When the three woke up, Emma began the conversation.
"How many cores do you have?"
David looked at her. "Three."
"I see. We have seven in total — we still need two more."
Nodding, they set off. Walking through the forest, Emma stayed beside Lucy, holding her hand.
David walked ahead. After about ten minutes, they stumbled into an open clearing.
Reaching the center, they started looking around.
"Emma, something feels strange here… like someone's watching us."
David glanced at her. "Yeah, I feel it too."
Suddenly, Lucy noticed something.
"Guys, we should get out of here — and fast."
The two of them looked at her at the same time. "Why?"
Dark clouds covered the sky, hiding the sun.
"Damn it — run!" David shouted.
But it was already too late. The plants, as if waiting for this moment, began to move.
And the rain kept pouring harder, like it was coming from a bucket.
Turning back, the three of them started running. Emma quickly reached Lucy, grabbed her, and pulled her along.
With the sun hidden behind the clouds, the darkness in David awoke, allowing him to run just as fast as Emma.
When they tried to escape the clearing, the plants surrounded them, blocking every path. Just when it seemed like it was over…
The island began to shake, as if struck by an earthquake. Parts of it started sinking into the water.
"Dammit!" Emma cursed.
David noticed the plants had stopped moving.
"This is our chance — break through!"
Hearing that, Emma followed him. David drew his sword and began slicing through the vines.
Forcing their way forward, they were nearly through when the earthquake subsided — and the plants came alive again.
They were still a short distance from the exit, and David's strength was running out. That's when Emma intervened, kicking against his sword, helping it cut through the vines, and David forced his way through with his body.
They escaped, but it was only halfway to safety. They ran through the rain, unable to see ahead, with vines sprouting everywhere around them.
"Take Lucy!" Emma shouted.
Hearing her, David turned, grabbed Lucy, and kept running, while Emma led the way.
A bright golden sword appeared in her hands, cutting down every vine in their path. Fighting their way through, they reached a hill where the plants couldn't reach.
They hurried up, finally making it. The vines writhed below, unable to follow.
Laying Lucy down, David caught his breath.
"What the hell was that? Where did that earthquake come from?"
"I don't know," Emma replied. "But it saved us."
"I think we shouldn't make it angry," Lucy added.
Exhausted, they all lay down and fell asleep.
