Chapter 27 : Hidden Profession (1)
Given the mechanism of action for [Battle God], these clowder of demon cats were no match for Axton.
He was supreme in their battle.
*Swoosh*
His Flash Sword cut through them like a hot knife through butter as he gained experience points with each kill, racking in about 400 points of those.
Along with the experience points were copper coins and some 4-star and 5-star recovery potions which he needed.
*Ding*
[You've earned 400 Exp!]
[You've earned 500 copper coins!]
[100x critical hit initiated!]
[+40000 Exp]
[+50000 copper coins (500 silver coins)]
Even down to the healing potions he had, their numbers skyrocketed as he would have expected from his bonus privilege.
Without wasting any time, Axton invested the experience points into levelling up his dragon beast.
Notifications rang out endlessly with information that made him satisfied appearing one after the other.
He had summoned the beast into visibility and with every upgrade, Axton saw the little dragon grow and transform into a large, more domineering monster for him to ride.
*Ding*
[Beast companions cannot exceed their master's level]
The beast had reached level 6, same as Axton and suddenly maxed out.
Regardless, Axton did not worry about this limitation because it did not deter his progress.
He recalled that the attributes of his dragon could be his and immediately, Axton checked his status and his jaw hit the floor in shock.
"W-What… the…"
…
[Status]
Name : Khan
Class : Warrior
Level : 6
Attack : 146
Defense : 360
Agility : 80
HP : 500/500
Mana : 210/210
…
Axton felt a sudden rush of energy swell up from inside his body.
He did not level himself up and yet what he felt was even greater than anything he was used to during the time he experienced a growth in levels.
"So much power…" he muttered with profound amazement.
Even his worries about mana were sorted out thanks to his beast and not to even talk about his defense and health points that went up to the skies, showing the type of beast his dragon was.
Beasts were naturally stronger than humans of the same level and so such was expected.
There were still some experience points left and so he invested those into some of his skills.
[Skill : Pierce]
[Levelled up!]
[Maxed out!]
Instantly, the effectiveness of his [Pierce] skill shot up from 10% to 20%.
He moved to the next skill on his list to upgrade.
[Skill : Aura Sword Summon]
[Levelled up!]
[Maxed out!]
Just like what happened with the [Pierce] skill, the length of his Aura Sword Summon increased as well, by about four times what it was.
[Aura Sword Summon]
[50m —> 200m]
Axton felt on top of the world at this moment.
He felt invincible!
There were still some skills left to level up but he was not in a hurry to do that since those skills were of lesser ranks than the two he upgraded.
Axton was betting on the possibility that he would get better skills as he progressed in the game.
As he was still basking in his unnatural growth, he was hit suddenly by a wave of dark energy that took him by surprise, sending him a few metres backwards.
"Tch!"
He managed to look ahead, only to see a giant black cat snarling at him.
[You've been hit by a skill attack]
[Skill : Dark Meow]
[You will be unable to move for the next 10 seconds]
'Shit!'
In that instant, Axton felt his posture wobble as he dropped with his knees to the floor.
This spelt danger for him.
******
The giant black cat roared out of nowhere, sending paralyzing waves of dark energy through the air that caught Axton by surprise.
This demon cat was bigger than the rest and so it was no rocket science to Axton that it was the leader of the pack.
The demon cat leaped down from where it stood, placing itself at a reasonable distance from Axton.
…
[Demon Black Cat]
Grade : 1
Level : 6
Attack: 51
Defense : 45
HP : 94/94
Skills : [Cat Rush] [Dark Meow] [Beast Raging]
…
Axton was pinned to the spot, unable to easily shake off the effect of the [Dark Meow].
Noting this, the black cat boss monster used its [Cat Rush] skill to cover grounds and attack the player.
Axton couldn't do anything and so was unable to activate his skills to escape or react to the speed of the incoming monster.
However, he was not flustered.
A great shadow emerged from behind him, stretching to cover both his figure and that of the black cat.
The boss monster halted in its track, its sharp golden eyes dilating from the shock of seeing another beast so big.
It was Axton's dragon.
The draconic beast used [Dragon's Roar] making everywhere to almost thunder as the sound of its aggression even superseded that of the black cat, dispelling the effects of [Dark Meow].
The black cat received a taste of its own medicine as it was now the one unable to move for the next set of seconds.
With the hostile beast pinned to one place by [Dragon's Roar], Axton then summoned his Aura Sword.
*Swoosh*
In one attack, he cut down the monster.
-94 HP!
[You have defeated a Demon Black Cat]
[+5 Exp]
[+1 Cat Skin Armour (Grade 1)]
[+1 Quest Scroll]
*Ding*
[100x critical hit initiated!]
Axton's five experience points increased to 509 experience points.
The cat skin armour manifested two options for him to choose.
[100 Cat Skin Armour (Grade 1)]
OR
[1 Shock Plate (Grade 4)]
He had gotten yet another grade 4 item!
He quickly selected the shock plate as the item of choice since it was more beneficial to him than 100 pieces of cat skin armour.
More options dropped down.
[100 Quest Scrolls]
OR
[1 Hidden Profession Scroll]
'Hidden profession scroll?' he thought to himself.
In addition to a grade 4 item, he received another one that could trigger a hidden profession quest.
Axton's mind warped as he thought of the possibilities that were within his reach with this sort of reward.
