An Overlord - Multiverse Fanfiction

The protagonist meets with an accident - an odd twist of fate - and finds himself reincarnated in what he believes is the future. At least, that’s what he thinks at first. But things start to feel off when he comes across an announcement for the launch of a new DMMORPG. The Game title strikes a chord in his memories, the title he was too familiar with. 

Drawn by the familiarity, he logs in and begins his climb toward godhood. But the path isn’t as simple as he’d imagined. He’s haunted by disturbing dreams - visions where he lies stranded on a sleek bridge in pitch-black darkness. With every tweak he makes to the settings, with every rule he bends or breaks within Yggdrasil, that darkness in his dreams seems to grow… threatening to devour him.

Still, he pushes forward - navigating the treacherous world of 22nd Century Earth while he builds his future in Yggdrasil, seeking the gateway to the New World. All the while, he tiptoes around the edge of that dream, barely holding himself together from excess interference or unwanted meddling in the game.
