Chapter 1 - THE LOST WORLD OF THE DEAD

"The Chosen One" – Part 1

The sun was shining, yet rain began to fall softly.

Standing alone on a battlefield, soaked in blood – not just the blood of others, but his own – León raised his head to the sky. His breath was shaky. The world around him was silent, as if holding its breath.

"Why did you choose me?" he asked aloud. His voice, raw and trembling, was directed at something – someone – beyond this world.

"Can a world filled with injustice ever be made just?" he murmured.

"What is faith? How did I even end up here?"

The rain grew heavier. His eyes, though darkened by pain, reflected a deep fire within.

"What is life?" León asked, kneeling in the mud.

"Can you live a life if life doesn't live you? If life only wants to turn you into someone who merely breathes but doesn't feel alive…?"

He clenched his fists.

"Why do we cling so tightly to life… when there's another one after death? Ignorance—that's what brings despair… and the fear of dying."

He looked up one last time.

"What is death… really?"

Chapter I – The Year 2000

The story truly began in the year 2000.

In a hidden village, far from the chaos of the cities, a woman screamed in labor. The war had already reached them. Her husband, Archéolodon, stood outside, torn between staying to defend the village or saving his family. Their son, Tailer, just seven years old, clung to his father's hand.

"Archéolodon! The baby! It's coming!" screamed his wife from inside the hut.

Tailer (terrified):

"Dad, what's wrong with mom? Is she going to die?"

Archéolodon (forcing calmness):

"No, son. Everything will be fine. Stay close to me."

Explosions could be heard in the distance. The village was under attack by enemy soldiers and rebels. The city had already fallen; refugees had fled to this village seeking shelter.

Archéolodon made a choice.

He lifted his wife into his arms, took Tailer by the hand, and ran toward the forest, heading to a secret hospital known only to the villagers.

After thirty minutes of walking through narrow paths and hidden trails, they arrived. Nurses rushed out with a wheelchair.

Nurse (shouting):

"Quick! Get her inside!"

As they pushed her through the hospital doors, Tailer held his father's arm tightly.

Tailer (worried):

"Dad… she's not okay, is she?"

Archéolodon (kneeling to his level):

"Trust me. Nothing will happen to her."

But his heart was racing.

Time passed in silence. They waited in the lobby with no news. Panic growing, Archéolodon stood and said:

"We're going in."

They ran up the stairs to Room 214. Inside, his wife struggled in pain. The midwife was frantic.

Midwife (desperate):

"We're losing her! I need help!"

Archéolodon rushed to her side and grabbed her hand.

Meanwhile – Back at the Village

The rebels had already destroyed most of the village. Only one man remained alive, trembling on his knees.

Rebel Leader (coldly):

"Where are the others? Tell me and I might spare your life."

Villager (pleading):

"Please… please don't kill me. They… they ran to the forest. There's a hidden hospital there!"

He pointed.

Rebel Leader (smiling):

"Thank you."

He pulled the trigger. A single shot to the head.

Rebel Leader (to his men):

"Let's move. Follow the tracks."

Ten minutes later, they found the hospital. The leader ordered two RPGs to be fired.

BOOM. BOOM.

The front doors exploded. Panic erupted inside. People screamed, ran in every direction.

Guards were immediately killed. The hospital was no longer safe.

Inside Room 214, Archéolodon stood up, heart pounding.

Archéolodon (angrily):

"No… not here… not now!"

He turned to Tailer.

Archéolodon:

"Son, take your mother's hand. Stay close to her, no matter what happens."

Narrator:

And from that moment, everything changed…

Pain, loss, and betrayal would shape the paths of León, Tailer, and Jason.

The scars of war would remain etched in their souls forever.
