Amari's gaze lingered on Alexander.
"Thank you… for everything you did today."
If it weren't for his planning and quick thinking, the day wouldn't have gone as smoothly as it did.
Alexander winked, his voice low and teasing. "We both gained something from this, so you don't need to thank me."
Her lips curved into a faint smile. "You should get some rest early."
He smirked, tilting his head slightly. "Are you… worried about me?"
She merely smiled, unwilling to indulge him further, and stepped out of the car.
Alexander was the type of man who never moved without a purpose. If he still wanted to keep a connection with her, it was most likely because she was a lawyer—someone useful to have in his corner.
But Amari had no intention of staying in touch unless absolutely necessary.
When she arrived home, she couldn't sit still. Even after everything, her mind was still a storm of thoughts and unanswered questions.
