Ethan had been holding on to the egg for the whole day; he even brought it to school, and when he arrived, he walked to class. There were some stares, but Ethan grew used to them.
He walked into class, putting the egg on his desk. Minami had been sitting at her desk beside him, so she looked at Ethan and smiled, before looking at the egg, and her face turned to a confused expression.
Minami: "Seems like you found a magical goose."
Ethan: "No… This is an alien, I'm not joking, for the first time."
Minami sighed, placing a hand over her forehead. Her expression was one of resignation.
Minami: "I date you for a couple of days, and you go get an alien child?"
Ethan: "Yeah, well, it's not like I was asked to do this, I was ordered to by some alien."
Minami: "What next? It's going to rain cheese?"
Ethan looked at her with a deadpan stare, his face cold and stoic. Minami's expression immediately changed into a shocked one.
Minami: "YOU MET AN ALIEN?!!"
Ethan: "Well, yeah, how else would I get this giant egg?"
Minami touched it, its nearly rough surface felt like a normal egg, but it was golden, but gold is too malleable, it should be something stronger, but LOOKS like gold.Ethan lifted the egg with one hand and then tried to put it in Minami's hands, but Minami barely held it; she could barely lift it. Then he remembered she isn't as strong as him.
So he took it off her hands and put it back onto the desk. He sat down, his face contemplating what to do next.
Minami: "So you are stuck with an alien egg?"
Ethan: "WE!… I'm not going to be a parent to a solar system destroyer."
Minami: "What do you mean WE?! I won't touch that disgusting thing when it hat- Wait, did you just say solar system destroying?!"
Ethan nodded casually, his face screamed "I know how you are feeling", he patted the egg before putting it under the desk because the teacher would arrive at any moment, and Minami was frozen in time, her face shocked.At lunch, the egg was on the table, chilling, as people rushed in to sit next to sit next to him, since he is now known as the first hero to defeat a planetary threat, but luckily, Minami had caught herself a place next to Ethan, her face still shocked, just less than before.
Minami: "Why are you dragging me into this??"
Ethan: "What do you mean by why? I get annoyed easily by children, so I'm sure that just me would be a bad choice!"
Minami sighed once more, her face now going back to normal, then she tried to imagine what it would be like to have an alien child.
It was freaky, alien tentacles with three eyes, orange skin, and sharp teeth. She imagined what it would be like to feed it or change its diaper; the thought made her shiver from disgust.
Ethan noticed it and chuckled. He could tell that it would be a nightmare, but what if it was like that alien that gave him the egg?
Ethan: "What if it was cute or beautiful? or full of fur?"
Minami: "Okay, fine, but I am not paying anything!"
In gym class, Ethan put the egg down at one of the stands, and he put a barrier around it to make sure it was safe.
It was a marathon, so it wasn't much of a problem for him, at least. Every year, they hold a marathon for both girls and boys; right now, it was the boys.
Gym teacher: "Boys! Get ready! NOW!"
Immediately, every boy went into position, each boy in a lane, the teacher whistled using his whistle, and immediately the boys began running. Ethan stayed behind, just casually standing.
Ethan: "5… 4… 3… 2… 1…"
As Ethan's countdown hit zero, time slowed to almost a stop. It was a power he could activate, not just an ability that turned on subconsciously. Ethan began walking casually, passing the nerds, the average joes, the jocks, even the popular guy whom every girl cheers for.
If we make time go normally, it would seem like Ethan is decimating the competition. He was so fast that he seemed to be still, but people felt it, heard it… the air flying around, the swooshes.
Then it stopped. Ethan was sitting on the floor at the finish line. He yawned, everyone stopped running and looked at Ethan, so did the girls, they stopped cheering and stared at him as he was lying on the ground.The boys continued running, but with way less motivation. The popular guy went last, and Ethan got up and stretched. He walked to the egg, grabbed it, and the popular guy came in, sitting where the egg used to be.
Popular guy: "Hey, nerd, just because you defeated a threat that is big doesn't mean you are a god, just keep that in mind."
Ethan: "Just because you have the looks doesn't mean you have the personality. You are so narcissistic that your mirror says that you are a weirdo for staring."
The popular guy got angry, immediately trying to punch Ethan, but Ethan took a step back and dodged it effortlessly, then an idea sparked through the popular guy. He punched the egg, but instead of cracking it broke his hand.
Ethan: "Karma!"
Ethan yelled as he walked away. He had a smirk on his face. He was relieved that it didn't break, but he knew that if it survived falling through the atmosphere with that alien, then a simple punch wouldn't break it.
Later, after school, Ethan met up with Minami at a park. Ethan was waiting, the egg next to him. Minami floated down.
Minami: "What know?"
Ethan: "Well, just wanted to hang out."
Minami immediately smiled and giggled, sitting down on the opposite side of the egg.
Little do they know that small knocking sounds came from inside the egg…
