Tom covered his nose and looked with disdain at the strange creature before him devouring its food.
"Where did you find this?"
"It's not a 'thing,' it's a house-elf. His name is Toby, and he's my most loyal servant,"
Levid said as he added a chicken drumstick to Toby's plate.
"What is that?" Tom looked at Levid, bewildered.
Tom, a newcomer to the wizarding world, had no idea what a house-elf was.
Before Levid could say anything, Toby jumped up, yelling a bit nervously.
"Ah! Great Master Wade! Kind Master Wade! How could you give Toby more food? Damn it, Toby! Toby must punish himself!"
"Stop! I command you to finish your food."
Just as Toby grabbed Tom's new cauldron and was about to smash it against his head, Levid calmly gave the order.
Toby put the cauldron down, sat back down on the ground, and continued eating.
But tears welled up in his tennis-ball-sized eyes.
"Oh... Master Wade is truly the best and greatest master in the world!"
"So, what's going on? What exactly is a house-elf? Has he always been this neurotic?" Tom asked, frowning.
Unable to sleep, Tom, with his long-packed belongings, headed to join Wade. He walked in to see Levander ordering Toby to eat.
Having never seen a house-elf before, Tom had no idea what Levander had gotten up to in the hours he'd been away.
Levander patted Tom's shoulder and said earnestly, "Don't worry.
Although you've gone from my most loyal servant to my second, I'll still treat you with the same kindness as before."
Tom's face darkened instantly, a vein bulging on his forehead.
He spoke slowly, each word emphasizing, "Who do you say is your servant?"
"Tom... you're not as respectful to me as you were before. Now you understand why you went from first to second, don't you?" Levander said with regret.
"You idiot..." Tom fought back the urge to attack, because he didn't want to get beaten!
'Calm down... You can't beat him yet... Calm down...'
Tom took several deep breaths, finally calming down.
"What's wrong? Are you hungry too?" Levid glanced at the pot in his hands, then at Tom. "There's some left here, if you want..."
"No! I'm not hungry at all!" Tom, whose emotions had just calmed down, nearly exploded again.
"Okay, forget it." Levid placed the pot next to Toby, letting him continue eating.
"So, what are house-elves?" Tom asked persistently.
"House-elves are the most loyal servants of wizards.
They also possess a variety of interesting magic.
While they may not seem as powerful as wizards' magic, they're still very useful for handling household chores.
Oh, and I saw this in a book in the bookstore today."
Levid then told Tom about how he had just found a house-elf while wandering around, and he chose what to tell him.
Anyway, if he had a house-elf constantly following him around, it would be impossible to hide it, so he might as well be frank.
"I don't think this filthy creature can be of any help," Tom looked at Toby with disdain.
"Don't underestimate any creature, Tom, or you'll definitely suffer in the future," Lewes said meaningfully.
By then, Toby had already devoured the food on his plate and in the pot.
"Master Wade, Toby has never eaten so full..." Toby said, tears welling up again.
"Okay, Toby, find a place to rest first, and remember to clean yourself up.
I don't want to see you looking so dirty next time," Lewes gave the order again.
Toby sobbed, then bowed respectfully and said, "As you wish, Master Wade."
"Snap!"
Toby vanished from the spot, leaving behind only a sound like a whip hitting the ground...
This scene made Tom's eyes widen.
"Look, at least you don't have to help me wash the dishes anymore."
Li Weide pointed to the plates and pots on the ground.
Only then did Tom realize that the plates and pots he had just placed on the floor had somehow become as pristine as new.
It must be said that Toby was indeed an experienced house-elf, his kitchen magic adroitly mastered.
Suddenly, Tom's eyes twinkled as he said, "Washing the dishes is nothing? I can actually help you cook."
"Are you planning on poisoning me?" Levid remained unmoved.
"Tsk... is it that obvious?"
In the blink of an eye, the sky began to lighten with a hint of paleness.
Levid sat on the bed, engrossed in a copy of "The Count of Monte Cristo."
Tom, on the other hand, kept glancing out.
"Dumbledore's men, didn't they forget to pick us up? It's almost dawn," Tom asked anxiously.
Levid suddenly closed the book and said, "Aren't they coming?"
"Coming? Where?" Tom had barely finished asking when he heard the faint sound of horses neighing in the sky.
Tom quickly glanced up.
The neighing of horses grew closer, and suddenly, a carriage emerged from the gray clouds! However, from Tom's perspective, there were no horses at the front of the carriage, only a middle-aged man acting as the driver. Levide also looked out the window, but in front of the carriage, three strange, black, winged, and bony horses struggled to pull the carriage toward them.
Levide recognized them as three Thestrals.
These were magical creatures, only those who had truly witnessed death could see their true form.
Before his time travel, Levide had witnessed death, so he could see these Thestrals.
However, Tom, a newcomer with a 0/0 KD, could not see them yet.
"Bang!"
The carriage landed in front of the orphanage gate with a loud crash.
But the people in the orphanage and the other residents on the street seemed to have heard nothing and remained silent.
At that moment, the carriage door suddenly opened, and a dark-skinned witch with curly hair, clutching a book, leaped out.
She glanced at the orphanage gate before looking directly up at the window of Levitra's room, her gaze meeting Levitra and Tom's.
A faint smile played on the witch's lips, and the next moment, she vanished from the scene.
Tom stared out the window, eyes wide open. "Where did she go?"
"Are you looking for me?" A woman's voice suddenly rang out from behind them.
Startled, Tom turned quickly.
Levitra turned to see the witch, who had somehow arrived behind them.
Tom stared at her in shock.
"Who...who are you? How did you get in?"
One moment, she was outside, and the next, she was behind him on the second floor. The mere thought of it was terrifying.
"Hello, my name is Eulalie Hicks. You can call me Professor Hicks," the witch smiled, extending her hand to Levitra and Tom.
Tom looked at Hicks warily, not moving.
Levitra also extended his hand and shook hers. "Professor Hicks, are you the one Professor Dumbledore sent to pick us up?"
Eulalie Hicks, a character in the film "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them," is the Charms Professor at Ilvermorny.
She was one of the earliest members of Dumbledore's Army.
Also, I'm planning to stick with the film's setting and have a young Professor McGonagall appear... even though, according to the book's timeline, Professor McGonagall would only be around three or four at this point...
