Chapter 26 - Luck

The two lights kept approaching until their faces were clearly visible. Just like the "woman" Morris had murdered these women were the same height but had one clear difference which was their heads. One had the head of a Donkey while the other had the head of a Curly haired baboon.

Morris felt the astrolabe in his bag thrash around violently giving him an idea.

He reached into the bag and took out the astrolabe, he stepped up and threw it at the "woman" infront of him.

"The ruler of stars-"

Morris closed his ears as much as he could when the astrolabe began praising it's god. Praying wasn't up to the astrolabe, it was fully out of it's control and it would randomly worship this deity.

...

In the capital of Intis, Trier, a lone astronomer was standing next to his telescope sipping on some sweet ice tea. He stared at the red moon in the sky before grabbing onto the telescope.

He stared at the sky when the stars suddenly brightened for some reason. He dropped the telescope and scrambled to pick it up, when he looked back at the sky the stars had gone back to their normal state.

"What just happened..."

His mouth was hanging agape, he was both excited and shocked.

...

Whether it was a coincidence or luck Morris wasn't sure but he didn't care at the moment.

The two women were both instantly crushed into pancakes with nothing other than their dresses left behind. The astrolabe finally stopped moving around so Morris slowly picked it up and when he was sure it stopped praying he shoved it into the bag and continued following the trail of constellations. Luckily the trail didn't dissappear so he followed it as fast as he could since his face was bleeding and there would surely be more monsters hunting him down.

After what felt like ages he found a room. This was the biggest room he's seen so far, it had two long table made from stone and countless cabinets and storage spaces.

Cough!

A splatter of blood covered the floor when Morris coughed. He searched through all the cabinets and found some alcohol and a towel. He took off his shirt and tore it to pieces before covering some of his scars, he elevated his head and applied pressure to his neck to try and stop the bleeding. He was already feeling pretty light headed and tired.

Finally when the bleeding stopped after a few minutes he cleaned up with the alcohol before wrapping up his wounds. Almost his whole head was bandaged up now with hair sticking out the top. After resting he finally got up and wandered around the room.

He found the desiccated mature Black-spotted Frog pretty quickly.

I sure am lucky. Praise the Light!

Praise the Light was a line he came up with. The Lght referring to the Primordial Light of course. He believed all these coincidences came from that ancient god.

The rest of the Corpse Collector ingredients were found in the same room. 80 milliliters of repeatedly distilled liquor, 10 drops of Black-spotted Frog mucus, 10 drops of Black Lily hydrosol and 1 used burial shroud.

Now that everything was finally gathered Morris grabbed a large Pot and stood there silently... he didn't know how to make the potion!

He took out the astrolabe and decided to ask for it's help.

"How do I concoct the sequence 9 Corpse Collector potion?"

The astrolabe shook in his hands slightly before speaking in the mechanical voice.

"First, the supplementary Ingredients, second the main ingredients- you must be very precise. 80 milliliters, no more, no less. Even a slight mistake could cause you to lose control once you drink it."

Fortunately the bottles and vials he held seemed to have the precise amounts of what is needed. When creating a potion there's an order you must follow.

The making process had began. Morris's hands where shaking but he managed to pull through and begin adding each ingredient one by one. He was keeping the formula he got from the Primordial Light in mind with each step. First the 80 milliliters of repeatedly distilled liquor and then the rest of the supplementary Ingredients. The pot reeked of decay, sulfur and everything else Morris could think of, it was a taking on a grayish color until he threw in the Cloth-wrapped Person's Crystal and desiccated mature Black-spotted Frog which were the two main ingredients.

A burst of smoke erupted from the pot and slowly settled down. Morris poured the blackish fluid into a bottle and threw the pot away. This was the moment he was waiting for all this time.

He picked up the glass bottle and closed his eyes. At the same time he was bringing the bottle up to his lips he was trying to keep himself calm and composed.

When he thought he was ready he tilted the potion and downed it in one go.

The room got cold and gloomy in a instant, his body was freezing cold and his teeth clattered super fast. Knowledge over the undead poured into his mind as he held onto the stone table infront of him.

Before Morris knew it, it was all over. He clasped his hands together and praised the Primordial Light immediately, assuming "He" was the one who helped him digest the potion so quickly and easily.

Morris Byrne was now a sequence 9 Corpse Collector.

His body had gained an enhancement but more importantly there was a gloomy aura around him that made him kind of creepy. His body temperature was also lowered to prevent him from being attacked by the undead and spirits. His spirituality was also increased a little.

"I'm still not sure about How this is supposed to help me escape my situation..."

He was still stuck on the island. But the idea of being watched by god gave him the hope he needed in order to try and escape somehow. All he wanted was to escape... but also get revenge on the silent one.
