrespectful so you must guard him with your life if their is even a single hair missing I will ensure you wish you had died today understood?" Vera spoke with a bone chilling viciousness she had not shown before to which the mayor could only nod his head too. With that done Vera quickly left to help save the rest of the town.

At the same time Alara was having troubles dealing with the fiend since he was one following the space path. She could sense that he was leading her somewhere but she was unwilling to give up on her pursuit even if he was. Eventually he stopped running when they arrived at an empty area that is even free snow just outside of the town.

"To walk into such an obvious traps should I praise your loyalty in trying to avenge your companion?" He asked to which Alara did not bother responding too. "Fine then we can begin."

Above Alara a formation activated as a barrier appeared around the area trapping the two of them. Within the barrier Alara noticed the space around her began to distort as the falling snow no longer fell straight down. Instead it appeared to be teleporting around her appearing anywhere without rhyme or reason.

Unfortunately she did not have any more time to analyze the effect of the formation as she suddenly moved her arm to the side avoiding a distortion of space where her arm had been.

"To think you dodged that it seems all my preparations won't go to waste." The man spoke feeling somewhat entertained for the first time in months.

Alara did not respond instead she began summoning lotus petals around her to prepare for her attack not taking her eyes of the man for one second but despite this she suddenly sensed numerous attacks without him even making a move.

She was more prepared this time focusing on the movement of the Sencia around her she used her petals to block most attacks while evading others. While she was able to defend she was still left at a disadvantage as that was all she could do.

Like this five minutes quickly passed and after defending against the relentless barrage of attacks the entire time Alara showed her first improvement taking her a step forward to the man's surprise.

After another five minutes Alara her speed had movement had greatly increased as she began to be able to feel the sense the moment the attacks were being formed and preemptively deal with them.

"I wanted to keep you alive but it seems I will have to give up on trying." He said making a direct move for the first time appearing in front of Alara swinging his hand like a knife aiming to slash through her entire torso.

Seeing the man appear in front of her Alara was caught off guard not because she had not been keeping an eyes on his movement but because he had moved far faster than she anticipated. That mere moment of surprise caused her response to be too slow almost costing her, her life.

Fortunately she was able to move her petals fast enough to block part of the attack but a large slash wound still appeared over Alara diagonally over Alara's torso as her unusually clean robes ended up covered in her own blood.

She quickly jumped back but no normal person would give their enemy a chance to recuperate so naturally the man chased after her.

"Since you will die by my hands today I suppose I should tell you my name that way you can remember the one who killed you even if you reincarnate. Remember the name Csepel." He spoke arrogantly prepared to finish Alara off.

This time he appeared behind her and just like before he began to slash his hand distorting space but this time when he appeared he applied another aspect of the space path known as a spatial lock. It wouldn't even last a second against another cultivator but that even that mere fraction of a second would be enough to kill someone.

When Csepel appeared behind her Alara immediately tried to move but felt her body lock in space as if she was encased in solid stone unable to move. Still despite this she was prepared possessing knowledge of the space path she quickly pulled her body out the way using the lotus petals she had kept around but it was again still slightly slow as her left arm went flying.

She was now missing an arm but no trace of despair could be seen in her eyes. Even in this situation she full of boundless confidence as she stared down Csepel.
