David, who was sitting, waited for his companions. The sun was slowly setting behind the horizon. Suddenly, he felt two people approaching from behind.
Turning around, he saw Emma and Lucy walking toward him. Lucy looked a little disheveled, while Emma appeared unharmed.
As they reached David, he started the conversation.
"How are you?" David asked.
"I'm fine. How about you?" Emma replied.
"I'm fine too."
"That's good. Did you feel the massive energy at the center of the island?" Emma asked, her face cold.
"Not only did I feel it, I was there," David answered.
"Really? It's good they couldn't find you," Lucy said, concern in her voice. "What did you see there?"
"There was a gathering of monsters — lower and mid-tier demons. They knelt down, and three enormous tentacles rose from the sea. Also, the center of the island was missing."
Hearing this, Emma grew alert, and Lucy looked astonished.
"So half the island just disappeared?"
"Yes."
"I noticed something: during the night, the water demons don't move, as if they evaporate," Lucy added.
"And what do you suggest?" David asked, puzzled.
"We need to sail south by boat; it's the fastest way to get there."
"Such a desperate move?" David said, with a hint of sarcasm.
"Yes."
"And how are we supposed to leave this island at night?"
"Some parts of the island are filled with water. You probably noticed that plants seem to wither when they come into contact with water."
David remembered seeing plants dry up when touched by water.
"Alright, then we need to make a boat."
After the discussion, David, Emma, and Lucy went to chop down trees and began building.
Two hours later, the boat was ready, and the sun was nearly set. Setting out to sea, they got in and sailed south. In the distance, a plant thrashed violently, frustrated at having lost its prey.
They loo
ked toward the south and continued on their way.
