Landing in Love
New York was everything Favour had imagined and more, Loud, fast, alive. Her class was filled with international students, but one person stood out a quiet, intelligent man with piercing eyes and a kind voice.
Daniel Okonkwo.
Their first conversation was about jollof rice.
"Do you cook?" he asked casually one evening after class.
Favour hesitated. "I… try."
Daniel chuckled. "That means no."
She laughed too, dodging the question.
What started as group study sessions turned into long walks, shared coffee breaks, and eventually, private dinners where Favour would order takeout and pretend it was homemade.
She'd learned the game, she knew how to cover her tracks. Love was about chemistry, not cooking right? She said.
But Daniel wasn't like the others, he had a plan, he was weeks away from completing his PhD, and he wasn't dating for fun he was looking for a wife.
And Favour? She was ready to play the part… even if it meant living a lie.
