Chapter 12 - Chapter 12

The rain drizzled lightly as Jihoon made his way into the school premises on Monday. He rubbed his arms, his body shivering subtly from the slight chill.

The omega stepped into the building, eyes widening when he saw Kim Yujin seated at the reception.

Jihoon made his way to her. "Good morning," he greeted, a polite smile on his lips.

Yujin's face twisted in obvious displeasure and she looked up from her work. "Stop pretending. We are not friends, Mr Kang."

She continued flipping through the files on her desk and Jihoon nodded faintly.

"I have questions," he said, ignoring her dismissive attitude. "And you have the answers."

The receptionist looked up at him. "I don't know what you are talking about."

Jihoon frowned.

Was she playing dumb now?

He leaned over her desk, voice dropping into a whisper. "We both know that Yena was killed."

Jihoon watched as Yujin tensed, her fists clenched.

"Tell me what you know about it," he pleaded, tapping his fingers on her desk. "So the killer can be brought to justice."

Yujin's features smoothened and she let out a hollow laugh. "You think you are some sort of hero, right?" she asked, eyeing Jihoon with disdain.

The omega kept quiet.

"Do you know who you are dealing with?" she continued, voice cold. "What they are capable of?"

"They?" Jihoon frowned. "Who are you talking about?"

"Stay away from matter that don't concern you," Yujin sneered, folding her arms across her chest.

"And if I don't?" Jihoon countered and she shrugged.

"Then you'll only have yourself to blame for what happens."

Yujin went back to her work, pointedly ignoring him.

Jihoon observed her, finally taking in her appearance.

Yujin's left eye was a slightly swollen, her unusually thick make-up doing a poor job of concealing it.

"Were they responsible for what happened to your eye?" Jihoon blurted before he could stop himself.

She froze and that was enough answer for the omega.

"I am already involved, Miss Lee." Jihoon showed her the text on his phone. "I received this a few days after Yena was killed."

Yujin's eyes widened as she read the text. She looked at him, fear flashing across her features. "So you are—"

"Jihoon!" a voice cheerfully called and Jihoon startled as an arm circled his shoulder.

"Oh... Senior," he breathed, relaxing at the familiar face.

Seojun gave him a lopsided smile. "I've been looking everywhere for you!"

He looked at the receptionist. "Am I interrupting something?"

"No you are not," Yujin gave Seojun a tight smile. "Mr Kang was just leaving."

Jihoon's brows furrowed and the receptionist smiled at him.

"Have a great day," she said with false politeness.

"That's great then," Seojun said. "Let's go, Jihoon."

The omega let himself be pulled away reluctantly.

 ************

Jihoon dragged his feet through the hallways hours later, yawning from exhaustion.

He let out a long sigh as he headed for the basketball court, regretting his decision to accept Seojun's invitation to watch a match.

"I don't understand anything about basketball," Jihoon whined, tiredly running a hand over his face.

As the omega neared the court, he was grabbed roughly and pulled into a class.

"Ah!" Jihoon gasped. He placed a hand on the wall, stopping his head from banging against it.

Hands were placed on both sides of him, trapping him against the wall.

The omega's heart pounded in fear, breath coming in short pants. He placed his forehead on the wall.

The stranger leaned in, their breath falling against Jihoon's cheek. "Did you miss me, Sweet?"

Jihoon's eyes widened.

He turned around swiftly, pushing the person away. "Junghoon! You scared me!"

The alpha raised his hands in surrender, a smirk on his face. "Did I make your heart beat a little faster, Sweet?"

He wasn't even apologetic.

Jihoon let out a long exhale to quell his growing irritation. "What do you think you are doing?"

Junghoon stepped closer, crowding him against the wall. "What does it look like?"

The omega huffed, tired of the alpha's antics. "You can be doing this—"

Junghoon abruptly kissed him, swallowing the rest of Jihoon's words.

The alpha kissed him desperately, hands reaching out to grab Jihoon's waist.

The omega could only moan as he was devoured, his body heating up like it was on fire.

He pulled away, slightly out of breath. "Junghoon—"

The alpha chased his lips and sealed it once more. Their lips moved against each other urgently, their soft groans filling the room.

Jihoon tore his lips away, placing a hand on Junghoon's chest. "That's enough."

He turned his head, dodging the alpha's lips. "You promised to give me a week, Junghoon."

Junghoon hummed, hands lightly tracing the omega's side. "I did. Though I never said I won't kiss you."

He caressed Jihoon's lower lip. "You don't know what you do to me, don't you?"

The omega stared up at him, face flushed from the kiss. "Why me?"

Junghoon chuckled at the question. "Why you?" he repeated.

"Have you seen yourself, Sweet? You can make anyone go crazy over you."

Jihoon looked down, feeling heat creeping up his neck. "That's an exaggeration."

The alpha was so cheesy.

Junghoon chuckled darkly, leaning in to whisper in the omega's ear. "You have five days left. I'll show you then."

There was a beat of silence as they stared at each other.

Jihoon's eyes widened as understanding dawned on him. "You!" he huffed, pushing the alpha away.

Junghoon smirked, highly amused by his reaction. "I'm glad we are on the same page."

"We are not!" The omega hissed, pointing a finger at him. "You can't keep saying things like... that."

He looked away, face flaming.

The alpha tilted his head, folding his arms across his chest. "Should I say it more clearly then?" he asked, teasing lilt in his tone.

Jihoon narrowed his eyes at him.

"Fine," Junghoon relented. "I won't tease you anymore..." he reached out and caressed the omega's jaw. "...despite how cute you are."

The alpha was truly shameless!

Not having the energy to drag it further, Jihoon sighed. "I have to go. Senior invited me to watch a basketball match."

Junghoon's face darkened. "Stay away from him," he said and the omega frowned at the sudden change.

"Senior?" he asked and the alpha nodded.

Jihoon raised a brow. "Why should I stay away from him?"

"I don't have a good feeling about him," Junghoon replied curtly.

The omega frowned the explanation not making any sense to him. "But he has not done anything to me—"

"Just go to the match," The alpha gently interrupted. "I'll score three points for you."

Jihoon blinked, thrown off by the sudden change of conversation. He nodded, brows slightly furrowed.

"Yeah. I'll look forward to it."

Junghoon kissed his temple, deeply inhaling his skin. "See you there."

The omega watched him walk out, lips pursed in thought.

His phone buzzed with a text. He retrieved the device from his pocket.

'Unknown: I'll tell you everything. Meet me at the Blossom Cafe now'

The message was cryptic and vague.

"Should I go?" The omega wondered, reading the text again. "It's dangerous."

Jihoon's feet moved urgently and the omega made his way out of the school premises.
