Chapter 24 : QueenBee's Shocking Move
Axton was not giving into Silva's command.
As expected of the man known in this world as the mighty Khan.
Despite being surrounded by Silva and his gang of players, Axton showed no fear and told them to leave, even going so far as to show them how many of the items he had and making it certain that he was not going to sell them.
The players were in awe at just how many of the same items that were in Axton's possession.
They did not expect this many.
Meanwhile, the corners of Silva's eyes twitched terribly in anger at how Axton had tried to embarrass him in front of his lackeys.
"You arrogant bastard!" Silva lashed out at him.
Silva, seeing the large number of staff, knew that he had messed up.
He assumed Axton had more of that item, at best ten or fifteen of them, and hoped to use that to strengthen his guild by purchasing every single one.
He had not expected so many of them to exist and this very fact made things different now.
Silva knew he wouldn't go back to ask nicely. If anything, that would make him look stupid.
Because of that, he thought of taking them from Axton with underhanded tactics.
However, he was hesitant as there were unknown variables.
What if Axton was not alone?
What if his allies were in this mix of players?
What if Axton was far stronger than him?
Silva stepped forward, looking around him and then back at Axton.
"Do you really have other options except to take my offer?" Silva said. "As you can see, I'm your only buyer at this point."
Axton chuckled. "I'm not interested in your offer or whatever it is."
While Axton and Silva were still eating at each other, QueenBee stepped in.
"Khan," she mentioned his name. "How about giving me all of them for double the price?"
"Huh?" Silva unintentionally blurted out as he sharply turned to QueenBee, wondering if she was mad.
Axton reflexively swallowed as soon as he heard this.
He tried to play it cool but QueenBee's offer was a lot to hold him but Axton also understood that he needed to keep his calm and composure.
Acting like he was moved by the monetary offer will definitely ruin the reputation he had built for himself.
This lady was willing to buy the remaining ninety-eight staff at $10,000.
That was almost a million dollars.
Just how rich was she in real life?
"That's good."
Axton, of course, agreed immediately without any more questions.
He didn't want to miss a golden opportunity that suddenly presented itself to him.
Without wasting any time, the transaction took place.
QueenBee received the rest of the staff and Axton received a notification of a credit alert worth, $980,000
He had not spent even a few days playing this game and he was almost a millionaire, something he couldn't even dream of ever achieving.
It looked easy!
"Thank you for banking with us," Axton lightly joked, cheering his biggest client up.
QueenBee bobbed her head a few times as her eyes radiated with a babyish glow. "I will."
While the two were being cheesy with each other, Silva was boiling inside of him.
Did he want to fight?
Even if he did, he couldn't.
Players dared not to attack each other while inside the novice village.
That was the one law that couldn't be broken.
Otherwise, Silva might have pounced on Axton like a ferocious beast.
'The nerve of this bastard…'
Silva shifted his gaze to QueenBee, who also rightly returned it with a meaner glare of her own.
"What are you looking at?" QueenBee snapped at him sharply.
"..."
Silva was speechless.
QueenBee hissed and walked away.
"Alright, guys," Axton said, raising a palm in the air. "That's it for now. See ya."
Having acquired almost a million dollars, Axton immediately went offline to avoid any further problems that may even lead to him losing the money.
Seeing that QueenBee and Axton were no longer on the scene, the other members of Grand Nexus began massaging Silva's ego.
"Those two cowards have run with their tails between their legs."
"Of course, they can't beat Silva if it boils to it."
"They are afraid of you, man."
Silva's head was placed back in the clouds.
Listening to their praises, he believed that he had lost face with his men.
"Watch him," he instructed one of them. "Once you find Khan, inform the guild."
"Okay."
Silva then turned away and left with the rest.
Bad blood was now formed between Silva, and in extension, the Grand Nexus guild and Axton, the man known as Khan.
******
Spectating players did not expect that Axton would be so cold in how he handled things with Silva of Grand Nexus, considering the reputation of the Grand Nexus guild as it regards the gaming world in general.
Even before the existence of New Eden, the Grand Nexus guild existed as a group that always allied with each other in other games.
It almost felt like they were a cult.
They feared for Axton's safety.
But was Axton scared of Silva and the group he represented?
Certainly not!
Axton arrived at a cafe.
While this cafe was not expensive, it was far from what Axton could ordinarily afford.
However, things were different now.
He was almost a millionaire!
He could have whatever he wanted to eat and not bother about his next meal or going broke.
There was no longer any need to ration his money so tightly that it felt like he was being stingy to himself.
"Gimme your best coffee," Axton ordered with a smile on his face.
He inhaled and exhaled as he waited for his order, enjoying the feeling of being able to effortlessly afford what he wanted.
He waited for some minutes and soon his coffee was finely packaged and handed to him.
Axton paid with his card and even tipped a percentage to the staff that served him before he left.
"Have a great day, sir," the staff wished him cheerfully.
Axton looked at him and nodded his head along with a smile.
******
A few minutes later…
Axton sat across a bench in the open, allowing the gentle breeze to blow over his face.
He inhaled deeply and exhaled as he opened the coffee cup.
"So this is what these rich guys enjoy," he commented and shook his head as he savoured the fragrance that slipped into his nostrils.
Axton admired the coffee for several seconds, since he had never had one himself.
*Sip*
He took a large sip, as if wanted to enjoy everything that came with the coffee in one go.
After a few seconds, Axton suddenly spat it out.
"This is horrible!"
