Chapter 28 - Chapter 28 : Hidden Profession (2)

Chapter 28 : Hidden Profession (2)

When he had slain the Verdant Rock Serpent, which was a grade 3 beast, Axton received the grade 1 shadow blade.

It was all thanks to his 100x critical hit privilege that the item was upgraded to what he had now — the Aura Sword.

That privilege was basically his good luck charm and he barely worried about the kind of rewards or drops he received.

Having compared the profile of the [Cat skin armour] and the [Shock Plate], Axton made a decision that was clear from the beginning.

[Cat skin armour]

Grade : 1

Level : 5

Perks : +25 defense

Limits : Requires at least level 5 Warrior class to use

Axton was not impressed since he was used to so much more.

The story would have been different if it was any of the other players who received the [Cat skin armour].

It was most likely going to be better than whatever they had at hand.

The critical hit privilege did both quality and quantity upgrade, following which Axton would go for quantity upgrade for items he couldn't use.

He did this so he could sell them for some coins.

The items he needed were clearly chosen from the quality upgrade feature.

[Shock plate]

Grade : 4

Level : 5

Perks : +50 defense

Skill : [Shock Blast]

Limits : Requires level 5 Warrior class to use

[Skill : Shock Blast]

Grade : 4-star (Level 1)

Description : Reflect the shock absorbed from an attack back to your opponent. Stats related to Shock Blast used cumulative stats of your defense and attack. (Cool down : 10 minutes)

Note : Your range starts from a 2m radius, increasing by one metre with every level up till level 15.

Drawbacks : Takes 20 mana points to use

"Sweet!"

Axton loved what eh was ready.

A defense item that could also be used to attack. What more could he ask for?

Axton quickly swapped out his old armour and wore the shock plate as his default defensive gear.

He levelled up the skill immediately.

*Ding*

[-1000 Exp]

[Shock Blast : levelled up!]

Axton massaged his chin, considering the rest of the thing he needed to level up.

"I'm yet to level up both flash sword and flash step," he muttered to himself. "That would have to wait for now anyway."

Axton then proceeded to check out the quest and hidden class scrolls that he had gotten as reward options.

Opening it, a ding rang out, triggering a drop down description.

[Quest Scroll]

Mission : Find the village chief and hand the scroll over to him.

Reward : Barbarian class quest

Axton read a bit further.

'Barbarian class?' he thought. 'A special class for warrior class players.'

Being a special class, it meant that barbarians were stronger than the ordinary warrior class players.

Axton could choose one of these scrolls and become a barbarian, only to sell off the remaining 99 scrolls to other players who would be in need of them at a high price since it was a treasure for warriors.

Moreover, he had already meant with the village chief, all thanks to his reputation that precedes him.

Axton smiled and nodded proudly at himself.

[Hidden Class Scroll]

Mission : Locate the village chief and hand him the scroll. To activate the hidden class quest, say the words "from darkness to light".

Reward : Berserker class quest

Clearly, Axton was not going to miss an opportunity of awakening a special class that he did not even know existed.

"From darkness to light," he repeated the words he was given as a trigger to the quest. "Sounds like I'm being initiated into some cult."

Axton chuckled.

It gave him a weird crawl but there was nothing he could do about it other than to comply.

Immediately, he readied himself to return to the village.

On a second thought, he recalled that there were a group of players who were on his tail earlier on, whom he had to shake off with his superior agility stat.

"Those guys…" he muttered, "I wonder what their deal is."

The fact that there were people tracking him did not change his mind.

Acquiring this new [Berserker] class was his priority and so, he needed to return to the village, no matter what.

*Swoosh*

Axton sped off, blasting through like a speed car.

******

A few minutes later.

The tracker player among the Grand Nexus members was still focused and meditating, trying to catch a wind of Axton who had escaped his range of detection.

They decided to wait since he would still take the same route back to the village.

So, even if he escaped them earlier, they could still catch him now.

The corners of his eyes twitched.

"He's coming," he sharply notified the rest as they quickly prepared themselves to encounter the great Axton.

Many had their fears and doubts about this encounter but their confidence grew.

Why was that?

Their branch leader, Silva, was standing right there with him.

He stood confidently with a stern face and his arms crossed over his chest as he stared forward in the direction Axton was supposed to come from.

'Time for you to pay…'

Grand Nexus had manpower and numbers.

This was simply because of a feature that New Eden allowed.

The game made it open for friends and guilds who have relationships and alliances from playing other real world games to be able to continue that here.

This was basically the reason why guilds were quickly formed since a lot of people knew or must have played with each other in one game or the other.

Moreover, Grand Nexus was somewhat popular as a gaming group in the real world.

Standing with Silva was a group of about a hundred players or a little above it, waiting for Axton's arrival.

He had been contacted by his guild members the moment they found Axton and so he regrouped with the others, bringing reinforcement with him.

It only took a few more minutes before their expected target to land in front of them.

*Thud*

Axton landed in a crouched stance before standing and looking around.

He was just outside of the demonic jungle and now he had to deal with this many players.

"What's this?" he asked calmly.

Silva grinned and snapped at him. "You are about to die!"

And so, the inevitable clash between Axton and Silva was about to begin.
