Victor sat down on the bed; his uniform felt comfortable and better than his old, worn-out clothes.
"What should I do about shoes?" Victor wondered loudly.
"Weapon hall, maybe I could learn to use my twin storm revolver there," Victor muttered as he lay back on the bed. He winced as he felt the stinging pain in his feet.
He opened the System panel, clicked on the [Celestial Shop], and pressed on the [Weapons]. He scrolled down, trying to search for the shoes. His eyes fell on a pair, unranked grey colored shoes. He sat up on the bed and checked the price.
"What!" he exclaimed
"10CP! That's outrageous for the unranked shoes." Victor shouted at the system panel.
10CP was a huge amount; normal people, those working normal jobs, can only able to earn 5-8CP per month, and it's enough to survive for the whole month. Victor never had any amount of money for his whole life; even if he had, he wouldn't have been able to spend it because he didn't possess the System. With trembling hands, he clicked [Buy Now] and in a bright flash of light, shoes appeared before his eyes.
The grey shoes, made of some kind of cloth with a sturdy white sole. He wore them and felt a wave of comfort passing through his all body. Shoes adjusted their size around his feet by themselves. Victor's eyes widened as he felt the pain from his feet vanish. He took off the shoes and noticed his feet were all healed up.
"They can heal, too!" Victor exclaimed.
"Has my trash luck finally turned around?". He shouted.

The door opened, and Luke walked in. He saw Victor holding the shoes in his hand like a trophy. A smile appeared on his tired face.
"What are you doing?" Luke asked
Victor put his shoes down on the floor and put them on. He glanced at Luke and replied in deadpan face, "Nothing."
Luke was taken aback by such a response. He shook his head, moving toward his bed and slumping face-first on the pillow.
"I'm bone tired," a muffled sound came out from him.
Victor lay down on his bed and, closing his eyes, he took a relieved breath. "I thought you were faster than me?" Victor asked Luke. Luke turned sideways and glanced at him, who was looking at the roof. "I'm fast, but I don't have much stamina. We elves have reflex and speed stat from birth, but…" Luke stopped in mid-sentence.
Victor's eyes widened, he turned toward Luke and asked in shock, "Does everyone have speed and reflex stat from birth?"
"Hahahaha, are you kidding? No!" Luke laughed at a ridiculous question.
"Then, why would you have?" Victor asked, baffled.
Luke turned his head and looked toward Victor. "You!" Luke shouted with wide eyes and sat up on the bed.
He sighed as he calmed himself down. "You don't know anything, do you, Victor?" He inquired.
"No, not most. I was blessed with the System a month ago." Victor replied with a sad smile.
Luke's mouth gaped, and he remained in that state for a few minutes. He couldn't comprehend what he just heard.
After a little while, he asked, "Why?"
Victor glanced at him and only gave a smile.
Luke whispered, "I'm sorry, it must have been hard for you. I was too shocked to fully grasp anything else."
Victor gave a nod and smiled, "It's okay."
…
…
Awkward silence filled the room.
"Let's have breakfast, we don't have much time left." Luke stood up.
"Breakfast," Victor muttered the word.
'I'm not able to taste any food. Even though I tried many times but it always felt like I was chewing dirt or cardboard. I always end up forgetting that I'm no longer a human.'
"Victor! Victor, are you coming?" Luke called, breaking him from his thoughts.
Victor's listless eyes fell on Luke, and he stood up.
'Let's just pretend to be one of them.' Victor said to himself. He followed Luke.
They came into a big mess hall with three tables. Luke moved toward the Lower Gods faction. Victor followed him closely, observing around. They took a tray and filled it with several dishes and walked toward their table.
Victor sat against the wall, and Luke sat across from him. Victor took a spoonful of rice and chewed. There was no taste, just felt like plain squishy food. Victor chewed slowly and looked around.
Just at the end of the hall, on a large table with Gaia's faction, Kate glared at him. Victor's eyebrows rose, and he muttered, "What's with her?"
Luke heard and turned around to look where Victor was looking. His eyes twitched, and he snapped back.
"What are you doing? She is the princess of your Holy Empire." Luke whispered.
Victor, shocked, looked at Luke and then Kate. He froze, and his mind went blank.
He sighed, thinking, 'I think I will have to make her my friend.'
He raised his head and looked at Zara sitting beside Kate. He smiled at her, waving his hand.
Zara smiled back with a wave of her hand.
"What are you doing, Zara?" Kate's stern voice came beside her.
Zara looked at her with a confused expression. "I'm just saying 'Hi' to my friend."
"He is part of the lower gods faction; we can't be friends with them. They never helped us in the War against the Chaos invaders," Kate snarled at Zara.
Another boy sitting across from them chimed in, "Princess is right, We, the Holy faction, hate the black faction, and we can tolerate the werewolves, but we're not fond of them."
Kate nodded at the boy's reply and continued, "That's right, we humans have to stick together."
"But my friend is a human, too. He wasn't able to get the blessings of the Holy Goddess; that's why he is there. He is the son of a martyr who fought and sacrificed himself on our side." Zara defended Victor firmly.
Kate's eyes hesitated a little, she clenched her fists, and bit inside of her cheeks.
"Doesn't matter, if Holy Goddess didn't choose him, then it must be due to some reason. It's better to stay away from him." The boy, Vladiyus, insisted like a big brother.
Kate frowned at Vladiyus' tone against Zara, but she didn't refute him.
'She needs to learn harshly, or she will become a target of people.' Kate thought for the good of her friend.
Zara's shoulders dropped. 'If I knew the military academy would be like this, I would have chosen to go to the capital's temple.'
