Chapter 113 - Chapter 115: The End and the First Mate

Not the Force, Amir reminded himself. This ability is biological; it shouldn't have much to do with the Force.

Although it wasn't related to the Force, Amir felt he could use the Force to assist his perception.

"Looking" at his own brain, Amir searched everywhere but found nothing.

At this moment, 32 touched Amir's body, interrupting his sensing process. Amir looked at 32.

"No," 32 said. Just a single, simple word.

No what? Amir didn't understand his meaning for a moment. That's not how you do it? I can't close my eyes?

Seeing Amir's confused gaze, 32 extended his mechanical right hand. BD-4, who was watching from the side, slowly floated into the air.

"I shouldn't use the Force?" Amir guessed again.

Finally, 32 nodded.

Receiving a positive answer, Amir stopped trying to connect to the Force. Instead, he tried to use his own body to sense his brain directly.

But Amir had no idea how to do it. The "vision" provided by the Force was completely different from his normal senses. Aside from nearly crossing his eyes, Amir discovered nothing.

Just then, 32 placed his cold palm on Amir's forehead. That inexplicable flow of information once again poured into Amir's brain. Amir suddenly "saw" something in his current state that he couldn't normally perceive.

The information from 32 disappeared, but Amir had already captured the state. It was as if a deaf person had suddenly regained their hearing. Amir sensed a cacophony of abnormal noise; the surroundings were filled with chaotic, jumbled "sounds."

In that moment, Amir finally isolated one of these "sounds" emitting from his own brain as the source, radiating outward. Although it wasn't as "loud" as 32's active broadcast, it was continuous. 32's body, notably, did not have this continuous signal.

Unsurprisingly, these were all electromagnetic waves scattered throughout the universe.

Once the essence of a thing is discovered, the mystery ceases to exist. He tried to rein in the waves he was emitting and easily retracted them.

He hadn't expected it to be so simple. Amir opened his eyes and smiled helplessly.

The trouble that had plagued him for so long could be solved so easily. But without 32's guidance, he might have died without ever knowing he had this ability.

It seemed he didn't need to play hide-and-seek with a Purrgil. However, he still had to deal with that experimental base.

"What do you want to do next?" Amir asked. 32's body was now healed, and he was free. It was time to think about where to go. Amir had finished what he needed to do on the Eternal Ark, and it was time to set off.

Looking at 32's lost eyes, Amir said, "Then follow me for now."

"We're leaving, Kahalman." Amir stood up and walked to Kahalman's rest room.

Finding no response, Amir opened the door and saw Kahalman, who had been so energetic just moments before, already slumped over the table, asleep.

Euphemia walked over. "Don't worry about him. I'll see you off. The invading forces have been mostly cleared out, but you should still leave as soon as possible. We will be taking action soon to make those who dared to challenge us pay the price."

"Okay." Without waking Kahalman, Amir led the group toward the port.

"If you run into any trouble you can't solve, you can find me," Amir said. Doctor Kahalman had helped him a lot this time. Whether out of gratitude or as a friend, Amir was willing to help them if a crisis arose.

The huge space station was no longer as lively as before. They walked through the relatively deserted streets to the docking bay. The Traveler was there waiting for them.

Amir felt completely at ease. This trip was truly worthwhile. His biggest problem had been solved. Next came his counter-attack.

After saying goodbye to Euphemia, the group boarded the ship and flew out of the shield.

32 sat in the co-pilot's seat, blankly watching Amir skillfully operate the control panel.

"You need to learn to speak first, 32. Of course, let's pick a name first. This is a new life. No more numbers," Amir said.

Hearing Amir's words, 32's eyes brightened a little.

Picking a name? Milisen, sitting in the back, perked up.

"Me! Me! I want to pick a name!" Milisen volunteered.

Both looked at Milisen, as if waiting for her to speak.

"Um... let me think. When Cyan named us, there was... Jessica! How about Jessica?"

"That's a girl's name, Milisen," Amir couldn't help but laugh.

"Nnngh~" Milisen wrinkled her small brow. "How can that be? I really like that name! Of course, I like Milisen more!"

At this, 32 waved his hand. After brewing the thought for a moment, he said, "32 is fine."

Amir and Milisen both stopped and looked at him. Despite enduring so many years of suffering, his eyes were still clear.

"Alright. It's convenient. We'll call you 32," Amir said. Since 32 had decided, they would use that.

"Good. Since you're sitting in the co-pilot's seat, besides learning to speak, you need to start learning to fly the ship. From now on, you're my First Mate!" Amir said happily.

Who wouldn't want a cool cyborg as their First Mate? Besides, 32 was his clone. One could say that, with only a brain left of his original self, he was the closest blood relative Amir had. Amir felt a natural affection for him.

"Mm!" 32 nodded seriously and continued to look at the data Amir had given him.

"What about me? What about me? I want to be First Mate, too!" Milisen became anxious. How could a newcomer just show up and take her position as second-in-command! She was here first!

"You can be the Chief of Internal Affairs," Amir said after a thought.

"Okay!" That sounded like a high-ranking official. Milisen quickly agreed. "So what's my job?"

"Let's start with mopping the floor."

"No!!!" Milisen, realizing what that meant, cried out in anguish.

A smile inadvertently appeared on 32's lips.

Amir saw this and smiled as well. The model Kahalman had installed for 32 was the latest; it could even make facial expressions.

Good thing Euphemia doesn't know.

Although, she probably wouldn't care even if she did.

The Traveler entered hyperspace, traversing the familiar lane. When it emerged again, it had arrived at a tan-colored planet.

"Where is this?" Milisen, who had just fallen asleep, was woken by the sound. She undid her seatbelt and ran to Amir's side, looking outside.

"Tatooine."
