The Confrontation
It took two days to track her.
Ijeoma worked at a consulting firm in Maitama. Favour showed up without warning, waiting in the lobby. When Ijeoma emerged, her expression froze but only for a second.
"Well, well, we'll," she said. "You finally grew a spine."
Favour stepped forward. "Are you the one sending me those messages?"
Ijeoma's smile didn't falter. "What messages?"
Favour pulled out her phone. "Don't play games with me, if you have something to say, say it."
Ijeoma's eyes darkened. "You want honesty? Fine. I think you're a fraud, and i think Daniel deserves better."
"That's not your decision."
"No, but I was almost his wife once, Remember. I know what he needs, and he is not someone who pretends to be who he's not."
Favour's voice cracked. "I never claimed to be perfect, i made mistakes yes, but I'm changing."
Ijeoma stepped closer, almost nose to nose. "Too little. Too late."
Then she turned and walked away.
Favour stood there, breath shaking confused, angry… but more than anything, afraid that Ijeoma was right.
