Chapter 114 - Chapter 116: The Jedi Holocron

Without the interference of the signal jammer, Amir contacted Obi-Wan directly.

The call was answered quickly. It was morning in Mos Eisley, and the twin suns had just peeked above the golden horizon.

"Amir? I didn't expect you to be able to contact me. Does this mean your problem is solved?" Obi-Wan asked.

"It's solved, Master. I've arrived on Tatooine."

"Good. I happen to be in Mos Eisley. I'll wait for you at the spaceport."

"Who is he?" Milisen asked curiously.

"He's my master, Obi-Wan."

"Oh, Amir's master! He must be a very nice person!"

"Of course," Amir said with a smile.

He landed the ship at the port with practiced ease. Upon opening the hatch, Amir saw Obi-Wan leaning against a wall, waiting in the shadows.

"I'm glad to see you've returned safely. And these two are?" Obi-Wan asked.

"My name is Milisen!" Milisen answered enthusiastically.

32, who had donned a black robe, began to struggle to formulate his name.

"This is 32. They were both in the lab where I was captured," Amir explained.

"They..." Obi-Wan hesitated, clearly sensing the lingering taint of the dark side on them.

"It's a long story. Let's find a place to eat first. I'm very tired. I need to rest for a bit after eating."

"Follow me. I know where Kaiyin is."

The three of them, accompanied by BD-4, entered a secluded cantina. It was much quieter here than the usual haunts. Although the environment was still dusty, it was significantly cleaner.

Kaiyin was sitting at the bar, talking to someone. When he saw Amir's group, he was pleasantly surprised and stood up immediately.

"Long time no see," Amir greeted him, his voice heavy with exhaustion.

The group moved to a corner of the cantina, and Amir recounted what had happened.

"That's... too bizarre," Kaiyin said in disbelief. He had met Amir when he joined the academy. Although he had always sensed Amir was a genius, he could never have imagined something like this.

"It seems the Empire is even darker than I thought. To have a research lab of this scale, and..." Obi-Wan said, a note of deep sadness in his voice.

"There are many other Force-sensitive children who were captured. I'm going to join Ahsoka and the others to go to the main experimental base and rescue them," Amir stated.

"I can go with you," Obi-Wan offered.

"Really?" Amir asked, delighted.

With Obi-Wan along, this operation would be much more secure. The current Obi-Wan was at the peak of his combat power in the galaxy. As long as the Sith Emperor didn't show up personally, he was basically unbeatable in a one-on-one duel.

"Of course," Obi-Wan smiled. "I also want to do something for these children. But we must still learn to hide. The Empire's strength is far greater than you imagine."

Amir nodded. He had never underestimated the Empire. Until he could crush a Star Destroyer with his bare hands, he wouldn't be confident enough to openly resist the Imperial army.

Kaiyin, recovering from the massive influx of information, spoke up. "By the way, I haven't found any news about Hondo Ohnaka, the man you asked me to look for. He seems to have disappeared recently. Even some bounty hunters who know him well can't contact him."

"I know that man," Obi-Wan interjected. "When the Jedi Order was still around, I dealt with him a few times. He used to be a pirate leader, quite famous. Heh, and a cunning old fox."

"After the Empire was established and began to wipe out pirates, he was forced out of business. He got into smuggling and also worked as a bounty hunter," Kaiyin said, sharing the intel he had gathered.

"Alright. But sooner or later, I'll settle the score for him screwing me over." Amir yawned. Milisen was also getting sleepy.

"You two go rest first. Tonight, I'll tell you about the ruins," Obi-Wan said.

The message Obi-Wan had sent him previously concerned the ruins. Although Amir already had some theories, his master likely possessed more concrete information.

They walked back to the Traveler. Leaving 32 in the main hall to study, Amir and Milisen went to their respective bedrooms.

Feeling his familiar bed beneath him, with no imminent threats looming, Amir's heart relaxed, and he slept exceptionally peacefully.

He slept until the evening.

Giving a comfortable stretch, Amir walked out of the bedroom. He found Milisen and 32 studying a Dejarik board. BD-4 was watching from the side as the various holographic monsters battled.

Unable to bear watching their clumsy moves, Amir went into the kitchen to get something to eat.

"Amir~" Milisen looked at Amir resentfully as he emerged.

"Ah? Oh, the game consoles. Sorry, I forgot. Next time, for sure." Amir suddenly remembered his promise.

He stretched out his hand. The cup of water on the table floated steadily into his grasp. Taking a sip, Amir walked to the cockpit.

He started the ship. Target: Obi-Wan's hut.

It was already evening. Obi-Wan and Kaiyin should be back by now.

Soon, the Traveler landed in the usual spot. Unsurprisingly, Kaiyin's TIE fighter was also parked there.

"Wow, it's all sand! So fun!" Milisen jumped out excitedly, but sand quickly got into her shoes, instantly extinguishing her enthusiasm.

Amir led the two, crunching across the sand toward Obi-Wan's hut. Before they even arrived, they saw Obi-Wan meditating on the platform by the door. Kaiyin was beside him, learning with a decent imitation.

Sensing Amir approaching, both opened their eyes. Obi-Wan stood up and picked up a holocron from his side.

"This is a Jedi Holocron." Obi-Wan looked at the cube in his hand and activated it with the Force. "I have a memory crystal here, which can be displayed using the Jedi Holocron. The content inside is about history. It might have the knowledge you want about the ruins."

Amir took the Jedi Holocron. It looked identical to the one he had given Ahsoka.

"This is a Jedi Holocron. Unlike ordinary holocrons, it is crafted by Jedi Masters using a unique method. Only Force-sensitives can use it. It is rare, and also very precious. It contains not just the content from my memory crystal; through it, you can also sense other knowledge of the light side. Don't lose it."

"Mm. I won't lose it." Amir studied this valuable gift and quickly activated it.

The square holocron broke apart into eight smaller corners, floating and rotating around the central core. A crystal was inserted into the side—that must be the memory crystal Obi-Wan mentioned.

The holocron fully activated, projecting the image of a small green creature.

It was Master Yoda. Without any unnecessary chatter, Master Yoda began his lecture on thousands of years of galactic history.
