This is another Minami POV chapter, so enjoy!
Minami got out of bed. She hadn't been able to sleep all night; her thoughts were all over the place.
She walked to the mirror, only to see her depressed self; her eyes were bloodshot from crying, there were bags under her eyes, and her form slumped forward like a hunchback.
She changed her clothes to her school outfit, her movements slow and lazy.
She walked past her mother, not saying a word, not even stopping for breakfast. Her mother looked at her with concern, while her father didn't even notice.
She went to school, this time. Instead of flying, she slightly levitated off the ground. When she arrived, she saw them, BOTH of them, Ethan and Selene.
She looked at both of them, Ethan hugging Selene's arm like a pillow; he was clingy. She never knew that he was clingy. She decided to read his thoughts out of curiosity and resentment.
Ethan's thoughts: "Last night's date was awesome… Too bad I wasn't able to get my first kiss… Selene's nice and kind, she's also smart and knows a lot about memes and nerdy stuff. I like her, I bet Minami will like her too. Haha!"
Minami's rage was fueled even more by the fact that they had already started dating. She felt her blood boiling; she wanted to punch and gut Selene, but she couldn't because if she did, Ethan would hate her…
Minami decided to secretly follow them; her presence was one with the other students in the hallways. It was a flawless plan. But the more she followed them, the more she felt like she was being obsessive.
So she went to her class, a few minutes later, Ethan arrived, she looked at him, he didn't notice how she didn't bother to hide the fact that she was crying all night, but Ethan didn't notice, he just kept rambling on and on about Selene…
The more she heard him talk, the more grief and jealousy she felt; she's right here… It's like he doesn't notice her, like she was an AI designed to listen to him rambling.
At lunch, she could only stare at Ethan and Selene as both of them acted like lovers, Ethan clinging to Selene, while Selene laughed and flirted with him.
She didn't bother to eat today, nor hang out with her friends; she wanted Ethan… The thing that was out of her reach…
She decided to let go… To disappear, that would be better…RIGHT??… that way she can stay out of Ethan's relationship and also stop feeling jealous… RIGHT?!
She decided to leave one last message, a resignation message to Ethan… But instead of writing. She used telepathy.
Minami to Ethan's thoughts: "Hey… Before you say anything, no, I won't respond to you, this is my final message to you… You are an amazing person… No, amazing is an understatement, but… Like I was saying, this whole time, I always wanted to say… I LOVE YOU… But it seems that another woman has reached you before me, so… I will disappear… Maybe I was never meant to be in this story to begin with… Like a mistake that was supposed to be removed… I want you to be with me… but it seems you are happier with Selene. I love you, so as long as you're happy, I'm happy… so goodbye Ethan, I hope you live your dream life…"
She turned invisible, at least making everyone ignore her, so that no one would be able to interact with her, and that way she could stay out of the story…
She walked away, into the crowd of students, and disappeared like she had said.
Meanwhile, Ethan had received the message, and he looked around, looking for Minami. But she was nowhere to be found.
He let go of Selene's arm, disappearing as he traveled through the halls in his superspeed, looking for Minami. He had always felt like she was interested in him, but he never knew that she LOVED him romantically…
Ethan decided to rest and sit on a bench before feeling a familiar presence, a familiar brainwave sensation. He looked in the direction from which it seemed to come; it was from the bench.
Ethan: "Minami?"
He wasn't able to see her; she wasn't invisible, she just used her powers to MAKE people's brains cut her out of their view.
Minami didn't expect him to find her already. She thought that he would have to look for her for a few days before he found her. To her, it's like he stopped time to spend all this time to look for her, for anything REMOTELY close to finding her, and he did…
Minami: "H-how did you find me?"
Sniffles can be heard as she wipes her tears. Ethan couldn't see her tears, but he heard them… FELT them from her voice and sniffles, he was emotionally intelligent, but not romantically.
Ethan: "What do you mean by HOW? I just used my powers to find you."
Minami: "You shouldn't waste your time on me, I am just a waste of space and oxygen, a mistake…"
Ethan: "Yeah? And? Who's gonna stop me? The writer? HA! Like he can do that, he added you for a reason, you know."
Minami stopped the invisibility, showing herself to Ethan. She got up and hugged him, tighter than she ever did to anyone, and she burst into tears on his shoulder.
Ethan was surprised but smiled. He hugged her back, feeling her love… The warm sensation of hugging, the satisfying sensation of being loved, it was the complete opposite of Selene's love.
He got it now, understanding what love truly is… He understood the contrast between Minami's and Selene's love. One was REAL, the other was FAKE. He felt empty when he "loved" Selene, but now, he feels full, like a void had been filled.
Selene pushed him away, Minami pulled him in… Two opposites. Selene rushed in, panting as she finally caught up to Ethan. She looked at the sight, her eyes widened, she clenched her fists, and yelled at the top of her lungs.
Selene: "YOU CHEATER! YOU DARE CHEAT ON ME! I GAVE YOU MY TIME, MY ATTENTION, AND THIS IS HOW YOU TREAT ME???"
Ethan was startled, and so was Minami; both of them pushed off the other, staring at Selene.
Ethan: "Well… I…"
Ethan had a guilty smile before he looked down in shame…
Minami: "No… Not anymore, I won't stand around as you take him away… OK?! I GOT TO HIM FIRST! SO LEAVE HIM ALONE! AND GIVE HIM BACK!"
Selene: "You know what!? Fine! Take him, he's a weirdo anyway! All he wants is to kiss and hug and cuddle and all that kind of disgusting stuff. I wanted to have him as my soldier!"
Minami gasped, Ethan stared in disbelief… Selene had revealed her true intentions…
Selene: "I can get other powerful toys to play with… so you have him, he's too nerdy anyway, too much of an idiot for my tastes."
Ethan's eyes filled with tears, he held his right arm at Selene, HE TRUSTED HER… How could she?… He used his power to drain the power out of Selene, the rage inside of him coming out, wanting revenge.
He drained her until she could barely get up and walk. She tried to run away but tripped and fell.
Minami pulled on his arm, her eyes filled with a certain tone he had never seen or noticed, romantic affection, that calmed him down enough to stop hurting Selene. He put his hand down and sighed before Selene crawled away.
He stared back at Minami, both of them meeting each other's gaze…
