Moon sighed as she made her way to the room Kai and his parents were being kept in. Sure she figured she had plenty of time, but she knew better than to waste time, like in a story when a hero or villain pauses before grabbing this key item and loses it to the other party because they clearly took too long for absolutely no reason. The princess finally reached the room after what felt like forever and knocked on the door, which opened pretty quickly actually. "Where's Kai?" Moon asked immediately and his mother gained a small smirk on her face, "Why do you ask princess?" She asked with a quiet, near imperceptible giggle. "I need to talk to him about something. Not that you really need to know anyways since I'm your princess." Moon stated simply. To that Kai's mother just nodded and stated. "He isn't here right now, I thought he was with you?" She stated. "No, my father sent him here to stay her until he called for him." Moon replied. "Damnit, that young dragon..." "What?" "He's probably gone to the castle town, I recommend checking there for him."
Moon sighed, suddenly feeling worry grip her heart.
On the way to where he and his parents were staying Kai had a little spring in his step. He was excited as he had been for the past few days, he was outside the den for the first time. Hell! He was in the castle of all places, and since he was free, having paid no mind to how Yamo actrd, he decided to explore, he was still young after all. He also felt like he was someone very important around here, of course he didn't really have anything to trade, but he already discovered how to use his fire so he figured he could try to perform some tricks to get stuff.
He saw someone was selling some sort of special type of fish, it was called a kunari, it was rare but yet it was one of many delicacies for a dragon, and Kai was curious as to what it tasted like, there were all kinds of things dragons would use their elements to enhance the flavor of. Whether the dragon used their elementto enhance the flavor before or after killing them boiled down to the element the dragon had, like if one had the element of fire or lightning they might cook it after catching it even though it does nothing more than enhancing the flavor. Or a psychic would use their power to mess with an animal's mind so that certain chemicals which of course wouldn't harm dragons, would be running through the animal's body before being snatched up for food.
Much like humans surprisingly, dragons like good food too. Though most preferred to eat things as they are, less work, it was more a personal preference for the one that actually did the catching. For smaller villages though, each dragon had a role, one was to hunt, another to forage, others to keep guard, and so forth, but in a place like this, any dragon could pretty much do anything so long as they followed draconic law set by the king and queen, since currency, for lack of a better word, was pretty boundless within the castle town's walls
The elders are in place to keep the king and queen in check and visa versa. And if there was something the two parties couldn't agree on, it was put to a vote, though other than that the King and Queen pretty much did as they pleased because the elders only interfered if they tried doing something outrageous, assuming they knew about it. As Kai walked lost in thought of what he'd learned over the past few days he had noticed that there were also other dragons selling all kinds of trinkets and knickknacks and the like to spruce up ones look. And then of course there were schools for young dragons who had parents who were too busy to teach them everything they needed to know. There were also guards all over the place, some inspecting merchants' wares and others patrolling.
There were homes which seemed separate from the market area and much more in this castletown, carved out of stone, marble, and draconic ice. As Kai finished exploring, he came back around and feeling rather hungry, decided to try to get his paws on that fish he saw earlier, however, there weren't many dragons around, and most of the dragons selling stuff had packed up and either left the castle grounds or gone home. He hoped the one he was looking for was still around, but before he could even begin to look, a guard stopped him, judging by the armor tbe dragon wore, it was a royal guard.
"The king has sent for you, immediately. Go to the training yard. Don't keep him waiting." They stated, directing him to the location. Kai sighed and nodded, he figured it was only a matter of time before this happened. "Thanks sir, I'm on my way." Kai replied, smiling at him as he made his way to the main castle area. He was excited to get the chance to train with a king. He wasn't walking at all, in fact he quickly flew to the designated location specified by the guard.
"I see you've made it young dragon." Yamo stated, coldly, matter of factly, his cold, hard, dead gaze settling on Kai, sending a chill through him. "Of course I did! You're the king for one! I have to do what you say! And for two! It's not every day someone get's personal training from the king, so, where do we start m'liege?!" Kai spoke, very quickly, it was clear how ready and excited he was for this, he did not waste any time.
Little did he know, he was walking right into a trap.
