Chapter 3 - The Girl at the Front Desk

Kurt's POV :

The room was loud, but I was used to it. After all, I've been with Lukie for years now.

I leaned back in my chair near the window, letting the gentle breeze hit my face as Lukie made the girls scream again.

WHAT A CHARMER!

Axel was laughing too loudly. Bless my ears.

Zeke was spinning his pen. Already bored, I guess.

My eyes fell on the girl at the front desk. Amara...

She was wiping away her tears. I feel bad for her, honestly. I never think bullying someone is a good idea. At least, not a softie like her.

I know Amara. Her parents and my parents worked on the same business project at one point. You wouldn't have guessed that she's the daughter of the infamous CEO of The Velasco Industries, Mr. Miguel Velasco, by her simple appearance.

I noticed how she took off her glasses and rubbed them with her handkerchief before putting them back on. She's... kinda cute.

No, I'm not like Lukie or Axel. I'm not lusting over her. I'm just stating some facts.

She isn't the type to cover her face with makeup products and all just to impress some boys. She's natural. And that's what I appreciate about her the most. Her eyes are always fixed on her books, rather than some good-looking gym rats.

I like her dedication. Hell, I LOVE her dedication.

I was just thinking all this when our homeroom teacher, Mr. Edward Morales came in.

We all greeted him and the class settled. Thank God.....

"Welcome to Mabini, my dear students!" smiled Mr. Edward. "So, we need to make a aim for the session first. And it will be to be the best section of Grade 12!"

I noticed Mara, noting something in her planner. Don't tell me she's writing the aim—

"So, from tomorrow, everyone will go to the hall after coming to school and give the attendance in the fingerprint machine, alright?" Mr. Edward continued. "As usual, of course. Be sure not to be late or anything."

He took out a stack of papers from his bag and distributed them to everyone in the class. It's probably the rout— I was right. It is the routine for the session. He just slammed the paper onto my desk.

I took it in my hands and read it over. Ugh...the subjects...nevermind. Guess we will have to tolerate them for the last time.

I looked at Amara. God, she looked pleased with the subjects. Probably. Cause she's smiling a bit. As if she never got teased by her new classmates. I think only studying can fix her, yeah?

Mr. Edward gave us our new IDs and locker assignments. He also recuted the school rules. I side-eyed Lukie and Axel, knowing full well that they weren't listening. Even if they were, they would certainly ignore them.

The rest of the day passed. Nothing interesting. Just our subject teachers introducing themselves and asking our names, giving introduction of the subjects, and outlining the syllabus. I just yawned.

Oh— wait— Was I looking at Amara? Why?!

I cleared my throat and looked back at the teachers. Some teachers allowed us to talk to each other (I wished they hadn't. The loud laughters and those shits are making my head ache!).

Finally, the bell for the lunch break rang and I stood up on my long legs before looking at the boys.

"Let's go together. I'm hungry as a wolf!" Axel yawned and stood up on his own legs. "I can eat a girl!"

I rolled my eyes but smiled a bit. "Let's go."

Lukie smirked and stood up. "You guys have to wait. I wanna have a chat with Cassie." He walked towards Cassandra and flirted with her for a bit. Zeke looked at Lukie with an unimpressed look. I sighed and we waited for him before he finally waved her a bye and joined us.

"Cute, that girl is." Lukie grinned and we walked out of the classroom with the rest of the students.

I glanced back for a moment, only to lock eyes with Amara, who's standing up from her seat. I quickly looked away but felt a flutter in my chest.
