Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: Won't Spare You a Glance

"Serena, do you need me to pick you up?"

"No, I'm with Ethan Grant."

Anna saw her saying she's with Ethan Grant and got more anxious: Did he do anything to you!

Serena: No, he's changing clothes!

Anna: Changing clothes?

Serena looked at the message she sent, feeling chaotic, she hurriedly typed back: No, he's in the car...

The words "changing clothes" didn't get typed out, she accidentally pressed send, and then the instant explosion from Anna in the group chat.

Taking off clothes, still in the car, the amount of information here was too much.

Without realizing it, Serena felt her cheeks burning fiercely.

"Serena, what's wrong with your face?"

Ethan Grant's voice followed from her ear, pulling back Serena's disordered thoughts, she raised her head, the man beside her was already dressed neatly, carefully wiping his fingers and the back of his hand with a wet tissue, as if something dirty had contaminated his hand.

"Nothing!"

Serena touched her burning cheeks, and the culprit was smirking coldly, as if seeing through her thoughts.

"Serena, don't have any ideas about me. About you..."

His gaze slowly examined Serena from top to bottom, his eyes fell on her lips, he paused, his eyes deepened, and his voice turned cold, "Don't worry, I won't even take a glance."

Serena smiled, she inadvertently looked down at her own legs.

No matter how beautiful her face was, the imperfections of her body were so terrible, she was most aware.

"Mr. Grant, you overthink."

She said with a smile, rolled down the car window, turned her head to look at the scenery outside the window, the smile at the corner of her mouth dimming.

Self-awareness, how could Serena not have it!

She remembered, that night four years ago, lying in his arms, dreaming about the future.

"Ethan, why don't we get the certificate first?"

She looked at him full of happiness, waiting for his response.

They had been together for five years, she had given him her heart and soul, he was the man she considered for life.

However, that night, she did not get the answer she wanted.

Because of her words, he laughed, then coldly mocked.

"We are just playing, did I ever say I wanted to marry you!"

"Serena, you really thought yourself something!"

"I'm tired of it, let's break up!"

Without any warning, he changed his face, the cold and ruthless look, Serena still remembered.

She remembered more, lying in a pool of blood, staring at the name on the phone screen, waiting for him to come save her.

Second by second passed, in the end, he didn't answer, nor did he ever show up again, just like that, he mercilessly announced her end.

The scenery of Solaria passed by Serena's eyes from the car window, she habitually wanted to smile slightly, but found her lips stiff, unable to smile.

The love given by a man was truly terrifying, when they say they love you, whatever you want, they give.

When they don't love you, you cry and beg, no matter how many times you say you love them, it's to no avail.

If she hadn't lost these legs, Serena thought, she would never learn how to write the words "give up!"

Arriving at Ethan Grant's apartment, he had Yvette Sterling drop her off and leave.

There were no steps on this side, sliding all the way over, it was straight to the elevator. While waiting for the elevator, Serena answered Anna's call.

Previously in the car, Anna had called numerous times out of concern, but with Ethan Grant beside her, she couldn't answer.
